Chapter 838: Chapter 82

It seems that as long as we find the target, we will become proactive.

Caroline had this feeling—she began observing dormitory 403, as it was her first time carefully exploring this room.

She went to the wardrobe, opened it, and looked at the clothes inside… this should be the wardrobe of room 403. Usually, from a person’s dressing style, you can somewhat understand their personality.

As for her ability in this area, Caroline was somewhat confident—this isn’t learned, but experience from practical situations. As for what practical situations are, you can guess for yourself.

Room 403 used to be a very cheerful and sunny guy… Caroline went through the clothes one by one.

Suddenly, a photo slipped out from one of the clothes. It was a group photo, a man and a woman, the man handsome and the woman beautiful.

This is a photo of them embracing, under the sunset, holding a bit of commemorative value.

This man was clearly not ‘Arno’ and ‘Harry’, because he looked different… Is this person from room 403? Is this his original appearance?

Caroline couldn’t help but recall the terrifying image of room 403, his face wrapped in white bandages, only his bloodshot eyes and a bit of scalp and hair exposed.

She moved to the desk, unlike Arno’s desk, this one seemed somewhat messy. Due to not being touched for a long time, the books on the shelf were covered in a thin layer of dust.

Caroline casually took out a book, opened the first page, and saw a name written on it—writing your name on a book, marking it as personal property, so this was room 403’s name.

Caroline placed the photo next to the name on the page, looking at the man’s bright smile in the photo, she softly read the name written on the page: Lucas.

Lucas…

Caroline leaned back in the chair, holding the electric baton 403 gave her in one hand, to feel a bit safer, and began thinking about the next move.

Revenge is a very tempting suggestion.

…

When ‘Arno’ returned to the dormitory, it was already past six in the morning. ‘Arno’ looked somewhat tired.

When he opened the door and turned on the light, the first thing he saw was Caroline sitting on the bed hugging her knees, looking like she hadn’t slept all night.

Seeing ‘Arno’ had returned, Caroline quickly got off the bed, walked up to him, and grabbed his arm with a worried look, saying urgently, “Where did you go? I thought something happened to you and was considering whether to go out and look for you.”

“I… I later went to the study room.” ‘Arno’ felt the strength of Caroline’s grip on his arm and was surprised, “Did you wait for me all night?”

Caroline silently nodded, “I didn’t dare to go out, but you never returned, and I was even scared that the boss of Boston’s people had come. I didn’t even dare to turn on the light…”

A pitiful woman can easily move a man’s heart.

‘Arno’ patted Caroline’s hand, smiled, and said, “I was indeed in a bad mood, and I’ve been planning to review because there are exams recently. Then, I lost track of time… I won’t do it next time.”

Caroline nodded, casually saying, “No wonder your grades are so good, turns out you’re a bookworm.”

‘Arno’ gave an awkward smile.

Caroline poured ‘Arno’ a cup of warm water, then yawned and said, “I’m relieved now that you’re back… Oh, there’s food in the microwave. If you’re hungry, take it out and eat. I just threw something together, but it might not taste good.”

‘Arno’ was taken aback, instinctively looking towards the microwave wanting to say something, but Caroline had already climbed into bed, lazily laying down, completely unguarded, and drowsily saying, “I can’t anymore, I’m so tired… You busy yourself.”

‘Arno’ stood there dumbly looking at Caroline’s back.

Holding the water cup, he stood there for a long time, then silently opened the microwave, finding a bowl of pasta inside… the pasta had already turned mushy after being there for so long.

He sat down holding the bowl, eating quietly.

Quietly, silently, bite by bite… slowly, slowly.

…

…

In the morning, Mr. Ofi walked downstairs with a heavy head; his sleep quality was not good overnight.

Bara seemed to have been busy in the kitchen early on, seeing Mr. Ofi coming down, she quickly wiped her hands with her apron and came over, with a worried look, asking, “Sir, are you awake?”

Mr. Ofi furrowed his brows, looking at Bara’s expression, and said, “He… hasn’t come out yet?”

Bara nodded, “Ever since last night you said to lock up Mr. Ferenc, he hasn’t stopped. I fell asleep from exhaustion, and when I woke up this morning, he was still inside, busy on his own.”

Mr. Ofi felt something was wrong, suddenly rushing out, quickly arriving at the workshop behind the yard. Through the window, he saw Dr. Ferenc pacing back and forth inside with a soccer ball in hand.

On the walls, the floor… everywhere, the chalk-written formulas seemed to have multiplied overnight.

Dr. Ferenc was muttering to the soccer ball, but Mr. Ofi couldn’t hear what he was saying. He hurriedly unlocked the door and went in.

Dr. Ferenc seemed completely unaware, muttering formulas and experimental data unintelligible to Mr. Ofi.

“Enough.” Mr. Ofi suddenly felt a pang of sorrow, “Enough, it’s already enough! I’ve arranged for you to return to the research institute—is that not enough?”

Dr. Ferenc seemed not to hear, as if suddenly thinking of something. He suddenly tossed the soccer ball in his hand aside, picked up a piece of chalk, and bent over the table writing something.

“Are you really insane?” Mr. Ofi murmured, yet the next moment, his expression turned to one of terror!

Dr. Ferenc suddenly picked up a cup nearby, took a sip of something, then set it down… it was like a work-obsessed person casually drinking a sip of water.

But the cup’s contents… Mr. Ofi was shocked, rushing forward. Under the table, he found a vitreous container, a container filled with cleaning fluid.

“Spit it out! Father, spit it out!!” Mr. Ofi, in shock, hurriedly shook Dr. Ferenc’s body.

At this moment, he saw that Dr. Ferenc’s face was unusually pale, his lips dull.

“Don’t disturb…” Dr. Ferenc glared at Mr. Ofi, but before he could finish a sentence, he spewed a large amount of white foam, then collapsed to the ground, his body convulsing.

Mr. Ofi immediately picked up Dr. Ferenc, rushing out of the workshop. At this moment, Bara came out with a tray of breakfast, seeing the situation, she was so startled she dropped everything, “Sir! What happened?”

“He drank the cleaning fluid, probably quite a bit…” Mr. Ofi said urgently, “Go get my car keys!”

Bara hurriedly ran upstairs.

Mr. Ofi’s car sped out of the house at top speed. His hands trembling as he gripped the steering wheel, his lips quivering, he alternated between looking ahead and constantly glancing at the unconscious Dr. Ferenc on the passenger seat, breathing heavily.

Suddenly, something came to Mr. Ofi’s mind, and he dialed a call using the car’s system… calling back to his workplace.

“Good morning, Officer…”

“I’m giving you five minutes, have the traffic department block the road from my house to the hospital! I want a clear path!! This is an order!!”

Mr. Ofi hung up the phone as soon as he finished speaking, looking urgently ahead, “Please, don’t let anything happen, don’t let anything happen…”

The power of the Security Department was vast, so vast that the streets of Rio were suddenly clogged one morning, with several major streets’ traffic lights turning red, yet a black private car was racing ahead, recklessly speeding through one red light after another.

“Doctor!! Doctor!!! Someone!!”

Almost roaring, Mr. Ofi carried Dr. Ferenc’s body in his arms and rushed all the way into the hospital gates.

In front of the hospital lobby, wearing pajamas and slippers, with a pale face, Mr. Ofi held his father, only feeling the world was spinning, “Doctor!!!!”

Emergency personnel pushed out a mobile hospital bed, hurriedly lifted Dr. Ferenc onto it, and Mr. Ofi followed all the way to the door of the emergency room.

He watched as the work light of the emergency room lit up, only then sliding down the wall as if exhausted, sitting down dejectedly.

Soon after, Bara hurriedly arrived at the hospital and quickly found Mr. Ofi, who was sitting on the ground outside the emergency room. She helped Mr. Ofi up, “Sir… It’s okay, it will be fine.”

Mr. Ofi silently glanced at Bara, looked at the corridor lights, took a long breath, and slowly said, “That time… it was the same.”

“Sir?”

Mr. Ofi bitterly smiled and said, “Madam Maggie, my wife. She was in there, and I couldn’t do anything. And today… Bara, do you think I made a mistake.”

Bara didn’t know how to comfort at this moment, so she just silently patted Mr. Ofi’s shoulder, then said, “Sir, I brought you clothes, how about you change first… I saw a lot of reporters outside.”

Mr. Ofi, as an important public figure in this country, was naturally recognized easily.

On usual days, when encountering such matters, Mr. Ofi would naturally avoid the spotlight, but at this moment, he was not in the mindset for that, shaking his head, “There are security guards outside, they won’t let them in easily… Bara, for now, don’t tell Louis about this, let’s see how things go.”

Bara nodded slightly.

After a long while, the light in the emergency room finally dimmed, a doctor walked out removing the mask, and Mr. Ofi hastily went to inquire.

“He’s okay now.” The doctor smiled and said, “Fortunately, the delivery was timely; we gave him a stomach wash, now we just wait for him to wake up. But the patient is old, be more careful not to ingest things accidentally again. Luckily, it was just ordinary cleanser this time, if it were pesticides, it would have been troublesome.”

“Thank you, doctor.” Mr. Ofi expressed his gratitude.

The doctor shook his head, then respectfully said, “Mr. Ofi, no need to thank me, it’s my duty… However, sir, it would be best to change clothes.”

Evidently, the doctor also recognized the Security Department Minister wearing pajamas and slippers.

Mr. Ofi nodded, then took the phone Bara handed over, with Dr. Ferenc safe finally, next he naturally had to calm the widespread roadblock situation.

This was considered an abuse of power, but Mr. Ofi could only try to minimize the impact at this moment.

…

…

“Young Master, please have some tea.”

Gan Hong offered a cup of warm water with both hands, putting it down and standing respectfully to the side… This reminded Luo Qiu of the role of maids in past eras.

In fact, having people accompany him everywhere was no longer unfamiliar to Luo Qiu—or rather, he had long been accustomed to being followed everywhere.

Of course, there wasn’t much comparability between the past and the present.

“—Local news: Traffic paralysis occurred in Rio this morning…”

This was a line of scrolling text that appeared at the bottom of the TV screen, with the main scene still being local news—which, of course, wasn’t focused on by those present.

“Alright, then I’ll be off.” Song Haoran said, after quickly finishing the remaining half of his fried dough stick, grabbing a tissue to casually wipe his lips as he stood up.

Luo Qiu withdrew his gaze from the TV, then nodded at Song Haoran, “Have a safe trip.”

As Song Haoran left, Song Tianyou continued, “Luo Qiu, I’m going to the Buddhist hall, do you want to come along?”

Han Residence was large, having a Buddhist hall was not unusual. Seeing Luo Qiu’s curious demeanor, Uncle Wu explained, “The old master has a habit of chanting sutras every day.”

Luo Qiu shook his head, “I probably won’t go.”

Song Tianyou didn’t press, as this was a personal matter, he nodded, “Alright then. If you feel bored, let Gan Hong take you around; she’ll arrange it.”

Thus, the scene unfolded with Gan Hong holding warm water, standing adorably to the side.

Luo Qiu put down “The History of Ming” in his hand, curiously looking at Gan Hong, “Did I ask for it?”

Gan Hong quickly said, “When you ask, it will be too late, so I brought it in advance for the best.”

Luo Qiu nodded slightly, then lowered his head to read the book again.

Gan Hong suddenly asked, “Young Master Qiu, aren’t you curious?”

“Curious about what?”

Gan Hong hesitated, “On the train that time…”

Luo Qiu casually said, “The Song Family is not simple, so I’m not too curious. You appearing twice probably has its reasons… Have a seat, don’t stand, no one is here.”

“No, no.” Gan Hong quickly shook her head, “I’m yours now, that would be very improper.”

Luo Qiu was surprised, “Looks like the Song Family retains many unnecessary traditional customs, don’t you dislike it?”

Gan Hong slowly said, “My life was given by the Song Family. Whatever the old master asks me to do, I will do it.”

“Even if he gives you to me?” Luo Qiu looked up and asked.

Gan Hong earnestly nodded, “But Young Master Qiu, you didn’t refuse, did you?”

Luo Qiu shook his head, “I just thought, if I refused directly, in front of so many people, it would be embarrassing for you as a girl. I’ll clarify it with Old Master Song later, find an excuse or something, and let this matter pass.”

Gan Hong was dumbfounded, looking at Luo Qiu.

Luo Qiu smiled, “So many people were watching you, it must have been uncomfortable.”
