Chapter 836: Chapter 80: I, Bucky, Strike at the Soul

In contrast to the simple houses of the ubiquitous poor neighborhoods, a large number of mansions of the wealthy can be found.

Mr. Besong is an ordinary member of the wealthy circle. Yet he has many friends—in the past, Mr. Besong would frequently host pool parties at his home.

Due to their lavish spending, Mr. Besong’s friends grew in number—tonight, another gathering was held at Mr. Besong’s villa.

But this gathering was completely different from the previous pool parties. All the windows of the villa’s hall were closed, and the curtains were drawn.

They didn’t turn on the lights, but each person held a three-pronged candlestick, providing enough illumination from the candlelight.

Including Mr. Besong, there were a total of eleven members attending. They wore black robes with hoods that covered their faces.

They stood in a circle, seemingly conducting some mysterious ritual.

“And then?” a voice of doubt sounded from the crowd.

“Well…” The organizer of the gathering, Mr. Besong, hesitated for a long time before frowning and saying, “Perhaps we should wait and see.”

“Forget it.” A woman voiced impatiently, then lifted her hood and quickly shed the black robe.

Of course, after taking off the black robe, the woman was wearing a revealing camisole dress, and she said dispiritedly, “In this heat without air conditioning, and still wearing such thick robes, I don’t want to torture myself like this anymore.”

Mr. Besong also lifted his hat, hurriedly saying, “This is how the all-knowing Baqi God can sense our devotion.”

The woman said helplessly, “Dear Besong, but haven’t we tried almost all the methods we could think of? Are you planning to hold an evil ritual like some cult in a novel, sacrificing a newborn baby or something?”

Mr. Besong frowned and fell silent, seemingly lost in thought—the crowd couldn’t help but feel a sense of absurdity upon seeing Mr. Besong’s expression.

This guy Besong seems really tempted?

In fact, everyone gathered here had recently witnessed a miracle happen. They saw with their own eyes the mysterious man who claimed to be the Angel Envoy of Baqi God saving Mr. Besong’s life, even witnessing how the envoy broke through space and disappeared.

They even associated it with the ‘voice’ that appeared in the theater hostage crisis that day.

They believed this mysterious ‘voice’ and the later appearance of the mysterious man who saved Besong were miracles shown by the great all-knowing Baqi God.

Due to the miracle of life and the transcendent power that broke through space, a peculiar notion suddenly arose among a group of idle wealthy individuals led by Mr. Besong.

The all-knowing Baqi God doesn’t seem to appear in any contemporary belief system. It might be a newly born deity or perhaps an ancient god that existed but was not recorded in history—whatever the case, the footprints of this all-knowing god are absent from the world.

Could a group be developed that would uphold the great all-knowing God, becoming the first batch of followers of this god?

That was the miracle of life. These incredibly wealthy people seemed to see a light far more dazzling than the glow of money—hence, under the near fanatical instigation of Mr. Besong, this gathering came to be.

“Besong, perhaps Baqi God was just passing by; it doesn’t care about the faith of the world.” Besong’s old friend at this moment patted his shoulder.

But a strange belief in Mr. Besong’s heart had already been ignited, and he exclaimed rather excitedly, “No! It must be because I’m not devout enough! When I was shot and my life was at stake, I felt the smallness of life. I have many things yet to accomplish; I deeply desire them in my heart! It was the all-knowing Baqi God who gave me light, allowing me to return to this world once again. It must be because I’m not devout enough!”

The fanatical appearance of Mr. Besong made his very old friend wrinkle their brow. Most of the people here were pushed into attending.

On one hand, they indeed witnessed a miracle, thus shaking their universal view tremendously. On the other hand, they wanted to see what would happen next; what if something incredible occurred…what if it was real?

Don’t we differ from salted fish if we don’t have a bit of imagination?

Mr. Besong suddenly raised the candlestick in his hand, completely transforming into a middle-aged eccentric, letting out strange cries hysterically.

Ah~~~!!!~! Ah~!~!

The crowd shook their heads, including Mr. Besong’s young wife, who couldn’t help but frown—she felt deceived by the envoy of Baqi God.

Wasn’t there talk of having Besong leave a will?

But suddenly, in the hall, which was supposed to be windless, a strong breeze blew in, extinguishing all the candles’ flames and plunging everything into darkness.

The strange occurrence couldn’t even be reacted to, yet within seconds, the extinguished candlelight ignited once again automatically.

“What…what happened?” The frightened voice echoed.

Mr. Besong suddenly cried out loudly, joyfully, excitedly, with high spirits…his whole body trembled, his head raised, enchanted, suddenly kneeling down.

“Are you calling me?”

Above Mr. Besong’s head, suspended in mid-air within the villa hall, the crowd saw the messenger of God who had appeared that day wearing a Carnival Mask and had broken through space.

“It’s really here!”

“Oh my god…isn’t this a dropped wire act?”

Mr. Besong suddenly stood up and shouted furiously, “Ignorant sinners! Quickly repent before the divine envoy! Do you want to suffer the punishment of the all-knowing God!”

Perhaps because of Mr. Besong’s serious demeanor that frightened the crowd, perhaps because the divine envoy had already displayed inexplicable divine power that exceeded scientific explanation, or perhaps because wearing this black robe and attending this secret ritual triggered subconscious fear…under the gaze of the floating divine envoy, they timidly kneeled down.

And at this point, the divine envoy suddenly looked at Mr. Besong—Baqi was indeed gazing at Mr. Besong at this moment.

A conversation from over ten minutes ago still vividly lingered in Baqi’s mind—a dialogue with the club’s Maid.

—”What? A ritual?”

—”It’s just a rich man’s fantasy. Despite their material wealth, they’re spiritually impoverished. You’re lucky to have encountered Mr. Besong in mortal peril…people easily develop awe for the mysterious at the moment of death.”

—”What am I supposed to do?”

—”You don’t have to do anything, just maintain your image. Leave the rest to Mr. Besong. Because he believes in the existence of a so-called all-knowing god, he’ll automatically conjure up a lot of ideas. Even if you casually say a sentence, he might interpret it for days and consider it divine prophecy. As long as you handle Besong well, you can quickly grow your church.”

—”Now that you mention it, it really seems that way…”

Recalling, Baqi looked at Mr. Besong again, as much joy as possible—and for reasons, Mr. Besong has money, a lot of money. Moreover, he’s an eccentric middle-aged individual whose friends are also affluent. It’s said that eccentric maladies are contagious.

The key, though, is that they all have money, and the people they associate with are wealthy! Future member admissions will all be wealthy!

Money, money, money! Why am I still a Black overlord! This is the way to make quick money!

Goddamn! I’ve turned the tables!

“Besong, I can already feel your devotion.”

With the servant girl’s supportive floating power behind him, Bucky wasn’t fazed at all, even though his spiritual power was just beginning and the blessing ring tired him out after three or four uses a day like a dog.

“From today onwards, you are…” Bucky stretched out his voice.

Mr. Besong swallowed nervously, staring tensely at the Messenger of God above his head. Finally, Bucky slowly said, “…my servant.”

“Servant?” Mr. Besong was taken aback.

Bucky calmly said, “In my god’s Divine Nation, everyone is a servant of my god. I am the incarnate of my god in the mortal world; as my servant, you are also a servant of the god, as long as you are devout. Someday you will ascend to the Divine Nation.”

Saying this, the Jade Coronet activated, and a scene of extreme bliss appeared on the ceiling — the Maid said this thing could indeed create such a space eventually, but it required him to collect enough Power of Faith to support it.

Additionally, according to the agreement signed with the club, Bucky only had the right to use this thing for ten years. When ten years were up, it would require renewal.

“Divine Nation!”

The astonished voices rang out, Bucky waved his hands, he couldn’t support the imagery of this ‘Divine Nation’ for long; if it wasn’t for the Maid’s floating power, he would have already been sprawled on the floor exhausted.

“You, as Besong’s servants, as long as you are devout enough, can also become God’s servant in the future.” Bucky slowly descended, speaking calmly, “Besong, come and kiss my feet.”

Mr. Besong didn’t hesitate, bowed down, and gave a kiss on Bucky’s shoe.

Bucky laid his hand on Besong’s forehead, his palm flickering with light. Mr. Besong looked delighted and stood up with a refreshed face and vigorous spirit, as if he had suddenly become years younger.

“Messenger of God… we…” The crowd hesitated.

Bucky said calmly, “Besong, prepare a resting place for me. Tomorrow, I will select three from among your many servants for blessings, allowing them to feel my god’s grace.”

Besong was overjoyed and hurriedly arranged a place to stay.

Afterward, Mr. Besong, who had already been promoted to God’s servant, looked at everyone present, “Everyone, I feel better than ever, as if my body is filled with endless power…”

Saying this, Mr. Besong suddenly held a coffee table in the hall with both hands — the coffee table was carved from marble, luxurious and heavy, yet Mr. Besong easily lifted it and casually threw it aside.

Boom—!

The heavy crash shook the entire villa slightly.

“…So, everyone, won’t you hurry over to kiss my feet and become my servants?”

…

…

A series of continual and very orderly sounds arose.

When Caroline woke up, there was a movie projector set in front of her. The film flickered before Caroline’s eyes as it spun at high speed. She looked around, confused, realizing she was in a narrow room.

She wasn’t alone.

In front of her, there was a silhouette… it should be a man. Recalling the scene before she fell unconscious, Caroline instinctively grew tense.

This mysterious person who had kidnapped her was currently watching the movie on the screen ahead, seemingly in a daze.

Caroline instinctively shifted her body — she wasn’t tied up by the mysterious person, merely placed casually on the ground.

Because of the movement, Caroline unknowingly nudged the cabinet next to her. The mysterious person should have noticed, tilting his head slightly.

Under the projector’s intense light, Caroline couldn’t see this person’s appearance, but she heard his hoarse voice, “You’re awake?”

“Who… who are you?” Caroline nervously asked, “Where is this place? Why did you bring me here?”

The man continued watching the movie ahead, slowly saying, “This place used to be a hall, later became a venue for a film theater club… As for who I am, I am… the one who used to sit in Room 403.”

Room 403.

Caroline furrowed her brow, feeling this number was strangely familiar — suddenly, Caroline remembered what Room 403 referred to!

That’s precisely the place she’d been staying the past few days.

“Are you… Arno’s classmate?” Caroline was exceptionally surprised.

Since she moved into the dorm room the past two days, she had never seen ‘Arno’s classmate — but why would this person also sneak around at night?

“How much do you know about ‘Arno’?” The mysterious man tilted his head slightly again, asking.

Caroline stood up, then reached over carefully and picked up the film reel tray on the table, watching the place warily.

“If it weren’t for me, you’d have been discovered by Boston people, because you don’t know, there are still people outside keeping watch and if you just walked away like that… you’d probably be in a dangerous situation now, even then do you still want to attack me?”

Caroline retreated two steps, “But you… why are you helping me?”

“Why?” The man slowly stood up, facing Caroline.

Only then did Caroline get a clear view of the man’s appearance — or rather, she was so startled by it that she inadvertently let go, dropping the film reel tray onto the ground.

His head was wrapped in numerous bandages, the exposed skin appeared dry and wrinkled, like it had suffered severe burns, his voice even more hoarse and low, resembling the roar of a devil, making Caroline’s hair stand on end.

“…Because, you and I have mutual enemies.” The man pointed at his face, “The reason I’ve turned into this form is thanks to those two brothers!”

“Are you referring to Arno and… Harry?” Caroline opened her mouth in shock.
