Chapter 816: Chapter 60: Friday Without the Lord (2)

This is a cream-colored Puma-GTB, with the style of the previous world and still exceptional power, making it a head-turner on the streets—although it’s just an old classic car, it’s a star among classic cars.

For nostalgic car enthusiasts, they probably wish they could play with such a well-maintained car.

Of course, inside the classic car are also an old grandfather and a child.

Dr. Ferenc and his grandson Louis.

“The teacher at school says you can’t drive after drinking alcohol.”

Louis is about to graduate from primary school, but he seems to have inherited his mother’s genes, so he looks a bit cute and short. While playing a certain bird game on his phone, Louis glanced at Dr. Ferenc next to him.

“I didn’t drink alcohol,” the doctor insisted.

Louis said, “But you smell like alcohol.”

Dr. Ferenc still insisted, “Trust me, it’s just a drink, an adult drink. When you grow up, you’ll think so too.”

Louis shrugged, and suddenly asked, “Grandpa, don’t you know the way to the Science Museum?”

Dr. Ferenc said, “Oh! My dear Louis, how could you think I don’t know the way to the Science Museum?”

Louis rolled his eyes and said, “But you’ve been looking at the map since just now!”

Dr. Ferenc threw the map onto the back seat and said seriously, “Trust me, child, I’m just seeing if there’s a closer route.”

“Isn’t the Science Museum right ahead?” Louis pointed ahead, “Is there a closer route than a straight line?” Louis looked at the Science Museum right in front of him, continuing to roll his eyes.

“Oh… it really is.” Dr. Ferenc adjusted his reading glasses and stepped on the accelerator, causing the car to speed up.

“Slower…” Louis was startled and relaxed with difficulty, then asked again, “Grandpa, will they let us in? My deskmate Arv said the Science Museum is being renovated and not open for visits right now.”

Dr. Ferenc chuckled, “Don’t worry, the director is an old friend of mine, he’ll take good care of you. But after you visit, I need you to write a review for me. My dear Louis, I don’t think that will be difficult for you, right?”

Louis suddenly sagged his shoulders, Dr. Ferenc seemed to be in a better mood, so the cream-colored Puma-GTB slowly drove into the Science Museum’s parking lot.

Just as Dr. Ferenc said, the director is his old friend, so as soon as they got out of the car, the grandfather and grandson were received by the staff inside the museum.

“Doctor, the director is waiting for you in the office.”

“Oh, okay, thank you.” Dr. Ferenc nodded to the young employee and said, “This is my grandson, Louis. Could you please show him around? I’ll come find you later.”

“Of course.” The employee nodded politely.

…

No need for anyone’s company, Dr. Ferenc, who is exceptionally familiar with the Science Museum, quickly came alone to the director’s office.

The director is a bit younger than Dr. Ferenc, a skinny old man in his fifties, named Matthews.

He and Dr. Ferenc were students at the same university, many years ago they met at an alumni event, hit it off at first sight, and became longtime friends.

“How have you been, old friend.” Matthews appeared very happy about Dr. Ferenc’s arrival.

And since they are old friends, Dr. Ferenc obviously didn’t intend to conceal anything, but instead revealed a bitter smile, sat down, and said directly, “It’s been really bad.”

“I’ve heard some… about the theater things.” Matthews nodded, “But I don’t know the specific situation very well, what do you want me to do to help you?”

Dr. Ferenc said directly, “Matthews, thanks to you introducing Mr. Billy to me. We almost negotiated cooperation, but something happened in between… Now, Mr. Billy seems to be planning to terminate cooperation with me.”

Matthews frowned deeply and said nothing.

Dr. Ferenc had to ask expectantly, “Now, Mr. Billy keeps using healing as an excuse to refuse to meet. Old buddy, can you let Mr. Billy meet me again?”

“I’m just his not-too-close uncle.” Matthews suddenly sighed, “Old friend, listen to me, let this matter end here. Billy not wanting to meet you actually clearly indicates something.”

“Why, it was all going well before?” Dr. Ferenc got a bit agitated, “Trust me, after so many years, I’ve corrected all the mistakes in the initial data! As long as I get technological support from Layton Group, I can definitely successfully launch a satellite of our own.”

“In fact, I also look forward to seeing that day.” Matthews leaned back in his chair, but shook his head, “But I also know, currently, this is probably just an unrealistic idea. You probably don’t know yet? The people from Layton Group have raised the price for technical support. This quote has already far exceeded Billy’s expectations. They not only want the agreed rewards but also extra development rights for three mines for fifty years… Old buddy, three wealthy mines, this is something our entire family cannot bear.”

“Are they taking advantage of the situation?” Dr. Ferenc said angrily.

“Old friend, see the facts clearly, there’s no help without cause in the world. Remember, the other party is a capitalist.”

Dr. Ferenc was about to argue something, but Matthews said directly, “The Senate Speaker has died, now many people are plotting for this position. I won’t hesitate to tell you, Billy is also very interested in this position. Besides, the new round of elections is about to prepare soon, he hopes to invest funds in this war.”

Dr. Ferenc though sneered, “Election? Regime? Every time, every time, endlessly wasting fortune to compete for these things. After so many years, has any guy truly achieved consistency between his election words? Matthews, do you also think investing resources in power games is truly more important than using them to develop technology?”

“Ferenc, calm down.” Matthews kindly advised, “Billy wants to change this country from within. Ask yourself, when a system has rotted to its bones, how can it provide a truly good environment for research? Just wait, wait until after the election, when Billy wins, I’ll do my best to help you. Old buddy, this country still needs you, so please calm down for now and work on refining yourself.”

“I can’t wait that long.” Dr. Ferenc shook his head.

“Oh, old friend, you’re only 65 this year, I believe you’ll still be energetic in a few years. Because no one knows better than me how much you love your career, you never know fatigue.” Matthews slowly said, “Wait until after next year’s election, trust me, everything will get better.”

“I’ll find my own way.” Dr. Ferenc suddenly stood up and walked straight to the office door.

However, he also has the scholar’s side, so before going out he still took a deep breath, turned and looked at his old friend, “Thank you for your hospitality today, I think Louis will be happy.”

“Ferenc.” Matthews quietly watched Dr. Ferenc and suddenly sighed, “Old buddy, tell me, in your heart, is this persistence still the same persistence as back then?”

“I don’t understand what you’re saying.” Dr. Ferenc frowned.

“You should be clear.” Matthews shook his head, “Is it for your own relief, or like back then, for this country to have its own satellite.”

“Of course it’s…” Dr. Ferenc blurted out, but suddenly stopped, then suddenly said, “For our own satellite.”

“Is it really so?” Matthews stared at Dr. Ferenc for a long, long time, “Alright, old buddy, I’ll make one last effort to see if I can persuade Billy.”

“Thank you…”

…

The young curator walked with Louis in the technology museum, introducing the origins and stories behind various exhibits to him.

The child was very excited about the various technology-filled exhibits, and if it weren’t prohibited, he might not be able to resist touching them.

“What’s this?” Louis pointed to a large object in the corner of Hall Two.

Just as the young curator was about to answer, Dr. Ferenc’s voice came from afar, “This is the M901 satellite model, developed by our country, from assembly to parts, all completed here.”

“Grandpa.”

Louis looked at Dr. Ferenc walking over.

The doctor stood in front of the M901 satellite, silently gazing, deep in thought. The young curator, familiar with the history of the exhibits, said to Louis, “Louis, this satellite was completed under Dr. Ferenc’s command. Did you know that?”

“Wow!” Louis’ eyes widened, looking at his grandpa with amazement and delight, “Grandpa, you’re amazing!”

Dr. Ferenc simply shook his head, murmuring, “No matter how amazing something is, if it can’t reach where it’s meant to be, what’s the use?”

Louis didn’t hear him; he just moved closer to the satellite exhibit, wanting to see it all. Looking at the information on the plaque, he was surprised to find, “Really! Grandpa’s name is here! Constructor, Ferenc Beresmond! And…. Maggie. Maggie? Grandpa, this seems to be mom’s name?”

“Louis, it’s getting late, let’s go back.” Dr. Ferenc suddenly grabbed Louis’s arm, “You promised me that if I brought you to the technology museum, you’d study well from afternoon to evening. It’s time now.”

“Oh… alright.” Louis reluctantly agreed.

Soon, the young curator escorted Dr. Ferenc and Louis to the parking lot, then returned to his post.

After getting into the car, Dr. Ferenc suddenly said, “Louis, could you go ask that curator for two bottles of water? I’m a bit thirsty.”

“No problem.” Louis nodded.

Seeing Louis leave, Dr. Ferenc took a black leather notebook out of his clothes and started flipping through it.

He suddenly furrowed his brow as he found a black card had appeared on the notebook pages.

Dr. Ferenc picked up the black card, gazing at it for a long time, a trace of confusion flashing in his eyes, unable to recall how this thing came to be on him.

He just silently looked at it, lost in thought.

Until he felt his body being shaken, he snapped back to his senses, seeing Louis had somehow returned, holding two bottles of mineral water, calling his name repeatedly.

“Grandpa! What’s wrong?”

“Nothing, just thinking about something, got distracted.” Dr. Ferenc shook his head, tucked the black card back into the black notebook, then touched Louis’s head after putting it away: “Alright, where are we going now?”

“Didn’t you say we’re going home?”

“Oh… right, then let’s go home.”

After calming himself, Dr. Ferenc started the Puma-GTB.

…

…

In the evening, Bucky waited anxiously.

Because the maid who left after lunch hadn’t returned yet – unlike yesterday. Yesterday, she came right after lunch, urging him to practice the Meditation Technique.

Just as Bucky considered whether he should try his luck outside, footsteps suddenly came from behind.

Bucky knew the maid had arrived, so he quickly turned around.

At this moment, the maid wasn’t wearing her usual black-and-white maid outfit, but a casual dress with a light coat.

If he hadn’t seen this woman’s ‘true face’ before, Bucky might actually be deceived by her sudden display of innocence, perhaps asking something like how much per night.

“Didn’t I tell you to dress up?” You Ye looked at Bucky, her voice still so indifferent.

Bucky paused, then looked at himself, sniffed his collar, “I’ve dressed up well. This is the best I could find. You know, I don’t have a penny now. These clothes were the best I found from a nearby house, and I even took a bath. Look, it’s branded! Zegna! Though the size is a bit off, let’s manage, right?”

“It’s a counterfeit.” You Ye shook her head, “This style was designed by me five years ago, I can differentiate between real and fake.”

“…You designed it?” Bucky opened his mouth.

You Ye said indifferently, “Nothing much, just an old interest. I held a designer position at that company, but haven’t sent drafts for years.”

Holy… aren’t you supposed to be a bloody corpse??

“Fine, as you said, let’s manage.” You Ye shook her head: “I’ve never had expectations for your taste anyway.”

“Come to think of it, am I like your guest?” Bucky suddenly said, “Is this your customer service?”

The maid said woodenly, “I’m now just an auxiliary guide for faith collection, not serving you. If you don’t meet my expectations, and my Lord returns to see no results, I’ll decompose you into particles smaller than atoms, making you truly become a legend.”

“W-where are we going now!”

“The theater.”

Saying this, the maid threw a bottle to Bucky, filled with a light green liquid. The bottle was small, like a perfume bottle.

“What’s this?”

“For restoring your spiritual power.” You Ye said indifferently: “Don’t use too much, with your current level, just sniffing once is enough for restoration, overuse and your consciousness will explode, your brain will die.”

Bucky put it in his pocket without a second thought, nodding seriously.

The maid suddenly said coldly, “But tonight, your goal is to use it all.”
