701: Chapter 114: Turning a Blind Eye 701: Chapter 114: Turning a Blind Eye As the sun was about to set, in front of the mountain shrine, a young miko dressed in white clothes and a red skirt was sweeping the surroundings with a broom.

Her face, devoid of emotion, appeared eternally unperturbed in the glow of the sunset.

After a simple cleaning, the young miko began to burn the gathered fallen leaves.

As the sky grew darker and the flames started to rise, it seemed to reconcile the dimness to some extent.

The young miko hugged her knees and sat before the fire, all was silent.

Could she just stay like this forever?

The thought surged in the young miko’s heart.

She began to flip open an ancient text… something left behind during the day by a demi-demon whose strength was not remarkable, yet clamored to become the most powerful monster.

Back then, she promised Inuyasha that if he succeeded in killing a hundred monsters and brought back a hundred ancient texts, she would help awaken his monster bloodline to become a true monster.

Whether this decision was right or wrong, she couldn’t tell.

Finding ancient texts was easy, it was just a bit of her own small thought—she couldn’t leave the shrine, and could only learn more about the outside world through books.

But it was impossible to kill a hundred huge powerful monsters with a demi-demon’s body.

However, if he could complete the task as a demi-demon, Inuyasha, as a demi-demon, would indeed have undergone extensive training.

Even without awakening the bloodline, he would have enough power to prove something to his monster father.

But unfortunately, the demi-demon broke the agreement between them in the end… ultimately choosing to steal what was enshrined in the main hall while she wasn’t paying attention…

Unconsciously, the young miko had become immersed in the illustrations depicted by the text of the ancient book at hand.

It was a travelogue type of ancient text recording an unknown utopia.

Perhaps… only such records imbued with romantic hues would differ from the lies between people.

No need for any promises; it suffices to narrate an event, placing oneself at a detached, clear perspective.

Time seemed to gradually lose its significance to the young miko; she merely added some twigs to the firepile from time to time.

Perhaps moving back inside the shrine’s room would be better, but instead, it would destroy the current atmosphere.

All was silent, which meant loneliness… and loneliness was conducive to thinking.

But, contrary to cheer, this quietness was eventually disrupted.

At this moment, a figure, holding onto the railing of the shrine’s corridor, was cautiously surveying their surroundings.

Upon hearing the sound, the young miko finally withdrew from her thoughts and turned to look—this was the woman carried here on Inuyasha’s back, gravely injured.

But she wasn’t an ordinary woman… at least, during the treatment, the young miko realized this fact.

Awaji Island Princess…

She seemed slightly dazed upon seeing the miko, but not too frightened.

It was clear that the miko’s attire gave Awaji Island Princess some relief.

Regardless of which god the miko worshipped, it would surely be better than those lawless monsters. “Did you save me, young miko?” Awaji Island Princess nodded, “Who is this shrine dedicated to?

Why haven’t I felt any divine power?” “We do not worship anyone,” the young miko shook her head, “It’s merely used to store some items, don’t be confined by appearances.

Moreover, the person who treated you was indeed me; however, someone else brought you here.”

Awaji Island Princess furrowed her brow; typically, mikos had strong natural spiritual power and should’ve sensed her identity, but the small, young girl in front of her showed no reverence, “Who brought me here?”

The young miko frowned, thought for a bit, then said, “A silly demi-demon.”

Demi-demon…

A prestigious Munakata Goddess had actually fallen to being rescued by a dirty demi-demon… the miko’s words began to bring back recollections to Awaji Island Princess, of the figure she saw before falling unconscious… seemed like a young man in a bright red robe.

So, it was a demi-demon?

But now wasn’t the time to dwell on such matters.

She had made a discovery in Zaodao Village and must report to the Divine Lord, Amaterasu-ōmikami, as soon as possible.

Unexpectedly, right after leaving Zaodao Village, she was ambushed.

In a life-or-death situation, luckily she had sent her secretary, creating a decoy to fake her death, allowing her to escape.

Even so, she suffered grievous injuries! “How long have I been unconscious!” Awaji Island Princess, regardless of the young miko’s indifference, needed to confirm the time! “Since you came up here, about a day has passed.” “A day…” Awaji Island Princess bowed her head, her facial expression changing multiple times.

She wanted to walk down the shrine steps, but her body was too weak; even the slightest movement would tug on her wounds, causing waves of intense pain.

Under such circumstances, let alone returning to Takamagahara, she probably couldn’t even leave the shrine.

Awaji Island Princess quickly focused her gaze on the young miko in front of her, realizing that this miko’s spiritual power wasn’t weak. “Come here, I have some tasks for you,” Awaji Island Princess simply leaned against the shrine corridor steps, beckoning the young miko who guards the shrine.

She then realized the young miko just stood motionless in place, giving Awaji Island Princess the impression… that the miko seemed to have lost her soul.

At the same time, a sense of foreboding made Awaji Island Princess’s heart race.

She had a premonition and suddenly looked up.

Under the high-hanging moon, a petite shadow gradually appeared… it was a girl dressed in a pure white kimono.

The girl’s neck was adorned with a similarly white ribbon… unknown why such a ribbon was used to wrap her neck, but evidently, this wasn’t what concerned Awaji Island Princess. “It’s… it’s you!”

In an instant, Awaji Island Princess recognized the kimono-clad girl in the night sky under the moonlight as the assailant who ambushed and nearly killed her! “Indeed, Lord Arex was right, you didn’t die…” the kimono-clad girl slowly descended, eventually landing in front of Awaji Island Princess, extending a flawless, white palm.

Awaji Island Princess fearfully moved her body backward, backward, constantly backward, eventually leaning against the wall behind, retreating to no avail!

Her face showed a look of horror, powerless to resist in her weakened state.

She reflexively looked toward the young miko, thinking that even if she couldn’t escape her fate, she must at least, in the final moment, drag this terrifying kimono girl, allowing the miko a chance to escape… at least bring news of her situation to the Divine Lord Amaterasu-ōmikami!

But to Awaji Island Princess’s terror, she discovered the young miko’s gaze seemed to have lost its luster at that moment…

What kind of look was this?

It was as if she couldn’t see anything… as if her sight was directed here but had always turned a blind eye!

The kimono girl naturally noticed Awaji Island Princess’s actions but merely sneered, ultimately placing her palm upon Awaji Island Princess’s forehead.

A piercing scream resounded in front of the shrine… when the sound vanished, it was as if Awaji Island Princess had never existed. “Hmph.”

The girl in a kimono merely turned around and glanced indifferently at the young Mrs.

Witch, let out a faint cold snort, and her figure gradually disappeared…

Nothing could surpass Lord Arex’s wish.

She needed to transform into Amaterasu-ōmikami, join the Three Nobles, and capture the remaining two Nobles in front of Lord Arex.

The firewood of the bonfire cracked and snapped as it burned.

Before the shrine, the young Mrs.

Witch suddenly moved.

She tilted her head, a trace of doubt flashed in her eyes.

But this doubtful expression quickly vanished.

She sat by the bonfire once more, occasionally adding more branches, continuing to browse through the travelogue in her hands.

Time began to flow again.

She felt she could continue living like this forever.

The things described in the book were truly fascinating, so much so that she was reluctant to finish reading it all at once.

The young Mrs.

Witch’s lips curved into a small smile.

So let’s not finish it yet, thought the young Mrs.

Witch, but her fingers couldn’t help flipping to a new page.

Just as she was about to finish the night’s reading, the young Mrs.

Witch was surprised to find a black card tucked between the pages.

The Mrs.

Witch held the card in her hand, unsure of what material this black card was made of or why it was tucked in this ancient book…

However, it seemed just right to use it as a bookmark.

Since this black card interrupted her reading, she decided to stop here.

The young Mrs.

Witch closed the ancient book with both hands, then closed her eyes, showing a little lingering interest.

She stood up, the black card now serving as a bookmark, with only a small part visible. … …

What made Mo Xiaofei grateful was that Zi Xing, unlike that goddess, did not lose key parts of her memory due to the time reset.

The code name Zhen Long naturally became unnecessary.

And Zi Xing calmly stated that it was okay if Mo Xiaofei forgot the code.

Because the memory was intact, a lot of time was directly saved.

This time, Mo Xiaofei managed to rendezvous with Zi Xing, who was already at the Nagato House, without alarming anyone, and once again discussed the reasons for the ‘last time’ failure. “It was obvious that the shadow appearing before Lord Mo and the face resembling Narukami Haru’s might be the true cause of the time reset.”

Mo Xiaofei directly agreed with Zi Xing’s idea.

After some discussion, Mo Xiaofei and Zi Xing planned to explore the Nagato House’s dungeon again.

Given that Zi Xing’s methods managed to uncover things from Narukami Haru’s mouth that he couldn’t find out before, this direction wasn’t wrong.

And the method, since it involved doing it the same way as the last time—after all, if the steps were the same, venturing into the dungeon wouldn’t lead to any surprises.

As for whether the ‘Sasaki Kojiro’ event happened before or after, it didn’t really affect anything. “However, there is one thing I am still concerned about.” After agreeing on another action that night, Zi Xing, looking at Mo Xiaofei, voiced her thoughts: “Regarding Nagato Tsuruko, how much does Lord Mo know?”

Mo Xiaofei said solemnly: “According to the movie spoilers and discussions on the internet, her identity is the Pen Immortal.

The main female character travels from modern times to ancient times because of Nagato Tsuruko’s resentment.

In the story line, Nagato Tsuruko dies at a young age, but obviously, Nagato Tsuruko is still alive…

Now Nagato Saburo has also returned.

According to the plot unfold, the village will soon hold a festival, during which Nagato Tsuruko is killed, becoming a resentful spirit.

But you know, with the constant time resets, I can never reach the day the festival begins.”

Zi Xing lowered her head in thought, “Narukami Haru reacted very violently at the time, seemed very unwilling to give birth to Nagato Tsuruko.

And mentioned the word ‘monster’…

Is Nagato Tsuruko a monster?

There are probably many secrets of the Nagato family we cannot know.”

Mo Xiaofei sighed, “It’s a pity I can’t use my abilities anymore.

Otherwise, it wouldn’t be so hard to inquire.

The Nagato House, Lord Nagato, and Nagato Saburo must know something.

Unfortunately, although Nagato Saburo is generally drunk, his alertness is quite high, and as a samurai, his skills are probably pretty good.

Besides, I have limited time, three days before it resets.

So almost all ended in failure…

As for Lord Nagato.”

Recalling something dreadful, Mo Xiaofei said gravely, “Lord Nagato looks over fifty, but he’s extremely powerful!

Although I don’t know much swordsmanship, Sasaki Kojiro’s body is quite impressive, but whether it’s an ambush or facing directly, I haven’t managed to survive in Lord Nagato’s hands…” “Survive?” Zi Xing opened her mouth.

Mo Xiaofei smiled wryly, “I have been killed by Lord Nagato a total of thirty-four times…” “Such an elderly samurai?” Zi Xing was truly astonished.

Mo Xiaofei nodded, “This Lord Nagato is unbelievably strong, looking at him from a human perspective, he’s a monster level!” “Could it be related to the scary thing imprisoned in the Nagato family dungeon?” Zi Xing frowned. “Do you mean…

Lord Nagato’s power comes from the secret of the Nagato House’s dungeon?” “I don’t know for sure, but…” Zi Xing said seriously, “I think we should focus more on Nagato Saburo; after all, Lord Mo can capture and interrogate Nagato Saburo.”

Mo Xiaofei shook his head, “It’s useless, Nagato Saburo is too tight-lipped.”

Zi Xing suddenly sneered, “Then, if we bring Nagato Saburo to Narukami Haru’s presence, would it be different?

Or maybe, let’s stir the whole Zaodao Village into chaos, exposing the ‘Eternal Life Palace’ in the dungeon, and the fact that Narukami Haru isn’t dead!”

Mo Xiaofei moved his lips, showing a ghostly expression.

This Young man of the Greedy Wolf Clan…

Why does he always think of such crude ways to act?

But thinking…

If you can’t obtain more through normal ways, destroying everything completely might not be a bad way to break the stalemate!

Mo Xiaofei narrowed his eyes…

Sometimes, in order to achieve something, one might have to resort to any means, right? …

On the hill where the origin came—Da Zhe was thrown to the Ghost Island by Boss Luo from here. “Master?”

The Maid was looking at Luo Qiu curiously—delivering Christmas gifts here, now only Mo Xiaofei hasn’t received it yet.

Now, that gift, already prepared, was in Luo Qiu’s hand, but he hadn’t given it out yet. “Not the time.” Luo Qiu shook his head, directly putting the gift box away, and said to himself, “The taste has changed a bit…”
