733: Chapter 146: Heroes Do Not Need Mercy 733: Chapter 146: Heroes Do Not Need Mercy “Did that person really say that?”

In the Nagato House, Nagato Munachika was listening to the servant who had been sent to gather information.

His face remained expressionless, but a frightening glint of murderous intent flashed through his eyes.

The servant, with his head lowered, naturally did not see it. “Master, I saw it with my own eyes.

That lord… that person flew straight up into the air.

He even handed down two pills personally…” The servant repeated what he saw and heard in full detail and then said with a look of joy, “Master, if this person can really lift the curse of Zaodao Village, it would be a great joy for us!

We would no longer be trapped here, and even the women in the village wouldn’t have to…”

He naturally did not finish his sentence.

Because of the curse, many men in the village had to bear the pain of seeing their wives and daughters tainted by the Essence Qi of other men in order to survive—although these men could also touch the wives and daughters of others.

But Zaodao Village is such a small place; as the saying goes, you can’t avoid seeing each other daily, and with time, things change.

People are selfish creatures.

When they can touch others’ wives and daughters, the moral bottom line in their hearts drops tremendously, even satisfying a twisted desire in some.

But conversely, when their own wives and daughters face the same, naturally they are displeased. “Is anyone willing to try?” Nagato Munachika asked abruptly.

The servant quickly responded, “That person gave two pills, saying that if anyone wanted, they could try them.

This news spread, and until just now, two women who were on their last day today came forward, saying they intend to give it a try.”

Nagato Munachika frowned but said coldly, “Who are they?

Aren’t they afraid that this could be a scam, and they might lose their lives in the end?”

The servant answered, “These two women are married to men who cannot tolerate their wives being touched by other men… so they were driven out of their homes early on.

They have no place to go back to and are in despair, originally planning to throw themselves into the river.

Now, with this opportunity, they say they intend to give it a try no matter what.”

Nagato Munachika nodded, “Tell me the names of these two women.

In such a big matter, I should know who is willing to test the medicine.” “Master, these two are…” The servant quickly gave the names of the two women willing to test the medicine.

After that, Nagato Munachika sent the servant away.

Not long after, from behind the screen where Nagato Munachika sat, a figure slowly emerged.

If the servant were here, he might have called out Saburo Laoye.

The one who emerged was Nagato Saburo.

Nagato Munachika didn’t even glance at Nagato Saburo, “You heard who these two women testing the medicine are, right?

You should know what to do?”

Nagato Saburo did not even nod.

Holding a liquor pot in one hand, he staggered out of Nagato Munachika’s residence, reeking of alcohol.

What should be done?

Naturally, he needed to deal with these two women testing the medicine.

That way, the guy lingering at the Sacrificial Plaza couldn’t gain the trust of Zaodao Village’s people, right?

But a person who can fly… is it really that simple?

Nagato Saburo did not know.

Perhaps due to the alcohol, he even hoped that this mysterious samurai from outside could really do something for Zaodao Village… at least, it would be good if Nagato Munachika feared him.

He wondered if the servant had exaggerated.

If not, then defeating Nagato Munachika should be quite an easy task, right?

Nagato Saburo shook his head as he walked out the door of the Nagato House.

He needed to wait until nightfall to personally handle the two women who volunteered to test the medicine.

He could no longer remember how many times he had done similar things.

He only vaguely recalled that when he first smothered a man trying to escape the village, he was no longer himself, merely a dirty tool in Nagato Munachika’s hands. “Heh… today’s weather seems quite nice.”

Raising his head, Nagato Saburo looked at the dazzling sunlight overhead and couldn’t help but nostalgically recall the past—back when he practiced swordsmanship single-mindedly, aiming to surpass Nagato Munachika one day.

He wondered if he was as radiant as the midday sun during those times.

Forget it, forget it.

His hands had long since become unclean, no longer qualified to talk about his once lofty ambitions… yes, ever since he betrayed Narukami Haru and obtained the Nagato House’s secret techniques, he had been a humble, selfish… even cowardly person. ….

In a closed-off village, news traveled incredibly fast.

Soon after, the residence of the two women willing to test the medicine attracted many people—among them were mostly women, with men being only a small part.

Even so, this minority of men still stood in front of the women.

Some villagers in Zaodao Village had long since learned to forget.

As long as they could forget and pretend nothing happened, everything could return to normal—despite it happening once a month.

But what if the curse could be lifted? “Should we go in and take a look?

It’s almost midnight,” one person suggested.

But another shook his head, “No need, they said if they fail, they don’t want anyone to see them.

If they succeed, they’ll naturally come out on their own.

We should just wait patiently.”

Nagato Saburo was troubled by the thought that if these people kept watch around the two women, he wouldn’t have a chance to act.

Now that everyone was just waiting at the doorstep of the test subjects’ home, it naturally provided Nagato Saburo with great convenience.

He clandestinely climbed in from the back of the house, only to find a faint light emanating from the bedroom.

Nagato Saburo pressed his ear against the door but heard nothing; he instinctively opened the door a crack, to find the two women who tested the medicine seemingly asleep.

Normally, how could people fall asleep under such circumstances?

Nagato Saburo frowned, suspecting that it might be due to taking the mysterious samurai’s pills.

But this was better—since these two were asleep, it would be much more convenient when he made his move later.

Sorry.

Nagato Saburo whispered in his heart.

Many times, he didn’t understand why he continued to assist Nagato Munachika.

Every time he did something like this, a pain would stab at his heart, yet simultaneously… during such moments, he would achieve a fleeting tranquility.

Forgetting everything, surrendering his body to the instincts of killing, like soldiers on a battlefield using special drugs to forget their pain.

In the end, Nagato Saburo opened the door, feeling that he was indeed just an incapable man. “Is Nagato Munachika really that impatient?”

A voice, neither salty nor bland, suddenly appeared in the room—it was a man’s voice.

Though Nagato Saburo had become idle for a long while, years of training had still left him with instinctual alertness, “Who!” “Nagato Saburo, was this how you used to do it?

Secretly taking out those who didn’t believe in the curse?” “Who are you!”

It was as if a long-sealed door in his heart had opened, and Nagato Saburo let out a low roar towards the shadow inside the room. “Me?

To you, I’m probably just an illusion, right?” “You…”

In front of Nagato Saburo, a young man dressed in martial attire, much younger than him, stepped out from the corner of the room.

He met Saburo’s gaze but suddenly found himself unable to maintain eye contact.

Nagato Saburo instinctively moved his gaze away, only to return it suddenly—the appearance of this man was far too abnormal!

No, he already knew why he came here!

A sudden surge of murderous intent rose in Nagato Saburo’s heart, yet it vanished in an instant.

Perhaps this evil deed is about to end? “Do you want to die?” “What did you say?” Nagato Saburo once again met this mysterious warrior’s eyes and said in a deep voice, “Who exactly are you?” “You don’t have the courage to face Narukami Haru, even though you know she’s trapped beneath the dungeon of Nagato House.” “Who exactly are you!” In a moment of madness, Nagato Saburo dashed forward, grasping the mysterious warrior’s collar with both hands.

His eyes were fierce, like a wounded wolf lurking in a dark cave, licking its wounds. “Nagato Saburo, you are afraid to face Narukami Haru, you are afraid to confront Nagato Munachika, and even your reason for returning to Zaodao Village is not to heal.

The real reason is… you are a deserter from the battlefield.”

Between breaths, Nagato Saburo seemed like a raging sea wave, while the mysterious warrior resembled a breeze on the grassland. “I can offer you a chance to end all this, are you willing?” “A chance…” Nagato Saburo suddenly stopped, retreated two steps, feeling utterly powerless, and said with a bitter smile, “You have no idea, you simply don’t know how terrifying my brother is.

He’s powerful!

So powerful, he doesn’t seem human at all!” “Because Nagato Munachika isn’t really human in the first place.” “What?” Nagato Saburo was stunned.

But the mysterious warrior smiled a shy smile—Nagato Saburo found it incredible because this mysterious warrior looked at least twenty-seven or twenty-eight years old.

Yet, the smile resembled that of a young boy. “My name is Mo Xiaofei.

What about you?” “Saburo, Nagato Saburo…” he replied quietly.

Mo Xiaofei nodded, “Nagato Saburo, the nightmare of Zaodao Village, are you willing to join me in eradicating it?”

Nagato Saburo gave a bitter smile, “Eradicate?

Do you know what that’s really going to mean?

I can’t…”

But Mo Xiaofei said, “You’re afraid that if the curse were to be exposed to the villagers, the Nagato House would no longer be able to stand here, right?

Committing such crimes will tarnish the old glory of the Nagato House.

I think Nagato Munachika might have used this reason to bind you, right?

Although I don’t think it’s the main reason.” “You know everything!” Nagato Saburo’s face turned pale, feeling as though this mysterious warrior had seen through everything about him, leaving no secrets. “That’s not important.

What is important is whether you are willing to join me in wiping away this nightmare.” Mo Xiaofei extended the invitation once more. “What do you really want to do…” Nagato Saburo’s heart suddenly began to race.

This reaction is indeed genuine…

If I didn’t know everything here was just the indelible memory of that little girl, I might have considered it all real too?

Mo Xiaofei sighed softly, “Listen, I don’t intend to expose this deception—because the truth would be unbearable for everyone.

Those innocent girls, those dreams of a bright future, would be shattered by the truth.

The truth is too cruel, and I don’t even know how long it would take for such wounds to heal.” “You’re thinking of…” “Not exposing it,” Mo Xiaofei said gently, “I, or if you’re willing to join, then it would be we.

We just need to heal it…

Since there is this curse, we’ll drive away this cursed thing, that’s all.”

Mo Xiaofei spoke, looking at the two women in the room who bravely used the capsules, “As long as quietly waiting for tomorrow to come, everything will turn out better.”

Nagato Saburo’s face flickered with uncertainty.

He didn’t know the origin of the visitor but upon reflection, realized this might be the best solution.

The truth need not be known to the villagers, yet they can move towards new life, freed from Nagato Munachika’s grasp. “You will face my brother’s wrath.

You have no idea how strong he really is,” Nagato Saburo hesitated in the end. “I think I can handle him,” Mo Xiaofei suddenly shook his head, “Enough talk about him.

Let me ask you one last time, are you willing or not?

Do you want to continue being a drunken, dreaming deserter, or do you want to muster the courage to enter that dungeon, to apologize to the woman you once deeply loved?

Oh, one more thing.” “What else?” Nagato Saburo asked instinctively.

Mo Xiaofei said calmly, “If I kill you now, I wouldn’t feel any burden.

I’ve recently learned something: if it means saving more people, sacrificing a few might actually be worth it.”

Actually, heroes don’t need mercy; leave kindness to the past.

Then, become strong, to prevent more sorrow from appearing… transforming from crawling to walking steadily forward, even if the path is full of thorns.

Watching Nagato Saburo’s lips tremble, Mo Xiaofei suddenly took a deep breath and spoke loudly, “Nagato Saburo, dare you wield that three-feet sword and sever Nagato House’s sins!”

Clang—!!!

Instinctively, Nagato Saburo drew the Sidearm Sword from his waist, and swiftly cut a wound on his wrist, allowing blood to flow, “Suddenly, I don’t want to be drunk anymore.”
