Starting as a Blind Beggar and Becoming a God

Chapter 43: A Village in the SandstormChapter 43: A Village in the Sandstorm

”We can’t believe you based on just a few words from you.”

Wang Ping said, and the five people behind him nodded slightly. Chen Huaian’s appearance was too strange, and they had not noticed it before!
Moreover, judging from the position, Chen Huaian seemed to be always in front of them!
”Well, you guys wait here and I’ll go hunt for you, how do you think this works?”

Chen Huaian said that it was normal for Wang Ping and others to be wary of him. It would be abnormal if they let him follow them without any vigilance.

Then Chen Huaian would most likely regard them as the sand bandits they mentioned.

”This...” Wang Ping seemed a little embarrassed. Chen Huaian was a stranger to them, but he said he would help them hunt in exchange for taking him out of the yellow desert. This transaction was obviously not equal.

Wang Ping and his men knew exactly how many dangers there were in this forest, otherwise they would not have called upon the strong men in the village to come hunting together.

”Okay, the prey you kill will belong to us, and we will take you out of this yellow sand.”

Someone behind Wang Ping said, Wang Ping quickly turned around, glared at him, and whispered, ”Zhao Laoer, stop talking.”

Wang Ping didn’t think that Chen Huaian would agree to Zhao Laoer’s request, because the forest was too dangerous. Even though Chen Huaian had stood on the edge of the forest before, he thought that Chen Huaian did not go deep into the forest, but just wandered around the edge.

Just when Wang Ping was about to reject Chen Huaian, Chen Huaian took the lead and said, ”Okay.”

Wang Ping was shocked. He didn’t expect Chen Huaian to agree without hesitation. This was really beyond his expectations.

After Chen Huaian finished speaking, he led the old cow into the forest and said, ”Just wait for me for half a minute.”

Zhao Laoer, who was standing behind Wang Ping, saw Chen Huaian completely walk into the forest. He walked up to Wang Ping and asked him, ”Can we really trust this blind man?”

When Wang Ping heard what Zhao Laoer said, he immediately flew into a rage. ”Shut up! If you hadn’t been so nosy, we could have gone in to hunt by ourselves. Now, a blind man has gone in.”

”Who knew that blind man would agree...”

Zhao Laoer’s voice became smaller and smaller, and even if Wang Ping wanted to hit him, he was helpless. There were not many young and strong laborers left, and each one of them was very precious.

”Then what should we do now?”

Someone behind Wang Ping asked, and Wang Ping shook his head slightly. Now he didn’t know what to do.

Go in now? That’s impossible. Chen Huaian has already gone in. If he doesn’t pay attention and the insects and beasts inside get angry, they might all die in this forest.

If they don’t go in, there will be no food. At this moment, he feels very troubled and has no idea what to do.

However, when he was at a loss, Chen Huaian appeared in front of them dragging a huge wild boar.

His eyes were dull as if he had been struck by lightning. Such a big wild boar was enough for their village to eat for at least seven days.

”I was really lucky. I went in and saw this wild boar fighting with another pig. The wild boar didn’t win and died on the spot.”

”Luckily I exercise regularly, otherwise I might not be able to drag this wild boar.”

Chen Huaian said that he didn’t care whether they believed it or not, as long as they abided by what they had said before.

Wang Ping listened to Chen Huaian’s words with suspicion in his eyes. Could it be that Chen Huaian’s luck was really that good?
But Zhao Laoer and others didn’t care about all this. What they saw was the food in front of them and the problem of filling the stomachs of the villagers.

”Brother Wang, now we don’t have to go out hunting for at least seven days. I believe the sand bandits won’t dare to harass us again in the short term.”

Zhao Laoer said this with excitement in his eyes. ”Hey, what’s your name, blind man? You’re so lucky.” Zhao Laoer asked.

”I am Chen Huaian.”

Chen Huaian replied with a faint smile on his face, which made people feel favorable towards him.

What’s more, Chen Huaian also brought them seven days of food rations, which made their favorability towards Chen Huaian soar. Although Chen Huaian is still very suspicious now, Chen Huaian has never revealed any hostility towards them from beginning to end, which made their favorability towards Chen Huaian even higher.

But in this land of yellow sand, it is very difficult to gain the trust of others.

”Chen Huaian? Nice name.” Wang Ping said.

”Then you just follow us closely from now on. I will take you back to our village first and then send you away the next day. Do you think this is okay?” Wang Ping asked.

Chen Huaian nodded slightly. He just wanted to take a night’s rest. He hadn’t slept in a bed for a long time. These days he either lay on the ground or slept on a tree. This made him miss the comfort of a bed.

Chen Huaian and Wang Ping and their group set off. Before setting off, Wang Ping handed Chen Huaian a piece of cloth and asked him to cover his mouth and nose.

But Chen Huaian noticed that everyone else was wearing one, except Wang Ping. ”It seems that he gave me his headscarf.”

Thinking of this, Chen Huaian rejected Wang Ping’s kindness. Although Wang Ping was a little confused, he did not force it.

Chen Huaian knew very well that the yellow sand did not pose much threat to him. He was just afraid of having no food and losing his direction in the yellow sand.

Now that he had someone leading the way, he was not worried about this problem at all.

During the journey, Wang Ping looked at Chen Huaian from time to time. He was surprised to find that when the yellow sand reached Chen Huaian, it was bounced away! It seemed that there was an unknown force helping Chen Huaian to isolate the yellow sand.

From then on, Wang Ping confirmed his guess that Chen Huaian was definitely not an ordinary person. At least, if he wanted to kill them, it would be absolutely easy.

He didn’t need to hunt for them to gain their trust. For Chen Huaian, killing them was as easy as blowing dust.

They were silent all the way. Although Zhao Laoer and the others had developed a good impression of Chen Huaian, it did not mean that they had let down their guard. So, except for Wang Ping who would talk to Chen Huaian from time to time, the others either talked to each other or remained silent. They would not take the initiative to talk to Chen Huaian.

After walking for about two hours, Wang Ping and his group slowed down, and a village entrance appeared vaguely in the distance.

Chen Huaian and Wang Ping came to the village gate. Wang Ping suddenly said to Chen Huaian, ”Brother Chen, this is our village. It’s a little shabby, I hope you don’t mind.”

Wang Ping is not like Zhao Laoer and others. He is very sharp-minded. Although he doesn’t know why Chen Huaian appears here, he is sure that Chen Huaian has no ill will towards them, so his way of addressing him has become more intimate and he begins to call Chen Huaian ”Brother Chen”.

Zhao Laoer and others didn’t understand why Wang Ping suddenly acted like this, but Wang Ping always had his reasons for doing things, so they didn’t ask Wang Ping any more questions.

”I’m used to living with the sky as my blanket and the ground as my bed. Why should I mind?” Chen Huaian replied.

After hearing what Chen Huaian said, Wang Ping laughed out loud, then led Chen Huaian into the village.

As soon as he entered the village, Chen Huaian felt something was wrong, and he asked Lao Niu what was going on.

The old cow cried softly, and Chen Huaian then understood some of the situation in this village;
In the yellow sand, the whole village was shrouded in dimness.

The adobe house was looming in the wind and sand, and the gravel hit the doors and windows, making a dull sound. The old locust tree in the village swayed vigorously, and its branches trembled in the wind...
