Starting as a Blind Beggar and Becoming a God

Chapter 7: The Cow Eating BeefChapter 7: The Cow Eating Beef

Chen Huaian originally wanted to ignore this matter. He believed that if he took a step back, the world would be broader and he would feel better. However, the result was that the more he thought about it, the angrier he got.

”I can’t stand it. I have to catch this thief.”

Chen Huaian thought about it and came up with a plan in his mind. He put the last piece of meat on the fire to roast it, and then he jumped onto a tree and watched quietly.

He waited from noon till dusk but nothing came to steal the meat, and the fire had long gone out. Just when he was about to give up, he heard a rustling sound in the distance. Chen Huaian suppressed his excitement and murmured in his heart, ”He’s taken the bait.”

Chen Huaian listened from the side, and when the thief was about to get close to the piece of meat, Chen Huaian immediately jumped down from the tree. The thief didn’t react in time and screamed out in fear, ”Moo!”

”ox?”

The cow’s cry was clear and high-pitched, and Chen Huaian had already guessed that it was a young thief.

The calf turned and ran away. Chen Huaian immediately followed it according to the sound, ”Thief, give me back my meat!”

”Moo!”

The calf screamed, but Chen Huaian didn’t understand. He jumped in front of the calf and pointed at it with his crutch. Then the calf screamed again, but Chen Huaian didn’t understand and thought it was begging for mercy.

”It’s quite clever,” Chen Huaian said softly, but he immediately realized a problem. This cow eats meat! And it’s beef...

”A meat-eating cow, what if it eats people? I can’t let you go!”

Chen Huaian raised his stick and was about to chop it down. At this time, the calf cried out again, loudly, as if to say, ”I don’t eat people.”

”You’ve never eaten humans?” Chen Huaian asked the calf tentatively. The calf actually nodded at Chen Huaian. Seeing this, Chen Huaian put away his anger and said, ”Want a companion?”

The calf nodded again, ”It’s really spiritual, the meat should be delicious...”

Chen Huaian was muttering to himself. The calf saw Chen Huaian facing it. Even though there was a cloth between them, it still felt a chill down its spine.

In fact, Chen Huaian didn’t have any idea. He saw that the cow was so spiritual, so he wanted to make a companion. Moreover, this cow had a gentle temperament. Although it ate meat, it didn’t have any violent aura. It should be that it only ate meat occasionally.

”You don’t have a name yet. You should be a black cow, so I’ll call you Xiao Hei.”

Xiao Hei was indeed black, and looked a lot like a water buffalo used for farming, but there was something different about it. Chen Huaian couldn’t tell what the difference was, but maybe it was because it ate meat...

Xiao Hei howled, expressing his dissatisfaction with the name, but Chen Huaian ignored his howling. He turned around and asked Xiao Hei, ”There’s nothing to eat. Do you know if there’s anything to eat nearby?”

Chen Huaian asked Xiao Hei, there were no wild animals nearby, and Xiao Hei only encountered one because he stole his meat.

After Chen Huaian asked, Xiao Hei gestured with its hoof, but it was a little far away from Chen Huaian and Chen Huaian could not see clearly. He asked Xiao Hei to come closer, and Xiao Hei’s waving hoof almost hit Chen Huaian in the face. Chen Huaian suspected that it did it on purpose, but he had no evidence.

But Chen Huaian also roughly guessed what Xiao Hei meant. There was a very powerful mountain king in the east, and most of the wild beasts nearby were controlled by him, which made this forest look particularly deserted.

”Then how did you escape?” Chen Huaian looked at Xiao Hei with his eyes covered by black cloth, as if he wanted to see through Xiao Hei.

Xiao Hei continued to gesture with his hooves, and the man and the cow communicated ”without barriers” in this way. After Xiao Hei’s gestures for a while, Chen Huaian Ye roughly understood what was going on.

Xiao Hei was also controlled, but he still had some consciousness. He was extremely scared at the time, and the fear and desire to survive made him escape, but he did not say how he escaped.

It wasn’t until Chen Huaian saw Xiao Hei grinding the tree with his horn from time to time that he roughly understood. He couldn’t help but feel nervous, ”There’s something wrong with this Xiao Hei...”

When Chen Huaian and Xiao Hei cleared up their misunderstanding, the sky had already darkened, and the bright moon shone from the sky. Chen Huaian started a fire and shared the last piece of meat with Xiao Hei. ”This is my last piece of meat.” Chen Huaian said, and he handed the meat over. Xiao Hei took it, but it took a lot of effort to get it...

Xiao Hei let out a dissatisfied cry because Chen Huaian was just being polite to him. He thought he would refuse, but he didn’t, so he had to spend a lot of effort.

While the man and the cow were eating, Xiao Hei pointed to the east with his hoof. It meant to ask Chen Huaian whether he wanted to punish the mountain king. Chen Huaian answered decisively, ”No.”

Xiao Hei hung his head, not knowing what he was thinking.

Chen Huaian keenly sensed Xiao Hei’s changes and asked, ”Do you have a grudge against him?”

Xiao Hei made a cross with his hoof, indicating no. Chen Huaian was curious about this. He wanted to know why Xiao Hei wanted to go to the Mountain King. He asked, ”Then why do you want to go there?”

After hearing what Chen Huaian said, Xiao Hei pointed at Chen Huaian’s meat with his hoof, with an expression of enjoyment on his face.

Chen Huaian looked at the meat in his hand, then at the enjoyment on Xiao Hei’s face, and blurted out, ”Delicious?”

Xiao Hei nodded frantically, but Chen Huaian was still decisive, ”No.”

The reason why Chen Huaian didn’t go was simple: he was afraid he couldn’t win.

Xiao Hei was a little depressed. He thought that after hearing this, Chen Huaian would go to the east to meet the mountain king. He didn’t expect Chen Huaian to refuse so decisively.

Chen Huaian ignored Xiao Hei. He walked to the side, took out his flute and started playing Wugui. This was the flute he played every night and he would not stop unless there were special circumstances.

The melodious sound of the flute rang out in the forest, like the joy of a returning traveler, or the sorrow of separation...

Chen Huaian has been playing the flute very frequently recently, as if he has something on his mind.

Xiao Hei was listening quietly at the side. After Chen Huaian finished playing, he turned around and saw Xiao Hei’s intoxicated expression. He couldn’t help but joked, ”I didn’t expect you to understand music.”

After hearing this, Xiao Hei turned his head away, his expression seemed to say, ”Who are you looking down on?”

Chen Huaian turned his head and looked at the bright silver moon in the sky. He felt an indescribable emotion in his heart. He had been in this world for almost three months, but he still felt that he could not fit in. It seemed that there was nothing in this world that he cared about...

”Hey, I should have bought some wine earlier. But the wine in this world isn’t that mellow. I still have to make my own. Maybe I can make a lot of money from it if I find an opportunity.”
