Starting as a Blind Beggar and Becoming a God

Chapter 3: The Young Hero of the Li FamilyChapter 3: The Young Hero of the Li Family

Chen Huaian did not leave this time. Since the last time he killed three thieves, no one has come to investigate. Perhaps it was because of the turbulent world, or maybe those three people were not good people.

Chen Huaian simply dealt with the bodies and then threw them into a mass grave. The number of bodies in the mass grave was increasing every day, which had never happened before.

”I wanted to play a song for you, but now is not the right time...”

He killed someone and then played a song for others. If anyone knew what Chen Huaian was thinking, they would definitely call him a lunatic. Who would play a song for the victim after killing someone?
Chen Huaian did not stay for too long. He returned home, sprinkled a handful of wood ash on the bloodstain, and then went back to bed to sleep.

After he fell asleep, the system’s voice suddenly sounded, but the voice was so vague that he couldn’t tell whether it was a man or a woman.

”The great era is coming, and you can’t avoid it. You set up a game, and you are the chess player. Shangguan Yunxi, Murong Wan’er, Chu Zangfeng... You are playing a really big game.”

After the system finished speaking, the sound suddenly disappeared.

……

It has been a month since he came to Anyuan Town. During this month, Chen Huaian let the people of Anyuan Town know that he was a madman who could play music. These two obviously came to Anyuan Town not long ago, otherwise they would not have set their sights on targeting a madman.

The next morning, a hurried knock on the door woke Chen Huaian up. Chen Huaian got up and opened the door, only to see a thinly dressed girl standing in the snow, rubbing her body, trying to keep warm.

”Where are the clothes I bought for you?” Chen Huaian asked. The girl was Chen Huaian’s neighbor. Her name was Xiaozhi. She was about thirteen years old. She had a frail and sick mother. Chen Huaian learned that Xiaozhi’s mother, Jiang, had been bedridden for three years. Chen Huaian speculated that she might not survive this year.

Her family relied on her father to chop firewood for a living, but her father had been in the mountains for half a month and there had been no news, so he must have met with an accident.

Chen Huaian claimed that he was not a good person, but he could not just stand by and watch. He provided appropriate assistance to Xiaozhi’s family, and the relationship between their two families gradually became closer.

”Give it to my mother. She is weak and I can’t let her catch a cold again.”

After hearing this, Chen Huaian did not say anything, but quietly unbuttoned his clothes and put them on Xiao Zhi.

”Thank you, Brother Huai’an.” Xiao Zhi said with a smile, her face full of innocence. Her face was red from the cold, which made people feel a little distressed.

”Is there anything wrong?” Chen Huaian asked. Xiao Zhi usually stays at home to take care of his mother and rarely goes out.

”Li Si from the Li family has fought against evil and brought peace to the people. The town has decided to hold a celebration banquet for his class and invite everyone in the town to attend. My mother wants to ask if you want to go?”

Chen Huaian thought about it and remembered that someone had pretended to be him and went to the government office to collect the reward, which was a full three hundred taels of silver. This money was enough for the Li family to live the rest of their lives without worries. Chen Huaian didn’t care if someone had taken the credit for him. He felt that it was just a good thing that someone was attracting attention so that no one would notice him.

Chen Huaian thought that a free meal should not be wasted, so he said, ”Go.”

”Okay, I’ll go back and clean it up.”

Xiao Zhi was very happy. Without waiting for Chen Huaian’s response, she jumped away.

Xiaozhi’s family rarely has good meals throughout the year, so it is a happy thing for her to be able to go to the Li family for dinner.

Chen Huaian couldn’t help but smile bitterly. When he first came, Xiao Zhi was very shy because he would laugh from time to time and looked like a madman.

However, Chen Huaian always played the flute. There was a special kind of melody in his flute sound, which Xiaozhi liked very much.

Moreover, Chen Huaian would occasionally say things that Xiaozhi had never heard before. Xiaozhi was very curious. Once, she stood outside Chen Huaian’s door and asked curiously. She thought Chen Huaian didn’t hear it, but he turned around and explained to her with a smile. Xiaozhi and Chen Huaian’s relationship was also strengthened at that time.

Soon, Xiao Zhi had packed up. She went back to make medicine for her mother, simmering it over low heat so that she would not be left without medicine when she returned.

”done?”

”Ah.”

”Then let’s go.” ”Okay.” Xiao Zhi nodded obediently, and the two walked towards the Li family together.

”Brother Huai’an, can you tell me the story you didn’t finish telling last time?”

”Last time?”

Xiao Zhi seemed a little anxious. She was afraid that Chen Huaian had forgotten, so she quickly said, ”It’s the story of Hou Yi shooting down nine suns.”

Chen Huaian thought about it and realized that he had indeed told Xiaozhi this story, but as it was already late at night and Xiaozhi had to go back to boil medicine, he did not continue telling it.

Chen Huaian began to tell the story after Houyi shot down the sun, ”The world returned to normal, and Houyi went to seek the elixir of immortality...”

When Chen Huaian was almost done talking, they were almost at the door of the Li family.

”Is there really an elixir of life in this world?” Xiao Zhi asked, eyes full of curiosity.

”These are all myths. Just listen to them as stories.”

”Oh.” Xiao Zhi’s tone was a little frustrated. Chen Huaian knew what she was thinking. She wanted the elixir of immortality to save her mother, but this was just a myth after all and should not be taken seriously.

”Hey, please come in.”

”Since you’re here, why bring any gifts?” Although he said this, he still took the gift and sent the guest in with a smile.

When Chen Huaian and Xiao Zhi walked to the door of Li’s house, they saw many people delivering gifts to the Li family, trying to establish good relationships with them. If the relationship with such a hero was handled well, it would also provide an extra layer of protection in these troubled times.

The man who was receiving guests at the door was now all smiles, with his back straight and his head held high, as if he had just killed the three thieves.

Chen Huai and Xiao Zhi gradually walked in. When the man saw Chen Huaian and Xiao Zhi, the smile on his face disappeared instantly.

”Go away, go away. Today is a good day for the Li family and we don’t entertain lunatics and beggars.” The name of the lunatic had spread throughout Anyuan Town, so much so that the man forgot that he was still blind.

The man waved his hands and told Chen Huaian and Xiao Zhi to leave quickly.

”Isn’t the Li family inviting everyone in Anyuan Town to a banquet today? Why are they treating everyone differently?” Chen Huaian asked. He was just telling the truth, but it made the man extremely impatient.

”That’s me, get out of here!”

”Brother Huaian,” Xiao Zhi said in a very low voice, pulling the clothes that Chen Huaian was mending, but Chen Huaian did not intend to leave. If you look at his face, there is no fear on his face, and he even wants to laugh.

He has seen too many people like this since he came to this world. He needs to be strong towards such people instead of compromising.

Seeing that Chen Huaian didn’t leave, the man got angry and said, ”You don’t want to drink the wine, right? Come on, kick him out!”

Six strong men walked out from behind that man. Most people would have been scared to the point of their legs going weak and collapse to the ground if they saw these six strong men. However, this had no effect on Chen Huaian.

The man made a gesture to the six people, and the six people walked towards Chen Huaian. Chen Huaian protected Xiao Zhi behind him. A big battle could break out at any time.

”Stop.” A voice sounded, and the six men retreated. Chen Huaian didn’t know who he was. After Xiao Zhi’s reminder, he found out that this man was the father of the Li family hero - Li Wei.

”Li Kai, I told you that the Li family will host a banquet for everyone in the town today. You are acting like this, are you ignoring my words?”

Li Kai was shocked and sweat started dripping from his body in the cold winter, which showed how scared he was of Li Wei.
