Starting as a Blind Beggar and Becoming a God

Chapter 27 The Strange GrandparentsChapter 27 The Strange Grandparents

The more Dazhu looked at Chen Huaian, the more unhappy he became. He couldn’t understand why Li Shi wanted to recruit a blind man into the team.

”You blind fool, you’d better be sensible and leave at night, otherwise... don’t blame me for being rude.”

Dazhu said sinisterly, the sneer on his lips seemed to be able to freeze a person’s soul. He looked at Chen Huaian with fierce eyes.

Chen Huaian seemed not to feel anything and sat on the old cow, feeling relaxed and at ease.

”Everyone, the journey is boring, I’m going to perform a song for you.”

When Li Shi heard this, he instantly became interested and asked, ”Brother Chen, can you also play music?”

”of course.”

As Chen Huaian spoke, he took out the flute from his waist and played ”Wu Gui”.

The sound of the flute rang out, echoing in the woods. The group felt very comfortable listening to Chen Huaian’s music.

After the group listened to Chen Huaian’s music, Li Shi was the first to applaud, followed by the others.

”Brother Chen, we are all rough guys and don’t know much about music theory, but you played this piece really well, better than any I’ve heard before.”

Li Shi said with a smile that he was not lying, the music Chen Huaian played was indeed the best he had ever heard.

Dazhu snorted again, his eyes full of disdain, ”Isn’t it just playing a tune? Can this tune save lives when you are in danger, or can it help please the enemy?”

Dazhu’s voice was not loud, but it was just loud enough for the twelve people to hear. Li Shi was the first to react. He said in a deep voice, ”Dazhu, if you still want to join us, shut up.”

When Dazhu heard Li Shi’s voice, his eyes widened instantly and he looked at Li Shi in disbelief. He didn’t expect that Li Shi would turn against him for a blind man whom he had only known for half a day.

”You! Li Shi, you are very good.”

Li Shi snorted coldly and didn’t want to talk to Dazhu.

He turned around and looked at Chen Huaian, and said, ”Brother Chen, don’t worry about it. My brother is just like that. Don’t take it to heart.”

Chen Huaian smiled slightly and said, ”It doesn’t matter. I don’t care about these things.” The reason why Chen Huaian played the flute at this moment was just his habit. To be more precise, he just wanted to play the flute.

”This Li Shi is a smart man.” Chen Huaian said in his heart.

Li Xiaoling, who was in the carriage, heard Chen Huaian’s flute and showed a happy expression on her pretty face, ”This blind man plays a really nice tune.”

If Chen Huaian heard what Li Xiaoling said, he would definitely say in his heart: ”System products must be top-notch.”

The group spoke very little during the rest of the journey. The fatigue from the journey made them talk very little, so they set up camp before nightfall.

”Brother Chen, here you go, this is dry food, we all eat this.”

”Thanks, I have my own dry food.” Chen Huaian said. Li Shi took back his dry food upon seeing this. Li Shi guessed that Chen Huaian was worried about him, so he did not leave his dry food.

But Chen Huaian didn’t think so. He simply didn’t want their dry food.

Dazhu was watching the movements between Chen Huaian and Li Shi carefully. Seeing that Chen Huaian did not take the dry food from Li Shi, he said sarcastically, ”Oh, are you afraid that we will poison you?”

Li Shi was furious when he heard this. ”Dazhu, if you keep talking like this, I won’t bring you with me next time.”

Dazhu was so angry that he gritted his teeth, but there was nothing he could do. He could only snort coldly and walk away.

Li Xiaoling was watching with a frown on her face, but she didn’t say anything.

”Cough, cough, cough...” The sudden coughing sound put everyone on alert.

”Where did that cough come from!” Li Shi was shocked. Others also drew their weapons and the atmosphere instantly became tense.

However, Chen Huaian was still sitting there, seeming out of place with them. Seeing this, Dazhu snorted again, but this time Li Shi ignored him. At the moment, he didn’t have time to pay attention to him.

”Good Samaritan, good Samaritan, please don’t do anything.”

A low and slow voice sounded, and it was obvious that it was the voice of an elderly person.

Sure enough, two figures walked out of the darkness, one old and one young. The old man had loose skin and a hunched body, and a young girl hid behind her, looking very scared.

Li Shi frowned when he saw the two men. Based on his experience, this was very wrong.

”Good people, my grandparents and I came to the mountains to collect herbs, but we got lost accidentally and haven’t eaten for three days. Can you be kind enough to give us something to eat?”

The old woman sobbed as she spoke. The girl behind her had tears in her eyes. She looked so pitiful that people couldn’t help but want to help them.

However, the people from the escort agency and Chen Huaian were basically indifferent, except for one person.

”Old man, you are so pitiful. I have some dry food here. Come and eat it.”

Li Xiaoling sobbed as she handed over the dry food. It was obvious that she was sympathized by the grandparents and grandchildren.

Li Shi stretched out his hand to stop them, but he was a step too slow. Li Xiaoling had already handed the dry food to the grandparents.

The grandparents and grandchildren took the dry food and started eating it in big mouthfuls. It seemed that they were really hungry.

Li Shi looked at the grandparents and grandchildren eating with big mouthfuls, and most of his doubts were dispelled, but this did not mean that he completely let down his guard.

When the others saw the pitiful grandparents and grandchildren, they had already let down their guard and gathered around them, showing concern for them. They took out their own dry food and handed it to them.

The old woman thanked with tears in her eyes: ”Thank you, kind-hearted person, thank you, kind-hearted person...”

There was one person who did not move from beginning to end, and that was Chen Huaian. This gave Dazhu a chance to perform.

”Oh my, Li Shi, this is the blind man you wanted to protect even when you broke up with me. He’s still sitting on the ground. Could he be scared silly?”

Dazhu laughed at him, and Li Shi frowned slightly. He asked in his heart, ”Did I really recognize the wrong person?”

Then he shook his head. Since he had already let Chen Huaian join the team, it was impossible to kick him out. This was not Li Shi’s style.

Li Xiaoling saw Chen Huaian sitting on the ground and shook her head slightly, ”He’s just a blind man who can play the flute.”

The others also treated him coldly. Even if they had no ability, they should at least have some sympathy. Now they were still sitting there. They had already labeled Chen Huaian as cold-blooded and heartless and began to distance themselves from him.

Even if he is just a blind man, human nature is selfish. They don’t care whether you are blind or not. They only care whether you stand on the same side with them.

After the grandparents and grandchildren had eaten, Li Xiaoling took the initiative to let them stay overnight and promised to escort them all the way until they reached a safe place.

Li Shi originally wanted to refuse, but when he saw the look on Li Xiaoling’s face, he had to give up.

”Everyone, go to bed early. We have to travel early tomorrow morning.”

As Li Shi finished speaking, everyone began to look for comfortable places to rest.

Chen Huaian, who had been silent before, shook his head slightly, ”Saint Mary’s heart...”
