Starting as a Blind Beggar and Becoming a God

Chapter 21 Hope of Healing the EyesChapter 21 Hope of Healing the Eyes

”Can that blind man see us?” asked a man in white.

The other man in white rolled his eyes at him and said unhappily, ”You said he was blind, how could he see us?”

”But he was clearly looking in our direction just now...”

The man frowned slightly and said unconfidently: ”Maybe... it’s a coincidence.”

”It’s time to go back and report.” The man said, and the two men in white left. Even Qin Yun didn’t notice their arrival, which shows how powerful they are.

They left, and no one knew who the person who spied on Chen Huaian and the others was. Only shallow footprints were left on the snow to prove that they had been there.

After they left, a person quietly appeared in the place where they were before.

”It seems that the peaceful life is about to be disrupted.”

……

”Where did you go?” Qin Yun asked Chen Huaian. Not long after Chen Huaian closed the shop, he went out. He said he went out to buy something, but his hands were empty, which prompted Qin Yun to ask.

”I was going to buy some spices for cooking, but the store was closed today, so it was a wasted trip.” Chen Huaian said, with a serious expression on his face, as if he was really going to buy something.

”Okay then, I’ll leave the cooking to you.” Qin Yun said with a smile, as if she was not affected by what happened this morning.

”Okay, go and warm yourself by the fire first, I can cook quickly.”

”Okay.” Qin Yun sat next to Bai Ling’er and A Tie. Chen Huaian was cooking and didn’t give them any advice. Qin Yun felt that she had nothing to do, so she started telling them a story.

Those are all her stories, stories of her bloody battles on the battlefield.

……

Qin Yun was so engrossed in her talk, perhaps it was her way of venting her emotions, that she didn’t even notice that Chen Huaian had brought the dishes.

Bai Ling’er and Atie were also fascinated by what they heard. Bai Ling’er could never have imagined that there would be such an extraordinary woman in the world, who went on the battlefield to kill the enemies, as brave as a man and so heroic.

Chen Huaian was serving the dishes silently. She knew who Qin Yun was talking about, and she also knew that Qin Yun needed to vent her emotions.

So, even when the food was ready, Chen Huaian did not call them. He let Qin Yun talk while Bai Ling’er and A Tie listened.

At some point, Qin Yun seemed to realize that she had gone too far and she stopped telling the story. Bai Ling’er and A Tie had expressions of wanting more.

Qin Yun smiled and said, ”It’s time to eat. We’ll talk about it another day.”

Then she looked at Chen Huaian, ”Why didn’t you call us? The food is cold.”

Chen Huaian handed the bowl to Qin Yun and said, ”It’s not cold, it’s still warm.”

Chen Huaian knew that Qin Yun would not be able to finish her story in a short time, so he put the food in the pot to warm it up. He took it out shortly before Qin Yun stopped telling the story, so the food was still hot.

”You stupid girl, come back and cook! Do you want to starve your father and me to death?” A discordant voice echoed in Chen Huaian’s yard.

Bai Ling’er’s mother shouted loudly, her tone full of domineering, which made Qin Yun very uncomfortable, but she was powerless to change it. Her current identity was a refugee and she was not suitable to take care of these things.

”Sir, I...” Bai Ling’er looked a little embarrassed. Usually, she had a way out when there were only a few acquaintances, but today Qin Yun was there too, making her feel that her dignity was trampled on by her mother. ”Take some back, the three of us can’t finish it anyway.” Chen Huaian distracted Bai Ling’er from the matter, and he also believed that Qin Yun, as the emperor of a country, knew what to do.

”Yes, take some back. I eat little and Huai’an cooks a lot, so we can’t finish it.” Qin Yun said with a smile. This gave Bai Ling’er great favor, and she felt that her dignity was respected.

Just as Bai Ling’er was about to refuse, Chen Huaian had already placed a dish in her hands. Ah Tie also advised, ”Sister Ling’er, just accept it. The master has good intentions, and you don’t want to disappoint him.”

Chen Huaian was a little surprised when he heard what Ah Tie said, ”When did this kid become so good at talking?”

Chen Huaian said in his heart, he looked at Bai Ling’er, Bai Ling’er heard what A Tie said, she did not refuse anymore, and left with Chen Huaian’s dishes.

”What a good kid, what a pity...”

The meaning of Qin Yun’s words was very clear, but Chen Huaian just waved his hand and said, ”Everyone has their own choices. Some choices cannot be changed, but some changes can be chosen, isn’t it?”

Chen Huaian asked Qin Yun in return, and Qin Yun was shocked, ”Some changes allow you to choose...” She murmured this sentence in her heart, ”It seems that I... have no chance to choose.”

”Stop daydreaming and come over to eat.” Chen Huaian called Qin Yun to come over to eat, while A Tie on the side happily held up his chopsticks. He had no doubt about Chen Huaian’s cooking skills. He had never gotten tired of eating from him in more than two years.

The lunch time passed quickly and A Tie went back after finishing his meal. Before he left, Chen Huaian told him not to come for the next few days as he was feeling a little unwell and needed to rest.

Before leaving, A Tie asked Chen Huaian worriedly, because in his impression, Chen Huaian would hardly get sick. Even if he only wore a thin piece of clothing in winter, he would not catch a cold.

Therefore, Chen Huaian always gave A Tie the impression of being a powerful person who is immune to all diseases.

In response, Chen Huaian patiently explained: ”There are rats coming, I need to deal with them.”

A Tie didn’t understand why there was anything to deal with the rat, but Chen Huaian’s words were like an imperial decree to him. If Chen Huaian asked him not to come for a few days, he would not come for a few days. Although Chen Huaian didn’t say the time, A Tie had an idea in his mind, at least three days.

In the next few days, it snowed at night and occasionally during the day. It seemed that everything was fine, but it also seemed that something had happened.

Qin Yun was always out these days, and Chen Huaian sometimes pretended not to see her and let her leave. However, when she came back, there were always a few mice following her, which made him feel extremely uncomfortable.

Chen Huaian knew that it would not be long before those rats would reveal their bloodthirsty side and their fangs would eventually bite people.

”We’re running low on firewood. I don’t know if I should go get some.”

Chen Huaian looked at the few remaining firewoods and wondered in his mind whether he should go and get some. He felt that he might not be able to stay here for much longer.

Just as Chen Huaian was considering whether to get some dry firewood, Qin Yun slowly walked behind him, ”Huaian, there is something I have always wanted to ask you.”

”You say.” He looked at the dry firewood in front of him and had no intention of turning around.

Qin Yun didn’t care about this. She asked, ”How did you become blind? Didn’t you go for treatment?”

”I was born like this. I’ve seen doctors before, but they said it couldn’t be cured, so I gave up.”

Chen Huaian’s words were half true and half false. He didn’t know whether it was congenital or not. He only knew that he was blind when he came into this world.

”I said there is a place that can cure your eyes, do you believe it?”

Chen Huaian’s breathing became a little rapid after hearing this. He asked, ”Are you serious?”
