Starting as a Blind Beggar and Becoming a God

Chapter 9 3 ChildrenChapter 9 Three Children
”It’s really different in a place that is heavily guarded by the imperial army. The quality of life is pretty good, and there’s even beef for sale.”

The prerequisite for selling beef is that the place has a prosperous economy and good overall strength, otherwise selling beef will just be treated as a lamb to be slaughtered.

Now the hotel and pub were closed, and they had nowhere to go. Chen Huaian had specially saved money to rent a room. He touched the money in his arms and said softly, ”I should have eaten two more bowls just now.”

Lao Niu cast a contemptuous look at him at this time. Seeing this, Chen Huaian added, ”That bowl should not be given to Lao Niu.”

The old cow rolled his eyes, as if to say, ”I didn’t ask you to give it to me.”

……

Chen Huaian led the old cow to a temple. Now the temples are basically in a state of abandonment, as if they no longer believe in these things.

But fortunately, there is no one here, so there is no need to worry about the tragedy that happened in Hexing Town.

Chen Huaian saw that there was no one around and this place was far away from those households, so he took out his flute and started playing inside the temple...

[Name: Chen Huaian, Age: 18]

[Kung Fu: LV1 Phantom Sword Technique (56%)]

[Skill: No Return]

[Level: LV2 (23/100)]

[Current effects: increase lifespan, dredge meridians, dispel dampness and warm the body, and improve comprehension.]

[Disease: epileptic laughter disorder, which can be gradually treated by Bie Wugui. Current treatment progress: 7%]

After playing the flute, Chen Huaian looked at the ”Improved Comprehension” column with great interest. He was wondering whether he should learn something else. With the passive skill of improved comprehension, he would not worry about not being able to learn it.

Chen Huaian remembered what he was thinking about last time - brewing wine.

But then he shook his head slightly and said, ”I don’t know if I can make wine. If I can’t make wine, it will be a big loss.”

Chen Huaian was worried that the wine dealers here were backed by the people behind the Yuan Dynasty. After all, wine here could be used for offering sacrifices to the gods and was not to be desecrated. If he was brewing wine, he would have to pass the test, but how easy was that for a blind beggar?
”It’s better to go to bed early. If there is a chance, I will make wine again. Now I still have to rely on singing to support myself.”

Chen Huaian said that he planned to settle in Longchang County temporarily. If he didn’t get used to living there later, he would leave with Lao Niu. But Chen Huaian didn’t expect that he would stay in Longchang County for three years.

……

”Sir, what does it mean that human nature is good at birth?” A child about nine years old sat in front of Chen Huaian and asked, looking at Chen Huaian with ignorant eyes, with expectation flashing in his eyes.

”This sentence means that people are kind by nature when they are born.” Chen Huaian explained patiently. There were two children sitting in front of him, two boys and one girl. They were all his neighbors’ children. He helped take care of them when he had nothing to do.

His neighbors also felt very confident in handing the child over to Chen Huaian, but at the beginning, his neighbors treated him like a plague and didn’t want to have too much communication with Chen Huaian.

When Chen Huaian decided to live in the deserted temple for a short period of time, he went to sing the next day. He was responsible for playing the flute and Lao Niu was responsible for the harmony. Chen Huaian’s eyes widened that time. He didn’t expect Lao Niu to have such talent. Lao Niu raised his head proudly, and his arrogant expression seemed to say: ”I have learned a lot.”

The man and the cow made a lot of money on the first day. Chen Huaian immediately rented a house. He still liked to have a fixed residence.

The house that Chen Huaian rented at the beginning is the house he lives in today. When he first arrived, his neighbors welcomed him very much. Seeing that he was a blind man, they sent him vegetables and rice every now and then.

However, all this came to nothing as Chen Huaian fell ill.

That night, Chen Huaian laughed uncontrollably, which kept his neighbors awake and their children from getting sick. It was from that time that they began to boycott Chen Huaian.

Chen Huaian didn’t care about it. He couldn’t control the disease, and he couldn’t guarantee when it would break out. If he knew in advance, he would definitely find a quiet place to wait out the attack before it happened.

But he couldn’t, and because of this, he didn’t speak to his neighbors for nearly half a year, until one boy after another came in and changed everything.

Chen Huaian still clearly remembers that day when a little boy timidly ran up to him and asked, ”Big brother, why are you laughing for no apparent reason? It’s so loud that it’s keeping us awake.”

Chen Huaian responded with a smile: ”Because I have a disease, a disease that is very difficult to cure.”

The little boy scratched his head and said, ”But my parents said you are a lunatic and told us to stay away from you.”

Chen Huaian stroked the flute in his hand and said, ”That’s because your parents are worried about your safety. It’s for your own good that they don’t get close to me.”

The little boy asked in confusion, ”But I don’t think you are crazy, and you can play the flute, and sometimes you say some very nice things. Although I don’t understand what they mean, I think you are amazing.”

Chen Huaian felt a little embarrassed when being praised by the little boy.

Chen Huaian smiled and did not reply. He told the little boy some stories. This was also the beginning of Chen Huaian’s relationship with his neighbor, but it was just superficial...

This little boy is the one who asked Chen Huaian just now, ”Man is born good”, his name is A Tie. There is also a little boy named Huang Yuan, his father is a scholar, but he never passed the imperial examination.

The girl’s name was Bai Ling’er. She was the smartest and oldest of the three children, followed by Huang Yuan.

Bai Ling’er was able to understand the principles Chen Huaian talked about in just one go. If it were in modern times, she would definitely be a holy book reader.

At the beginning, she was the one who resisted Chen Huaian the most. Chen Huaian’s crazy laughter left a deep impression on her because she was the only one who had seen Chen Huaian laugh.

She couldn’t describe that crazy smile. She felt very sad and frightened. An indescribable mood filled her heart, so she was very resistant to Chen Huaian at the beginning, but as time went by, she slowly let go of the emotions in her heart.

”Sir, I remember you said before that you had a dream about a very special world. I want to know if there are people like us who can’t read in that world?”

The one who asked the question was Bai Ling’er. She had always longed to read, so she envied Huang Yuan very much. However, in this world, people still believed in the idea that men were superior to women, so it was difficult for Bai Ling’er to get access to books.

Huang Yuan’s father Huang Hua also taught her to read, but Huang Hua had the arrogance of a scholar in his heart, and Bai Ling’er was a woman, so he simply disdained to teach her, so Bai Ling’er did not learn anything from Huang Hua.

All this changed because of Chen Huaian’s arrival.
