Starting as a Blind Beggar and Becoming a God

Chapter 5 Warning from the SystemChapter 5 Warning from the System

”Xiaozhi, did you enjoy your meal today?” Jiang, who was lying on the bed, asked Xiaozhi weakly. She was pale, very thin, and the outline of her bones was clearly visible. It was hard to imagine that this was the appearance of a living person.

Xiao Zhi brought the medicine to Jiang’s mouth. The medicine soup was extremely hot, but Xiao Zhi seemed not to feel it. He held the bowl and walked towards Jiang who was lying on the bed.

”Mom, it’s time to take medicine.”

”Okay.” Jiang spoke very weakly, as if she would die in the next moment.

Jiang drank the medicine very slowly, and Xiao Zhi fed her slowly.

”Cough, cough, cough.” Jiang was choked. Xiao Zhi patted her mother’s back and asked anxiously, ”Mom, are you okay?”

”Ahem, I’m fine, I just choked.” Jiang spoke weakly, and it seemed as if all her strength was used up to say this. Before she finished drinking the medicine, Jiang lay on the bed.

Xiao Zhi knew that her mother could not finish the medicine. She took off the clothes that Chen Huaian had put on her and climbed onto the bed, ”Mom, let me warm your feet.”

”No, you will get sick.” Jiang tried her best to refuse, but she could not prevail against the stubborn Xiaozhi. She was weak and unable to pull back her feet. She could only let Xiaozhi put her feet on her chest. Jiang felt the warmth from the soles of his feet and could not help but shed tears.

Xiao Zhi heard Jiang’s sobs, and an indescribable heartache filled Xiao Zhi’s heart.

They had no lights, and Xiao Zhi touched Jiang’s face in the dark, wiping the tears from his face, ”Mom, please don’t cry. It hurts me when you cry.”

”Mother is not crying, I just think it’s too tiring for you to follow me.” Jiang felt that it was too difficult for Xiaozhi to follow her, and she believed that she was a burden to Xiaozhi.

When Xiao Zhi heard what Jiang said, she thought Jiang didn’t want her anymore. She said anxiously, ”Mom, I’m not tired at all. I just hope you can live a hundred years.”

Jiang didn’t say anything else. The more sensible Xiao Zhi became, the more upset she felt.

Xiao Zhi sat on the bed, feeling her mother’s cold feet. A tear ran down her cheek, but she held back her tears. She didn’t want Jiang to worry about her anymore.

Xiao Zhi was just a child after all, and she fell asleep soon. Only Jiang was still unable to fall asleep.

She opened her eyes weakly, and her cloudy eyes gradually became firm and powerful, as if she hated the injustice in the world, and seemed to have made a major decision...

……

Early in the morning, Chen Huaian pushed open the door. Although he wanted to get some game for Xiaozhi and the others, today was obviously not the right time because of the Li family and he couldn’t go out for the time being.

Chen Huaian was cleaning the yard when he suddenly caught a glimpse of a bird, a white mandarin duck, whose wings were severely injured and could no longer fly. ”How strange.” Chen Huaian was puzzled because this kind of bird should have migrated.

”It seems that it was because of its wings that it couldn’t keep up with the main group. Well, I will raise you.”

……

”Father, why don’t we just kill them?” At this moment, in a room, Li Si spoke gloomily. Li Wei glared at him, and Li Si was instantly frightened and dared not speak.

”What do you know? You’re a hero now, you have to maintain your image.”

”We can eliminate them quietly, so what is that blind man afraid of?” Li Si asked.

”There is no window that is impenetrable in this world. It is always reasonable to be cautious. Don’t do anything recently. I will find an opportunity. As for that blind man, he will die sooner or later.”

Li Wei said with a fierce look in his eyes that although he was here, his mind was no longer here. What he was thinking about now was how to get Xiao Zhi.

Li Si looked at his father’s eyes and wanted to say something, but in the end he couldn’t say it.

……

Chen Huaian stayed at home for five days, and the Li family did not take any action.

”Strange, are they really not going to do anything?”

Five more days passed and the Li family still did not take any action.

”Probably not.” Chen Huaian said in his heart.

He decided to go hunting today. It was just dawn. He had said before that he would go hunting to get some supplements for Jiang Shi. But because of the Li family, he had not fulfilled his promise.

But before that, he had to go to the Li family.

After Chen Huaian left, the white mandarin bird he raised’s eyes instantly turned red, and regardless of its injuries, it flew away with all its might.

Xiao Zhi went to find Chen Huaian after dinner today. This was Jiang’s instruction. Although she didn’t know why Jiang suddenly wanted to find Chen Huaian, Xiao Zhi was very happy to go to Chen Huaian, but she ended up empty-handed.

Xiao Zhi was a little depressed when she returned home. ”Mom, Brother Huai’an is not here. He might have gone out to play music.” ”Then let’s wait for him to come back.”

I don’t know if it’s due to the effect of the medicine or other reasons, but Jiang’s voice is not so weak today anymore, as if her condition has improved. Although she still can’t get out of bed and walk, Xiaozhi is very happy.

But suddenly, their door was kicked open, and several people walked into Xiaozhi’s house aggressively. The leader looked at Xiaozhi with ill intentions. Xiaozhi was stunned when she saw who it was. This person was the person who seemed very kind to her ten days ago - the head of the Li family, Li Wei...

At this moment, Chen Huaian has entered a snow-white forest.

In the winter, the forest has bare branches and covered with silver frost. The fallen leaves are piled on the ground, and it is quiet and bleak. The sky is as blue as a gem, but it is slightly cold, and the clouds are sparse, as if they were frozen in the sky.

Chen Huaian went to the Li family to investigate and found nothing unusual. The main purpose of his trip was to see if he could hunt a hare or a squirrel to add some meat to the Jiang family.

However, Chen Huaian had been walking in the forest for a long time and had not seen a single living creature. ”It looks like I will return empty-handed today.”

Just when he thought he had gained nothing today, the noise coming from afar made him smile.

”It seems that I am still blessed by God.”

As he spoke, he took a step and ran towards the place where the sound came from at a very fast speed. After Chen Huaian ran in, he threw the crutch in his hand with force. A blush appeared on the pale ground. The crutch ran a few times with Chen Huaian’s crutch, and then there was no movement.

After Chen Huaian walked in, he picked up his crutches, looked at the lifeless hare on the ground, picked up the hare and said, ”An extra meal tonight.”

Chen Huaian was walking on the way home with a happy mood, but before he got close, he smelled a bloody smell in the air. He felt something was wrong and ran quickly. When he arrived at Xiaozhi’s house, he could not believe the scene before him.

Xiao Zhi was lying on the ground in dishevel, lifeless, while Jiang was dying on the bed, also in dishevel.

When Chen Huaian saw this scene, he felt a ball of anger burning in his chest.

He walked up to Jiang, who was still alive, and took off his clothes to cover her. Jiang had tears in her eyes. Chen Huaian suppressed his anger and asked, ”Who did it?”

Chen Huaian didn’t expect that Xiao Zhi, who was jumping in front of him yesterday, would become a cold corpse today.

”Cough cough.” Before Jiang could answer Chen Huaian’s question, she coughed twice and coughed up blood.

”Don’t be in a hurry, take your time.” Chen Huaian’s tone was calm, but only he knew that beneath this calm tone was a heart full of anger.

”It’s the Li family, the father and son of the Li family. They are not human beings, not human beings!”

Jiang sobbed and recounted everything that had happened before. Perhaps because of hatred, she spoke very fluently and forcefully.

”Li Wei kicked open the door of my house and dragged Xiao Zhi out without saying a word. Xiao Zhi refused, so Li Wei slapped her in the face. The slap was so loud that it hurt my heart so much!” Jiang’s tears fell like rain, and she was extremely sad and angry.

She went on to say, ”When the beast saw that Xiao Zhi refused to go with him, he tore off Xiao Zhi’s clothes. I was yelling on the bed, saying no, but he actually ordered his men to come over and take me, take me...”

Jiang didn’t finish her words, but Chen Huaian also knew what had happened.

He didn’t say anything. He could feel that Jiang was hanging on by a thread, and it was a miracle that he could hold on until now.

”I cried and begged them to let Xiao Zhi go, but my pleas did not change the conscience of these beasts. Instead, they became even more brutal. In order to protect me, Xiao Zhi bit Li Wei’s hand. Li Wei was so angry that he beat Xiao Zhi to death. Even so, they did not let go of her body.”

”I also……”

Jiang didn’t say anything else, but Chen Huaian understood, and he cursed them as a bunch of beasts in his heart.

Jiang looked at Chen Huaian and asked weakly, ”Can you bury our bodies after we die? I just want to have a home with her in the afterlife.”

”I originally wanted Xiaozhi to live with you, to let her follow you, so that she would feel at ease after I died. I can feel that you are a good person, and I feel relieved that Xiaozhi follows you, but now everything is gone, all gone...”

”Okay, I will bury you.” Chen Huaian said, his voice cold, as if there was no emotional fluctuation.

After Chen Huaian said this, Jiang also passed away with a faint smile, because someone buried them and they were no longer wandering souls.

But Chen Huaian hadn’t finished speaking yet. He looked at the bodies of Xiao Zhi and Jiang and spoke coldly, his voice seeming to come from outside the underworld, ”And there are people buried with you...”

At this moment, a mechanical and cold voice quickly sounded in Chen Huaian’s mind, ”Warning, warning! The host’s emotions fluctuate too much, and the healing value is decreasing, [5%, 4%, 3%, dangerous, 2%, extremely dangerous!]”

”Hahaha, hahaha...”

Chen Huaian’s epileptic fit... broke out. He laughed wildly in the room, and his body was shaking from the laughter.

”I really don’t fit in with this world.”
