Star Lord: Rob the alien race and you will get a hundred times the reward

Chapter 22: Compensation in place, the bugs are goneChapter 22: Compensation in place, the bugs are gone

”Boss, the defense line is in danger. The garrison fleet has suffered more than 50 percent casualties.” Wa Zai yelled at Liu Wen anxiously.

”Hold steady, the fleet slowly retreats, and don’t stop the fire output.” Liu Wen has no choice now. In the emergency conscription mode, even if the battle is over, he has to support until the reinforcements arrive. Otherwise, he will be labeled as a deserter, and how can he and his brothers survive in the Blue River Empire?

Bai Haitang controlled the firepower to output crazily. The surface of the battleship had been repaired several times by the maintenance robots. This was because the battleship-class battleship had a thick outer armor. The frigate-class battleships were exploded one after another by the insects that broke into them. The number of them was almost the same as that of the destroyer-class battleships.

The two large transport ships were quite stable, with only a few close-range firepower to resist meteorites and occasionally to resist the long-range particle cannon attacks of the insects. The sudden attacking insects were not interested in them, and they had not even broken their energy shields.

The two cruiser-class battleships were already badly damaged, with their outer armor full of holes as if they had been stabbed by a dog. Fortunately, their firepower was not greatly affected. Only the energy-focusing crystals of the two medium-range secondary guns were corroded by the insect’s acid and could no longer be used. They had to be replaced.

The warships at the jump point fought and retreated at the same time. Faced with the still overwhelming number of insects, the original defensive turrets had been completely destroyed. The supporting firepower of the space station was actually strengthened as the defense line moved backwards.

As soon as the unmanned fighter jets arrived at the battlefield, they were cut into several pieces by hunting mantises that appeared from nowhere, and they had no effect at all.

”If there were a few motherships with hundreds of thousands of aircraft, the battle wouldn’t have turned out like this.” Bai Haitang muttered to himself.

”The military is a bunch of idiots who only want to do the most with the least amount of money!”

Liu Wen glanced at the other party and ignored her mumbling. Instead, he focused on mobilizing the warships for defense. More and more bugs were rushing in, and the fleet had no land combat forces prepared. Once the bugs rushed into the warships, they would be doomed.

”Warp wave, boss, there is a warp wave!” Frog cheered happily.

In the safe space within the jump point, space ripples spread out, and hundreds of warships appeared in the energy tide. As soon as they appeared, they immediately turned around and rushed towards the defense line, starting to release fighter jets from a long distance.

Teams of fighter planes formed into formations and rushed towards the Zerg first. Extremely fast weapons such as particle beam electromagnetic cannons formed a barrage of bullets, which wiped out the large number of Zerg that rushed in through the firepower network.

Every member of the requisitioned spaceship breathed a sigh of relief, knowing that their spaceship was saved.

Originally, you were urgently called up, and all expenses would be paid by the military. You would be compensated double the amount you spent, and damaged warships would be compensated with warships of the same level. In addition, you would receive a hard work fee.

But since the Blue River Empire had gradually fallen into decay, it was already very good to be able to make up for the losses now, and there was no need to think about additional income.

As batches of support fleets arrived, dozens of battleships were lined up, and fierce gamma-ray bursts swept across a large area of the starry sky.

Void bugs are still living things after all. Without sufficient energy essence, when they encounter a gamma-ray burst, their only way out is to have their biomass destroyed.

Many teams felt upset when they saw the Void Zerg, whom they had resisted for such a long time, being cleared out in large areas of the starry sky by the Blue River military as easily as a garbage truck clearing away garbage. They were happy that humans still had powerful military force in the face of these alien races, but they were sad that these super-standard weapons were for military use only and no private individual was allowed to possess them without a license.

”Okay, we survived.” Liu Wen stopped controlling the fleet after the military fleet took over the defense line. After fighting for half an hour, his brain felt as if it was overloaded.

After Bai Haitang stopped firing, he looked much weaker. He controlled the firepower of the entire fleet by himself, and the mental energy of the second-level psychic was completely drained!
The blue fat man lay with Jack without any image, gasping for breath: ”Boss, we suffered a huge loss this time. Not a single one of the 22 frigate-class battleships was left, three destroyer-class battleships were blown up, and the other two may fall apart at any time.”

”The outer armor of the cruiser-class battleship is half destroyed. It is impossible not to overhaul it.”

”The battleship also needs to have some of its armor replaced, and the energy crystals and gun barrels of several turrets also need to be replaced. The loss is probably hundreds of millions of contribution points!”

Liu Wen rolled his eyes helplessly. Even if the twenty-two level five frigates, five level six destroyers, and two level six cruisers were added in, excluding some that only needed repairs, the total would not be as valuable as the battleship under his butt.

”Boss, the military has sent a communication asking us to sign a damage report.” Frog was in the best condition among the group, so even after the battle was over, he still stayed in front of the radar, recording the combat data of the military fleet.

”Are you preparing to reimburse the expenses?” Liu Wen was too lazy to think about it. He simply added up what the blue fat man had just said, and then estimated an amount of 100 million contribution points and reported it.

In the logistics department of the 315th Legion, several staff members were counting the damage reports against the battlefield records. After seeing the damage list submitted by the Star Fleet, they compared it with the battlefield records to confirm that there were no errors in the fleet’s size. The specific damage situation could not be seen, but after looking at the damage lists of other teams, they found that two level-four frigate-class battleships dared to report million contribution points. The Star Fleet was simply a breath of fresh air.

After the staff passed the initial review, the jump point garrison fleet sent someone to contact Liu Wen to verify the specific situation.

”Hello Mr. Liu, on behalf of the 315 Star Field 109 Channel Node Garrison Fleet, I would like to thank you for your assistance. Your damage report has been preliminarily confirmed. Now we need to verify the specific damage status of your fleet so that compensation for the damage can be issued as soon as possible. Please cooperate with your fleet.” The inspector looked at the Xinghai’s armor, which became more and more hideous after the damage, and said to Liu Wen very politely.

”Check it out, the sooner the better. We’re rushing to send the battleship to the 314 star field for repairs, and we don’t know if we can still get there.” Liu Wen waved his hand casually and turned off the energy shield and force field shield so that the opponent’s detection radar could detect it more clearly.

”Thank you Mr. Liu for your cooperation. The damage inspection of the Star Fleet has passed. The relevant compensation will be sent to your account within three hours. Thank you for your cooperation.” After recording the radar detection situation and confirming that it was true, the inspector turned around and drove the shuttle towards another spaceship.

”Fat Blue, dispatch the maintenance robots to repair the damaged warships, so that they won’t fall apart halfway.” Liu Wen could only leave this matter to him, as no one else here had the skill of maintenance.

In the void, the battle was still going on. Thousands of warships of the military surrounded the void cracks. Layer after layer of barrier force fields blocked the cracks. The warships fired crazily into the void, and no matter how many insects came out, they were burned to ashes by the high temperature energy.

”By the way, bugs are also an alien race, right? Why is there no reward after killing so many of them?” Liu Wen suddenly remembered one thing, that is, it has been a while since he finished fighting, but he has not heard any rewards from the golden finger.

He checked it out and made sure there was no movement. Then he thought for a moment and realized that he had to grab something to get the reward with his golden finger, but what could a group of bugs grab?
Does the lack of rewards mean that killing bugs is a meaningless act of wasting time, money and life?

”No, it seems that bugs also have valuable things.”

Liu Wen quickly asked Bai Haitang, who had three years of experience in hunting bugs: ”Haitang, are there any valuables among these bugs? We have been fighting for a long time, dozens of warships have been damaged, and we haven’t got any spoils!”

”Ah!” Bai Haitang was trying to recover her mental energy in a daze when she suddenly heard Liu Wen calling her. It took her a while to realize that he was asking her about the value of insects.

”Oh, boss, you mean bugs? Bugs without psychic reactions are worthless. You should just collect the ones with high psychic reactions.”

”Frog, you are the only one who is still alert. You control the transport ship to salvage all the insects with psychic reactions on the battlefield.” After looking around, it seems that the task can only be handed over to Frog, as the others look listless.

”Boss, hire some people quickly. If something like this happens two more times, I think I’ll be exhausted. Five people are doing the work of hundreds of people. If the staff is fully staffed, the casualty rate of our fleet this time will not exceed one tenth.” Bai Haitang had recovered a little now, his brain started to work, and he immediately complained to Liu Wen.

Liu Wen nodded. He also wanted to recruit people, but the job fair hasn’t started yet. Besides, even if he recruited someone, he would have to spend several months practicing their cooperation.

If we just put together a random team and send them to the battlefield, their coordination might not be as good as those of them. After all, they are all psychics, and with abundant mental energy, their performance can be several times better than that of ordinary people.

Frog agreed enthusiastically, connected the intelligence centers of the two transport ships, issued an order to collect psychic materials, and circled the target in the void corresponding to their combat position. The two transport ships released a binding force field, covering a large area of the starry sky, and the traction light moved the gathered insect fragments into the warehouse.

”What are those two transport ships doing?” Someone looked at the transport ships that were trading insect fragments all over the starry sky in confusion.

”It looks like they are salvaging insect fragments. This thing is so rotten, is it still useful?” Many surrounding teams noticed this scene.

”Hurry, let’s go collect them too. Be careful to only collect the insect fragments that contain psychic energy, and don’t collect the other garbage.” Those with smart brains quickly followed. Although they didn’t know if it would be useful, since someone was doing it, it must be able to sell for money.

”Hey, why are these people also starting to salvage?” Frog looked at the team that was competing with him for business, and immediately sped up the salvaging process.

Cleaning up the battlefield was originally the job of the garrison fleet, but now the fleet has suffered serious damage and is busy providing logistics to the combat fleet. It has no time to take care of the insect wreckage of Maokong for the time being. It doesn’t care when it sees someone salvaging it on their own. It is difficult to find useful fragments of the insects shattered by ship guns. It is possible to extract psychic energy from the fragments as psychic materials, but the number of psychic insects is very limited after all.

An hour later, 90 million contribution points arrived. Liu Wen checked the records and found that the compensation was 100 million contribution points, but the military had a so-called service fee and took 10%, so there were only 90 million left.

”Service fee? What the hell requires 10 million contribution points for service fee?” Liu Wen was so angry that he was about to burst into flames, but when he looked at the thousands of warships on the battlefield, he thought, forget it, service fee is service fee, he has already made money anyway.

Liu Wen made a simple calculation. The white version of a level 5 frigate battleship is only about 300,000 to 400,000 each, and 22 ships are 8.8 million contribution points. Five level 6 destroyer battleships are 22.5 million contribution points in total. The cruiser battleship only needs to replace the armor and some weapons and equipment, which is about 3 million. The armor of the battleship is much more expensive, but the amount that needs to be replaced is not much, estimated to be around 2 million contribution points.

All in all, the loss was about 36.3 million contribution points, the reported loss was 100 million, the actual payout was 90 million, and a profit of more than 50 million was made.

The profit came from the damage assessment of battleships and cruisers. The damage looked serious on the outside, with the armor of the battleships full of holes and some parts were pierced through, revealing their internal structures.

But in fact it is not serious. Once the outer armor is replaced and treated slightly, it will be restored to its original state.

”Fat Blue, how is the maintenance of the destroyers and cruisers going?” Liu Wen asked.

”It’s almost done. The cruiser-class battleship won’t hinder our journey, but the destroyer-class is a little worse. The internal structure is a bit unstable. It will take some time to reinforce it. It will really need a major overhaul before it can be used again.” The blue fat man replied listlessly.

”Okay, hurry up and repair it. When it’s almost done, we’ll continue on our way. I’ll order the warships first, and we’ll take them over when we get there.”

Liu Wen planned to configure the fleet according to the normal organization. After all, he had some extra money on his hands now, which he had earned for free, so he had to spend it quickly to be safe.

The normal team fleet composition includes one battleship, five heavy cruisers, twelve light cruisers, thirty destroyers, one hundred and twenty frigates, one medium-sized engineering and maintenance ship, two multi-purpose supply ships, one light mothership, five small reconnaissance ships, and two medium-sized transport ships.

Liu Wen currently does not have enough money, so he cannot equip himself with mother ships, engineering and maintenance ships, or the like. It is also impossible to equip himself with heavy cruisers. He can only equip himself with conventional general-purpose cruisers.

After searching for a long time on the Interstellar Alliance exchange page, I finally found several warships with good value for money. After calculating the total price, I placed the order decisively.

Five level VI cruiser-class battleships, with a total price of 64 million contribution points, ten level VI destroyer-class battleships, with a total price of 24 million contribution points, and ten level VI frigate-class battleships, with a total price of 7 million contribution points, totaling 95 million contribution points.

”Brother Wen, it’s okay. There’s no problem getting to the 314 Star Domain Interstellar Alliance City.” Just as Liu Wen had just ordered the battleship, the news that Fatty Blue had repaired the battleship came out.

”Frog, stop fishing, go back to the fleet, we’re leaving.”

”Okay, Boss.” Frog said happily, ”Boss, I salvaged quite a few relatively intact insect remains, including quite a few with psychic limbs above level four!”

”Well done, Frog. Let’s see how much we can sell it for when we get back.” Liu Wen smiled and didn’t care. It was just an experiment, so it didn’t matter whether he got it or not. He had already got the big prize.

Who knew that as soon as the transport ship returned to the fleet, Liu Wen received the message from the golden finger.

”Robbery Target: Void Zerg
Number of robberies: One
The harvest from the robbery: 35,195 units of psychic materials and one mother insect egg. ”

”Reward has been issued: coordinates...”

”Huh? What the hell are mother insect eggs?” Liu Wen had several big question marks over his head. How did Frog salvage them? How did he salvage this deadly thing?

Will there be a real-life alien?
”Wazi, did you find anything special when you were salvaging, such as something like an egg?” Liu Wen asked tentatively.

Frog opened his big watery eyes and looked at Liu Wen in surprise: ”Boss, how did you know there was an egg? I saw several bugs holding it, and I thought it must be a good thing. I also thought of taking you to see it in City 314.”

”Wow, there really are mother insect eggs!” Liu Wen’s eyebrows jumped.

He connected to the Internet and quickly looked for the Void Zerg Queen Eggs on the Interstellar Alliance exchange list. After searching, the information that came out made his heart beat faster again.

”Void Zerg Queen Egg (alive), exchange price 20 million contribution points.”

What is the value of eggs worth 20 million contribution points? Artificially breeding Zerg?
”Bai Haitang, do you know what the Void Zerg queen eggs can be used for?” Liu Wen couldn’t find relevant information and could only ask the person who knew the most about the bugs here.

”Void Zerg Queen Egg?” Bai Haitang was stunned. ”I heard that psychic saint-level masters and some biological civilizations can transform them into clones or weapons. Mastering a Queen is equivalent to mastering a Void Zerg. It is said that a well-cultivated Queen can also be advanced to a Queen Mother, but I have never heard of a successful case. After all, this thing is difficult to capture. It will only appear when the Queen Mother dies or expands its population.”

”Is that so?” Liu Wen was immediately tempted when he heard that he could cultivate an avatar or biological weapon to control a Void Zerg soldier, but then he extinguished the impulse.

We have no technology and no strength, but resources are easy to deal with. We can just apply for a development order and lead the Zerg to fight against alien civilizations. For the Zerg, it is right to attack anyone.

”Let’s sell it. It’s too much of a loss to exchange it directly. The exchange price of 20 million contribution points is very high. Scarcity makes things valuable. Auction is the most appropriate.”

Liu Wen turned to Wa Zai and said, ”Wa Zai, store the egg separately and use freezing to isolate it from external energy. Don’t let it hatch on its own, otherwise it won’t be able to be sold at a high price.”

Unhatched eggs and hatched mother insects are treated differently. The living mother insects have no value except being killed for research.

”Okay, boss.” After hearing what Liu Wen said, Frog guessed what this thing was. Thinking of the horror of the Void Zerg, he quickly added a freezing device to ensure that it would remain in a dormant state and would not hatch.

”Okay, let’s go.” Liu Wen ordered the intelligent center to take the lead, targeting the 314 Interstellar Alliance City.
