Summoners War: Only I Summoned Divine Beasts

Chapter 1056: Database

“Now!”

Nathan’s body tensed up. He could see the information move from the contract back to Evelyn’s body.

The curse seemed to be able to sense it as well and tried to detach itself from the contract and go back to Evelyn’s body.

Anubis and Qilin activated their power at the same time, creating a barrier to stop the curse.

The curse was corroding the barrier, so Nathan had to erase Evelyn’s information before the curse returned.

Nathan took a deep breath. With Evelyn’s status in front of him, Nathan stretched his hand and pressed it with his thumb.

Nathan wanted to swipe the word ‘Lavender’ from her name. As one would expect, it was actually not possible.

“Your blood!” Qilin shouted.

Nathan nodded, bit his thumb, and smeared the blood on the ‘L’ first.

“Argh!” Nathan screamed in pain. The moment the ‘L’ was covered by his blood, an excruciating pain spread from his thumb to all around his body. It was as if he were being punished by the world.

Nathan finally understood what the world meant. The world itself was a database. All kinds of information had been stored inside the database.

When Nathan evolved a familiar, he didn’t experience the pain because the database already had the information of the next step.

He could manipulate it to a certain extent, but he couldn’t erase or add anything in the database. This pain was similar to the security system in his mind.

It was no wonder Alien told Bella that Nathan was someone who wasn’t bound by fate. He was someone who had the ability to change what was inside the database through means not recognized by the world.

When he thought about it, the people got their names when they were born into this world. The act of naming wasn’t as big of a deal for everyone else, but it was a big deal for this world.

Naming someone was the same as conferring a name with the authority the world gave them. How about changing their name? From how it worked, their names would be the same. Even when they changed names due to being married to another family or for a different reason, the name registered in this world might remain the same.

But Nathan could change it.

“Erase it for me!” Nathan gritted his teeth, enduring all this pain. The first thing he did in this world was recognize the need to endure pain. That was why he was prepared for any kind of pain. This was the time to use that training.

Every single character was more painful than the other, to the point where he was scratching his head.

“Argh!” Nathan screamed. Anubis couldn’t help him because he was using everything he had to block the curse even for one second longer.

Each character only required one second, but it felt like he had been tortured with this pain for eight minutes.

“Kh.” Nathan wanted to vomit blood, but he held out.

Name: Evelyn

Level: 899

Race: Human

Quality: Perfect (High)

The moment his blood covered her family name, the world recognized the name change.

As a result, the curse dropped to the ground as though it couldn’t recognize Evelyn anymore.

“!!!” Anubis and Qilin looked at the curse for a moment before exchanging looks. The curse then turned back to the contract and destroyed it before perishing itself, as the curse had fulfilled its goal.

“It’s done…” Qilin squinted his eyes.

Anubis didn’t retract his barrier yet, wanting to make sure there was no trace of the curse anymore.

“Ha… Ha… Ha…” Nathan panted heavily as the pain numbed his entire body. “I still have two more jobs to do.”

Once the world recognized her change of name, the blood evaporated, leaving a clean slate behind.

Hence, Nathan bit his forefinger this time. It was time to change her name. “It’s time to add the name.”

“Kh!” Nathan struggled as much as before, not because of the pain, but because of a different sensation.

Adding a name meant adding the meaning behind it. For him, that name was a past he wanted to forget, the past that defined him, and the past that shaped his future.

To protect his family, to protect everything dear to him, to not make the same mistake as his parents. This word would be etched in Evelyn’s name. He might have to do this again in the future for himself. In fact, he probably had to check the Dragon King’s status to see whether his name remained one word or two words.

If it were one word, it meant his hypothesis was correct. The Dragon King was a commoner before. Even though he picked up ‘Silvaresta’ as his family name and conferred it to Alavenya, he didn’t know whether he himself had that name or not.

While the process didn’t include pain, it felt like his brain was being fried from the inside. All that memory was sucked out and sealed into that name. This was probably what was going to happen to him if he gave her a new skill.

“Ha… Ha…” Nathan clenched his hand into a fist. His face became pale.

The process of conferring a name took more time than erasing it. But after 20 seconds, he finally finished.

Name: Evelyn Reckmoon

Level: 899

Race: Human

Quality: Perfect (High)

Nathan couldn’t help but smile. Still, there was one more thing left. It was her skill.

Because she had become familiar, Evelyn should have had several skills, but it looked like Evelyn’s case was similar to his. There wasn’t a single thing on her skill panel.

If he etched this new skill into her, this was the same as creating an innate ability. He wondered whether it was possible or not, even with his innate ability.

Nathan took another deep breath, preparing himself for the worst. He finally pressed the slate. In this instance, his heart felt like it was about to explode.

“!!!” Nathan widened his eyes in shock. “I can’t move my finger!”
