Summoners War: Only I Summoned Divine Beasts

Chapter 717: Poison vs Poison

”I have left my trump card there.”

The Pope remained calm, as though he had expected it. The Pope simply said, ”Trump card, huh?

”It seems you havenʼt realized it yet.” The Pope looked disappointed.

”Huh?” Rea frowned.

”Why do you think I chose them to handle you? They can handle unexpected situations more than anyone else in this world. Thatʼs why I sent them there. No matter what your trump card is, it will be useless. I trust them.”

Rea felt chills down his spine. It didnʼt seem the Pope was bluffing. Besides, from everything he had shown so far, Rea knew the Pope was much smarter than he imagined.

There was no way he couldnʼt think of the possibility of his trump card. Yet, despite predicting what kind of trump card he had, the Pope still had the confidence to win.

It was as if he truly believed that Sera and the others were able to overcome the challenge.

And what would happen if he managed to win? It would be disastrous for him.

He gritted his teeth, still believing he wouldnʼt lose to the Pope. He shouted, ”Do you know what will happen if you execute me? The Holy Kingdom will be thrown into chaos. Besides, I have used a bit of my money for charity to improve my image. Without my money, there will be hundreds of thousands of people who will suffer because the Holy Kingdom will become poor without me.”

”Poor, huh? Thatʼs probably going to happen if weʼre not in this situation. The world is currently experiencing Godʼs trial. However, all trials will turn into an unimaginable blessing that will lead to prosperity.

”The Holy Kingdom is poor? Thatʼs true if the world is normal. However, donʼt we have a gold mine out there? One that will probably not run out for hundreds, if not thousands, of years?” The Pope smiled.

”!!!” That was right. There was one thing he failed to consider. The moment the world was plunged into chaos by the ash cloud, the world had changed.

With the increase of aliens coming toward them, there would be more opportunity for them to make money. After all, they could simply sell many more cores. And that harvest was no less than ten times the original harvest, which was more than enough for the national budget.

If this was any other kingdom, they couldnʼt do it. However, they were in the Holy Kingdom. The Holy Kingdom was the vanguard against the aliens.

The Pope had finally found the right time. Without him, he could still make enough money from the aliens.

However, this strategy would definitely cost a lot of lives… or so it would have in the normal world. But Nathan had managed to create the magic weapon, which would reduce the casualty.

”You… You…” Rea couldnʼt believe that he had been outplayed completely by the Pope.

”For normal people… Me as well, as a normal human, I have nothing but praise for Nathanʼs achievement. But as a believer of God, God doesnʼt give you a challenge that you canʼt overcome. Nathanʼs achievement is also his way of showing the path for me to fix the Holy Kingdom, which is not contradictory.

”And to make my plan succeed for a more prosperous Holy Kingdom, you have to be removed. This will be my farewell, Bishop Rea. The ones who will accompany you to the execution ground wonʼt be me.”

Rea was trembling. He gritted his teeth before recklessly summoning his familiar. ”Mammon!”

A big demon suddenly emerged out of thin air, albeit several golden chains appeared right after and held him.

A six-winged angel manifested as the dark room brightened. The man had long golden hair and a mask that covered his eyes. In his right hand was a golden sword.

Next to him were two four-winged angels holding the chains.

”!!!” Mammon glanced back with sweat covering his body. ”Michael…”

At the same time, the Pope had already reappeared in front of Rea as he grasped him by the neck, lifting up that overweight body a few centimeters in the air.

”This is the end. Holy Decree, Evil, Disappear!”

A golden light emerged from the Popeʼs body as numerous magic circles surrounded Rea. Rea gritted his teeth as he felt his strength gradually disappear. ”You… Mammon!”

He called for his demon, but it was useless.

”Regret.” Mammon glared at the masked archangel with his body split in two before disappearing.

”How dare you do this? If I manage to win today, I will definitely pay this humiliation back by tenfold. You canʼt kill me, right? If you could kill me, you would have visited me a long time ago and killed me without showing any proof.

”This is why you, who have been following the path of light, are so slow. You are bound by the rules and not flexible at all.”

The Pope smiled. ”That is indeed true. However, this will be the end for you.”

”No. This is not the end for me. If you think Serafina can do anything to the orphanage, youʼre wrong. I have sent a man who is loved by a sin. You wonʼt be able to defeat him!”

The Pope simply let him go and turned around as if he didnʼt care about it. ”You can go now. A demon among one of the seven deadly sins, huh?”

The Pope was actually smiling slyly.

While it was true that Rea was good enough to dig up information about Serafina. There was one thing he wouldnʼt be able to find. It was Asmodeus.

Even though she was a corrupted saintess, having one of the deadly sins serving her would definitely harm her reputation. That was why he had been hiding this fact, even if he had to bury it under the earth.

And it was precisely at this moment.

This battle wouldnʼt be a fight between the light and dark. It was a battle between two of the same sides.

The Pope muttered inwardly, ʼSometimes, you have to deal poison with another poison.ʼ
