Summoners War: Only I Summoned Divine Beasts

Chapter 703: Names

Nathan squinted his eyes. This attack would have been effective if his opponent werenʼt him.

But Nathan being Nathan, he had hidden another trick within the orbital defense.

The sword wave reached past the first orbit with two bullets hitting it, showing no sign of destruction. Alan definitely thought he would be able to reach Nathan this way.

Unexpectedly, there was a sudden explosion hitting his sword wave from the side and breaking it apart.

”!!!” Alan felt chills down his body.

That was right. Nathan had explosive bullets on top of those strong bullets and the normal ones.

Those 32 spheres were similar to the Machine Gun System, but they didnʼt have as much power, which allowed Nathan to create these many spheres.

Thanks to Alanʼs technique, he could finally perfect the Orbital Defense System. Each sphere had their flow of ena, which meant there were some spheres that could produce explosive bullets, some that produced normal bullets, and a few that could release the strong bullets with two Concentration in it.

Infusing the Machine Gun System into the ability, these 32 spheres were basically 32 guns that his opponents had a hard time recognizing due to them constantly moving.

Nathan waved his right hand.

Four bullets were shot at the same time. The two that came from the front flew directly head-on, while the other two from the sides surrounded him.

”!!!” Alan gritted his teeth. Even though he could see the difference between the flows of all these bullets, he had a hard time processing it. In addition, Nathan could send a different combination even when he shot them from the same position.

Hence, instead of engaging Nathan, Alan actually leaped away.

The two bullets that came from the front actually exploded, engulfing the two normal bullets from the side.

Nathan continued with eight bullets this time.

Alan became thoroughly confused by Nathanʼs fighting style. It was simply too bizarre and free.

He had no choice but to hide himself inside a building.

This was what Nathan was missing this whole time.

He indeed had the advantage of being a transmigrator. Being able to know a lot of things beforehand might be a good thing, but he didnʼt realize one important flaw of being a transmigrator.

It was the fact that his action had been influenced by the way people acted in those books.

He chose to create one thing after another. He mastered them, but he didnʼt attempt to perfect them.

This whole time, he had been relying on Selena or Evelyn to perfect his ability instead of perfecting that ability to match his fighting style.

As a result, the ability could become more powerful, but he might not be able to utilize it to the fullest. This was different from Alan, who had perfected his fighting style. That unique style almost claimed his life.

He basically thought he could come up with a few more ideas and have them perfect it to become stronger.

He didnʼt realize this path would result in him being unable to reach the top. He relied too much on others that when others perfected and mastered their path, he could only master his path, not perfect it.

Once he got rid of his arrogance, he finally saw another path that definitely allowed him to reach the top.

He would be the one perfecting his technique from now on. He could ask or consult, but he would do it according to his own path.

He had to thank Alan for allowing him to realize this fact before it was too late. And he used his technique to actually perfect the Orbital Defense System and a new technique.

And it brought one more important message that Fenrir once gave him.

…

A few months ago.

”By the way, have you thought about naming your techniques?”

”Huh? Naming my techniques? I just create bullets and fight. Whatʼs wrong with that? Everything is programmed differently, so I donʼt really need names.”

”No. Iʼm not talking about that.” Fenrir shook his head. ”If itʼs like that, I donʼt really need any names for my abilities. After all, everything is related to strengthening my physique.

”However, as a divine beast, I can tell you this. You probably have to name them.”

”Ehm… Will it make me like those people in the stories? I mean, theyʼre shouting their attack name before using it. Itʼs cringe and… how do you say it? Ineffective?”

Fenrir shook his head. ”No. You donʼt even have to say it out loud. Just give them a name.

”For example, your bullets. Just by giving them a name, you will program the activation sequence, which is what Iʼm implying here, not the trajectory itself. After all, the activation sequence is the same, right?”

”Thatʼs true.”

”By registering this name in your head, just maybe muttering or thinking about that name, your brain will immediately release your technique according to what you have programmed it to do. If you get used to it, it can probably increase your activation speed? Not very sure about it because I rely on my physical strength instead of those abilities.

”Still, once you perfect your own style, itʼs better to give them a name. Just like how people name their martial arts and write it down in a book… you should do the same. Itʼs hard to explain, but you will notice it once you do it.”

”Perfect my techniques, huh?” Nathan didnʼt understand it at that time.

But after getting the Orbital Defense System and Machine Gun Version, he finally understood Fenrirʼs words.

That was why Nathan had thought of a name for his ability. It was called the Gun Control System, which was the foundation of his fighting style. He gave his three variations of bullets a name.

And last but not least, he gave an individual unique name for each special ability, which simplified the computation process his mind had to do whenever he wanted to use the ability. This was one of the reasons he could use the Machine Gun version that fast.

After perfecting his Gun Control System, it was time for this technique to claim its first victim.
