I Get A Random New Occupation Every Week

Chapter 791 - 791 Taking the Initiative

791 Taking the Initiative

Wang Cuiping had decided on Ji Qingyan from the bottom of her heart.

However, his son had already brought someone new back. If she did not give her a red packet, it would be a slap to her son’s face.

For a moment, she did not know what to do.

After dinner, Lin Yi stayed in the orphanage for a while before leaving with Zhang Xiaoyu.

!!
When he left, he even drove the orphanage’s van away.

“Brother Lin, I want to tell you something,” Zhang Xiaoyu said.

“What is it?”

“Didn’t you go to the toilet when we were about to leave after dinner?”

“And?”

“Then Auntie gave me a red packet with 500 yuan in it.”

“Huh? You took it?”

“I did. I didn’t want it at first, but Auntie was too enthusiastic and I couldn’t reject her.”

“Um…”

Lin Yi paused for a moment. Why did she have to pay when she saw a woman?

This was too outrageous!

“Congratulations on getting the treatment fitting of a daughter-in-law.”

“Haha, really? Then I guess the meaning of this 500 yuan is different.” Zhang Xiaoyu laughed and said.

“Then I have to buy something to return Auntie’s gift.”

“Come on, wake up. This isn’t your job.”

“Aiya, let me be happy for a few minutes,” Zhang Xiaoyu said happily.

Of course, at night, the two of them found a hotel. After resting for a night, they set off for Jinfeng County the next day.

Jinfeng County was more than 40 kilometers away from the city center.

Including the time they spent in the traffic jam in the city, it took them an hour and a half to get there.

Following Zhao Yali’s directions, Lin Yi drove down to the village.

However, by this season, the yellow peaches on the trees had long been plucked. Therefore, they did not enjoy the beautiful scenery of peach blossoms along the way.

They then drove to Shuanghong Town, which was a a town in Jinfeng County. This was the place where yellow peaches were most commonly grown.

Arriving at Shuanghong Town, Lin Yi realized that this place was a little more prosperous than Beiqiao Town, but it was also very limited.

Signs could be seen all over the streets of the town, all of them bearing similar messages.

“Low-cost wholesale high-quality yellow peaches.”

There were even many people standing guard the signboard, smoking cigarettes in their mouths, hoping that a buyer would come.

“Brother Lin, look at how distressed these people are. One look and you can tell that the sales aren’t very good,” Zhang Xiaoyu said in the car.

“It’s already so late, and they still can’t sell the fruits. Of course they’ll be anxious.” Lin Yi unbuckled his seatbelt. “Let’s go down and take a look.”

After parking the car at the side, Lin Yi and Zhang Xiaoyu walked towards the middle-aged man not far away.

“Brother, how much are a catty of the yellow peaches you are selling?” Zhang Xiaoyu leaned over and asked.

“We don’t sell them individually. We only sell them wholesale,” the middle-aged man said.

“If you buy more than 100 catties, it’ll be 3 yuan and 80 cents per catty.”

Because they had done their homework before, the two of them felt that the price was not bad. Although it was not very cheap, it was not very high either.

“How many catties does your family have in total? How’s the quality?” Zhang Xiaoyu asked.

“There’s no problem with the quality. They’re all stored in the warehouse. There’s about 10,000 catties. If you can buy them all, I can give you a cheaper price.”

Zhang Xiaoyu nodded. She felt that the price was alright, so she pulled Lin Yi aside.

“Brother Lin, let’s go to other shops and ask around. If we buy more, we can lower the price even more.”

“This is a public welfare live stream. As long as the price is right, there’s no need to lower the price anymore. This is alright.”

“That’s true. Even if we don’t profit from it, we will still enjoy a lower wholesale price.”

“That’s what I’m thinking. After all, we’re here to help. Don’t let them lose out.”

“Okay, let’s go to the other shops and ask.”

“Okay.”

In the next hour, Lin Yi and Zhang Xiaoyu walked around the town.

They soon realized that everyone was selling the fruits at about the same price.

Even if there was a cheaper shop, it would at most be five to ten cents cheaper. The difference was not as big as they had imagined.

After understanding the market, the two of them returned to the car.

“Brother Lin, we already know the details. If we buy them in large quantities, I’m guessing that the price can be lowered to less than 3.5 yuan. This is a price that they can accept. But like you said, we shouldn’t lower the price in the first place. Otherwise, it will be meaningless for us to come this time.”

“I think this price is fine too.” Lin Yi held his phone. “I’ll make a call and contact the upstream manufacturers.”

With that, Lin Yi called Wu Zhaoyou.

“Secretary Wu, have you been busy recently?”

Zhang Xiaoyu was speechless when she heard how Lin Yi addressed him.

What kind of godly connections did Brother Lin have?

He actually knew the secretary?

“I haven’t been too busy recently. I was just thinking of going to Zhonghai to have a drink with you to catch up.”

“There’s no need to go to Zhonghai. I’m here in Yangcheng.”

“Really? Where are you? I’ll come look for you now,” Wu Zhaoyou said enthusiastically. “Boss Lin, why didn’t you tell me you were coming?”

“It was a last-minute decision, so I didn’t want to trouble you.”

“If you call me now, you must have something on your mind,” Wu Zhaoyou said with a smile.

“Recently, there’s a live stream that aims to help farmers. It’s a form of public welfare. Jinfeng County in Yangcheng grows peaches for a living. I want to process these fruits and turn them into canned food. Then, I’ll sell them in the live stream as a promotional item.”

“Really? This is great news. President Lin, thank you so much.”

“It’s what I should do. You don’t have to be so polite.”

“Then shall we have a meal together and discuss this matter?”

“There’s no hurry to eat. I’m in Shuanghong Town in Jinfeng County. I feel that the prices offered by the locals are not bad. Now, I need to find a reliable cannery. Secretary Wu, can you help me contact these people?”

“That’s not a problem. I’ll help you contact them now. I’ll get them to call you later.” Wu Zhaoyou said.

“You’re doing a good deed for our Yangcheng. I’ll definitely do my best to help.”

“Thank you, Secretary Wu.”

After hanging up Wu Zhaoyou’s call, Lin Yi thought about it again and felt that the rest of the matter could be handled step by step. There was nothing to worry about.

Clang! Clang! Clang!

Just as Lin Yi was thinking about this, he heard someone knock on the car window.

Standing outside was a middle-aged couple in ordinary blue robes, looking at him expectantly.

Lin Yi rolled down the window. “Big Sister, what’s the matter?”

“Young man, I heard that you want to buy yellow peaches? Do you want to come to our house to take a look? The price is guaranteed to be cheap.”

Hearing this, the two of them looked at each other. Zhang Xiaoyu subconsciously asked,

“How much do you pay us for a catty?”

“If you buy 100 catties, it’ll be 2.8 yuan. If you buy more, it will be cheaper.”

This price surprised Zhang Xiaoyu.

On the other hand, Lin Yi was extremely calm.

Previously, when he opened a restaurant and went to the market to buy goods, he had suffered such a loss after being scammed.

Nothing good was sold this cheap. Moreover, they had taken the initiative to come find them, so there must be something fishy going on.

“There’s no need to play these little tricks. It’s quite boring.”
