Chapter 789 - 789 What Does This Have to Do With Me?

789 What Does This Have to Do With Me?

“It’s a private matter. I’m doing a good deed.”

He Yuanyuan nodded and did not say anything else.

The boss had always been full of tricks. No one could guess what he was thinking.

Ten minutes later, Zhao Yali came in with a thick stack of materials.

!!
She didn’t know what Lin Yi wanted to discuss, so she brought over all the relevant materials.

“President Lin, there are a total of 52 poor counties in the country, including autonomous counties and some district-level areas,” Zhao Yali said.

“The average annual income of the people in these areas is less than 1,200 yuan. They all farm for a living, so their living conditions are very difficult.”

“These are according to the national standards, right? What about the foundation’s statistics?”

“The statistics from the foundation state that there a lot more qualified locations than this,” Zhao Yali said.

“The conditions in these poor counties are worse than we thought. The foundation has already sent them targeted assistance, but it’s still a drop in the bucket. The effect is not significant.”

“Are those places’ conditions caused by bad harvests?”

“That’s basically it,” Zhao Yali said. “In addition, there is a lack of local investment in the area. As a result, a vicious cycle is formed.”

Lin Yi rubbed his temples. He didn’t have a good solution to this problem.

In a place like this where the people were poor and did not have any industrial advantages, even if he wanted to help, he would not know where to start.

It was a real headache.

Moreover, this was a normal phenomenon. If even the country was helpless to help them, he had even less ability to deal with this.

“I’ll tell you what I think first.”

Lin Yi felt that it was unrealistic to discuss how to help these people now.

He might as well tell them his plan first and then choose some suitable areas to help.

“I’m doing a live stream nowadays. To put it simply, I’m an online streamer.”

As soon as he said this, everyone in the conference room, except Qi Xianzhao and He Yuanyuan, looked at Lin Yi.

Their eyes were filled with shock and surprise.

The president was really a strange person. He did not care about such a big company and actually went to be a streamer.

Was he trying to play with the world?

“Uh… don’t you know about this?”

Zhao Yali smiled awkwardly, “If President Lin didn’t tell us, we wouldn’t have known.”

“He Yuanyuan, what’s wrong with you? Why didn’t you inform them about such a big matter!”

He Yuanyuan, “???”

‘I’m just the head of finance. What does this have to do with me?!’

“This was negligence on my part. I’ll reflect on myself later.”

Lin Yi nodded in satisfaction and continued.

“Now, there’s a live stream event going on. It’s a public welfare live broadcast. My idea is to find a few poor areas to help them sell their goods. At the same time, I’ll promote it and guarantee their future sales.”

Qi Xianzhao scratched his head.

President Lin didn’t seem to care so much about his company.

Sigh, this was too difficult.

Most of the people in the meeting room were young. Even Zhao Yali was only in her early forties.

They were all loyal viewers of short videos. The videos that they liked on their phones were all young hunks, so they were very familiar with such things.

“President Lin, I understand what you mean,” Zhao Yali said.

“I’ve seen such live streams before, but the things sold are all essentially food-based. We should find areas with similar industrial advantages to help.”

“Pretty much. That’s what I was thinking too.”

Lin Yi held his head with one hand. “I want to help those poor counties, but there’s nothing I can do about them.”

The people in the conference room nodded in agreement.

Although President Lin had a good heart, such a problem was not something a company could solve alone.

After pondering for a long time, Zhao Yali said,

“President Lin, there’s a contradiction in this matter. If these places had an industrial advantage, they wouldn’t be poor in the first place.”

“I know that. Let’s just find a locality that is comparatively poorer.”

“I hjave a few suitable candidates that match that criteria.”

Zhao Yali flipped through the documents and said, “In Jinfeng County, a subsidiary of Yangcheng, most of the villagers grow yellow peaches for a living. However, in recent years, the rise of the domestic fruit industry and the cultivation of new fruit varieties has caused a huge impact on the local market. As a result, the purchasing price of the distributors has dropped, and the farmers’ income has fallen.

“There’s also Tongming County in Jiang Province. It used to be a very famous tea village, but the locals are very conservative and have always insisted on making tea by hand. In recent years, with the development of technology, tea-making as a craft has improved, so their sales have decreased year by year. The situation is not looking good.”

“And the Northeast…”

“Alright, there’s no need to say too much.” Lin Yi said.

“You can just pick out five for me in these places. I can’t sell everything. I’m not omnipotent.”

“Alright, I’ll deal with this as soon as possible. I’ll send the information to your email later.”

“Alright, do so as soon as possible.” Lin Yi stood up. “Meeting adjourned.”

After the meeting ended, Lin Yi called Qi Xianzhao and He Yuanyuan over for lunch. They chatted about the company’s development before he left alone.

During this period of time, Zhao Yali sent over the information that she had prepared. She was very efficient.

After dinner, Lin Yi called Zhang Xiaoyu.

“Brother Lin, you were looking for me.”

“Are you busy? The live stream for the farmers has been confirmed for next Friday. I have something to discuss with you about this.”

“I’m not busy,” Zhang Xiaoyu said. “I’m baking a cake now. Come to my house and I’ll let you try it.”

“That works too.”

Lin Yi didn’t care where he went as long as it didn’t affect his business.

Half an hour later, Lin Yi arrived at Zhang Xiaoyu’s house.

As usual, no one dared to stop Lin Yi’s supercar.

“Brother Lin, come in.”

Zhang Xiaoyu said happily when she saw Lin Yi. She found a pair of slippers for him and welcomed him in.

‘What’s that smell? It’s like something’s burned.’

“Damn, my chiffon cake!”

Zhang Xiaoyu hurriedly ran to the kitchen and turned off the electric oven. However, she immediately realized that the cake was already burnt.

“Are you going to feed me this?”

Zhang Xiaoyu chuckled. “I miscalculated. I was so excited when I learned you were coming that I forgot about the cake.”

“Someone like you should kiss goodbye to cooking in the future.”

“Brother Lin, stop complaining. Leave me some dignity.” Zhang Xiaoyu led Lin Yi to the sofa. “What do you want to drink? I’ll get it for you.”

“Mineral water will do.”

“Sure thing.”

Zhang Xiaoyu opened the fridge and took out two bottles of mineral water. “Brother Lin, this is for you.”

Looking at the mineral water taken out of the fridge, Lin Yi pondered for a few seconds.

“You don’t keep any stockings in your fridge, do you?”
