585 The Rich’s Weird Way of Thinking

Seeing He Yuanyuan’s expression, Deng Wenlin felt perplexed.

Even if Lin Yi’s egg-fried rice was not as good as his, it was much better than an ordinary chef’s.

Why would she show such an expression?

Could it be that she was too nervous during the tasting and did not cleanse her palate properly?

!!
This seemed to be the only possibility.

He Yuanyuan grabbed Ji Qingyan’s arm in excitement.

“Senior Sister, quickly try it. Theegg-fried rice made by the boss is especially delicious. It’s much better than the previous one. It’s invincible.”

Ji Qingyan did not know what to do with He Yuanyuan.

She couldn’t tell if it was really delicious or just an act.

No matter what, Master Deng was a state banquet master. Logically speaking, his food should be better than Lin Yi’s. Why was he like this?

Didn’t they agree to give a fair evaluation of the two bowls of egg-fried rice? Why was she acting like this?

“Aiya, don’t just stand there. Quickly try it. It’s really amazing. I’ve never eaten such delicious egg-fried rice.

“It’s even better than Master Tang’s.

“Master Deng cooks very well, but I still think that the boss’s cooking is better. Really, I wouldn’t lie to you.”

Ji Qingyan also picked up a spoon and took a taste. Although her expression was not as exaggerated as He Yuanyuan’s, one could still see the surprise on her face.

It was indeed much better than Master Deng’s.

“Do you believe me now?” He Yuanyuan asked.

“Boss, you’re really amazing. This plate of egg-fried rice is worlds apart from the one you made in the past. It’s so delicious that it’s unbeatable.”

“Wait…”

Deng Wenlin stopped him.

“Miss He, do you mean that Mr. Lin’s egg-fried rice is better than mine?”

“Yes, although he’s my boss, I can be very fair. The egg-fried rice he makes is indeed a little better than yours. If you don’t believe me, ask my senior sister. She never lies.”

“I agree.” Ji Qingyan nodded.

“That’s impossible. The two of you just said moments ago that my egg-fried rice is better than his. Why are you changing your mind now?” Deng Wenlin said.

“We said that just now because we were comparing it to his previous dish, but the egg-fried rice he made today is very different from before. If Master Deng doesn’t believe us, you can try it yourself.”

Deng Wenlin did not believe this. He was a grand master of Huaiyang cuisine at the state banquet.

He had spent more years working as a chef than Lin Yi had even lived.

How could the food Lin Yi made be better than his?

Picking up the spoon, Deng Wenlin took a bite.

However, it was also at this moment that his expression froze and became complicated.

Without a doubt, he instantly realized what the conclusion was.

That variety of texture and taste was really not something he could compete with.

However, they were all using the same ingredients. This was only a slight difference in the seasoning. How could the taste of the egg-fried rice be so different?

This was definitely at the level of the state banquet!

Deng Wenlin did not say anything else. Instead, he chewed it carefully.

That unique taste was simply irresistible.

Half a minute later, Deng Wenlin smiled bitterly and gave Lin Yi a thumbs-up.

“Mr. Lin, your egg-fried rice is really good. I admit defeat. Moreover, the fact that the price of this plate of egg-fried rice is 189 is a little low. To be honest, it’s really unfair for you to open a restaurant here. The students here can’t afford it at all.”

Lin Yi liked people like Deng Wenlin who were willing to admit defeat.

“I’m not short of money. I’m just playing around.”

“Since Mr. Lin has this spirit of entertainment, I won’t say anything else. I might come again in the future to ask you about your cooking. Little Brother, I hope you won’t find this troublesome.”

“Um…”

Lin Yi found this a little difficult to answer. He was only good at the dishes on the menu. He was really inferior to this master in terms of all other dishes.

However, he had already come this far. He had to continue pretending no matter what.

“No problem. Let’s talk more when we have the chance.”

Lin Yi pretended to be mysterious, stunning Deng Wenlin.

Deng Wenlin excitedly took out 200 yuan from his pocket.

“According to what I said just now, I’ll pay for your egg-fried rice regardless of who wins, so can I take this plate of rice away?”

“If you want, you can just have it. You don’t have to pay for it,” said Ji Qingyan.

“That won’t do. This is the industry’s rule. You have to pay for your meals. You can’t owe anyone a favor.” Deng Wenlin smiled at Ji Qingyan.

“You must be the lady boss. Take this money. I won’t take advantage of you, but you can’t take advantage of me either. You have to give me the 11 yuan change.”

Even though she had been addressed as such many times, every time she heard these three words, she would feel elated.

She took out 11 yuan from her bag and gave it to Deng Wenlin.

This feeling was very special to Ji Qingyan.

She felt that this 189 yuan was more meaningful than earning 18.9 million yuan.

“I’ll leave first. I won’t disturb your business.”

“Good. Take care, Mr. Deng.”

“Lin Yi, look, we earned 189 yuan. We made money as soon as we opened our doors. Our business will definitely be profitable in the future.”

“It’s just 189 yuan. Is there a need to be so excited? Putting aside the cost of ingredients and overhead, this is not even enough for you to buy a lipstick.”

“That’s different.”

“We know that we can earn a lot of money by moving our mouths and brains. However, this 189 yuan is money that we earned with our physical labour. It’s hard-earned money.”

“Um… when you put it that way, it does seem to be the case.”

“Okay, I have an immature idea.”

“What idea?”

“Let’s take this opportunity to experience the lifestyle of ordinary people. What do you think?”

“Isn’t life normal now?”

“You’re wearing a Richard Mille which is worth more than ten million dollars, driving a super sports car worth more than thirty million dollars, and wearing limited edition sneakers worth more than six thousand dollars. Do you think this is the life that ordinary people live?”

“Eh… It really doesn’t seem that ordinary,” Lin Yi said, “How do you want to experience it?”

“We can use the money earned through this small shop to support our lifestyle. Let’s see how much we can spend every month and how much we earn.”

“If this shop keeps losing money, it means that there’s something wrong with our ability. We might starve to death in the future.”

“That’s an interesting idea. Since I have nothing better to do, I’ll give it a try.”

“Good, it’s decided. From now on, our daily expenses will be paid for through this small shop.”

“No problem.”

He Yuanyuan, “???”

Did all rich people have such strange thoughts?

If you think you have too much money, you can give it to me.

Let me tell you what it means to suffer among the people.
