Beast Taming: Becoming a Bug-type Elite Four Member Starting with Silkworm Raising

Chapter 98 The atrocities of the Fire PiratesChapter 98 The atrocities of the Fire Pirates
”Where are you thinking... I want to contract this pet beast.”

Seeing the surprise in Dr. Xiamu’s eyes, Russell explained helplessly.

I have been focusing on doing business recently, and I have troubled the Senluo City Beast Control Alliance several times in terms of handling procedures and purchasing goods. It seems that I have been made to think that I am particularly mercenary...

However, upon hearing this, Dr. Natsuki’s reaction was even more intense than when Russell was about to buy and sell. He shook his head repeatedly to dissuade:

”Russell, you just saw the flaw in that dead leaf cloakworm! If you think platinum-level insect beasts are rare, I can find another one for you...”

Russell is now considered a rare talent among the new generation of beast masters in Senluo City. He has also built a lot of properties on Fenglin Road. It seems that he plans to take root here. This makes the Senluo City Beast Master Alliance have a strong impression on him. Take it more seriously than the average young genius.

After all, if you become a high-level beast master and completely move to another large city to live, then Senluo City will only gain a little reputation. After meeting, it will be just a nod. How can there be young talents who have taken root in their hometown? The fragrance.

As the chief scientific researcher of Senluo City, Dr. Xia Mu is not willing to see Russell embark on the foolish act of rushing for success and sacrificing his own growth space for the sake of temporary advancement.

”Dr. Xiamu, thank you for your reminder, but I have my own judgment on the matter of contracted beasts. From a conventional perspective, whether it is the UFO Hawk Moth or the Great Sword Mantis, they are both races of pet beasts that are not recommended for contracting. ?”

Understanding that Dr. Xia Mu expressed his opinion on such a personal matter as a contract beast out of good intentions, Russell just smiled and continued to explain.

Seeing his persistence, Dr. Natsuki couldn’t say anything more. Instead, he contacted the staff at the auction house to discuss purchasing the dead leaf cloakworm.

Judging from the quality of the pet beast itself, this dead leaf cloakworm is indeed excellent. This kid has the talent of ”insect whisperer”. Maybe he can really give it some psychological counseling and change its timid character.

”The auction house was planning to send this dead leaf cloakworm to you. If you want to buy it, it’s no problem. I said hello. If you buy it now, the price will be 50.00% of the starting price.”

After a while, Dr. Natsuki hung up the phone and conveyed to Russell the auction house’s response to the separate transaction.

Upon hearing the news, Russell was overjoyed and took Dr. Natsuki to the auction house’s warehouse.

Others only read the basic information about the dead leaf cloakworm, and then lost interest because it showed too timid character, but Russell has been carefully observing the animal huddled in the cage from beginning to end. A little pet beast with one corner.

Through the vision of the ”Cocoon of Evolution” talent, he saw all the information about the dead leaf cloakworm, so he deeply understood that this was an excellent pet beast that should not be missed.

”Dead Leaf Clothes Worm
Attributes: Insects, plants

Bloodline Level: Platinum
Life energy level: Level

Skills: Miracle Slime, Reveal, Resistant Body

Growth progress: 21%

Among them, insect energy accounts for 14% and plant energy accounts for 7%.

Ability development: rapid recovery (not yet understood, trauma self-healing proficiency 70%)”

This dead leaf cloakworm, which is still in its infancy, has already mastered two skills in addition to its racial talent. Among them, Resistance Body is a very rare mid-level skill.

Although the abnormal saving throw effect provided by the resistant body is not as obvious as those skills targeting a single abnormality, it is better than comprehensive and can be applied in any situation.

If it can be advanced to the high-level skill ”Clean Body”, the dead leaf cloakworm will be able to be immune to most abnormal effects.

More importantly, in its skill development column, there is another high-level skill ”Quick Recovery”.

This skill is not just as simple as recovering injuries. This recovery includes the recovery speed of energy and mucus. It can also increase the therapeutic effect of confiding, which greatly improves several core abilities of the dead leaf cloakworm.

Having such a powerful skill set at a young age is enough to prove the potential of this dead leaf cloakworm.

As for personality issues, Russell, who can communicate with insect beasts without any barriers, is confident that he can find the problem and make targeted improvements.

Moreover, Russell does not yet have the ability to contract a third pet beast. He just buys a suitable cub and raises it first. Even if the most unfavorable situation occurs, he will not be able to change its timid character after working hard for a long time. At worst, he will waste hundreds of thousands of dollars. To my credit, the money is not that bad now anyway!

…………

A few minutes later, led by the staff, Russell and Dr. Xiamu arrived at the temporary animal pen of the auction house.

”You are a member recommended by Dr. Xiamu, so let’s make it clear that this dead leaf cloakworm can be sold at a % discount, but the auction items sold at a discount have no after-sales service and cannot be returned. This is not the case for anyone. Rules that no one can change, I hope you can forgive me, Mr. Russell.”

Standing next to the animal pen, the manager of the auction house explained the transaction to Russell straight to the point.

Russell naturally had no opinion on this.

As a human being, it is important to stop when enough is enough. Even if the Senluo Beast Control Alliance attaches great importance to itself now, it cannot take advantage of everything.Being able to get a % discount, Dr. Natsuki’s face plays a certain role, but it is mainly because this dead leaf cloakworm has quality problems.

If you are still entangled in details such as after-sales and returns, then you are doing too little.

The dead leaf cloakworm is very small and can be carried away in an ordinary breeding box, so the auction house did not ask about transport vehicles.

After Russell paid the money, the manager and Dr. Natsuki left the pen, leaving him alone with the pet beast he had taken a liking to.

Recalling the way the dead leaf cloakworm was frightened by the flickering light on the exhibition stand, Russell carefully peeled off a corner of the black cloth on the animal cage, and then said in as kind a tone as possible:

”hello……”

However, before he could finish his words, the dead leaf cloakworm began to scream in alarm when it sensed someone approaching.

And the content conveyed in its cry made Russell frown.

chirp...

Don’t hit me, don’t let me go into the pit, please...!
The intelligence of platinum-level pet beasts has basically reached the same level as ordinary humans. The meaning expressed by the dead leaf cloakworm is very clear.

It is not difficult to tell from its words that during the days in the Fire Pirates camp, this young cloakworm experienced a lot of inhuman torture and abuse.

Its resistant skin and rapid recovery skills are probably passively generated through continuous self-healing through repeated torture.

”Those people are gone. It’s very safe here. Think about it, I haven’t been beaten again during this period.”

Seeing the dead leaf cloakworm showing fear towards everyone like a frightened bird, Russell felt a little distressed and quickly comforted it.

Jiji...?
”Can you talk to me...?”

When Russell’s voice came into his mind, the dead leaf cloakworm, who had always been treated roughly and had almost no interaction with humans, was slightly startled, then shrank down and asked cautiously.

”Yes, from now on I will protect you and no one will dare to hit you casually again!”

After confirming that it was not completely unable to communicate, but that it was just a psychological shadow caused by the previous encounter, Russell felt happy and quickly increased his comfort.

grumble……?
”…Where have those people gone?”

Russell’s kind attitude made the dead leaf cloakworm calm down a little. It moved its body slightly out of the corner of the cage, and then asked weakly.

”died.”

Regarding this question, Russell, who almost died at the hands of the Fire Thieves during the last secret operation, answered angrily.

”By the way, do you still remember where you were caught...in that big pit?”

After thinking about it, he asked about what the dead leaf cloakworm had seen and heard in the Fire Stealing Group’s camp, hoping to see if he could find some clues about the Fire Stealing Group.

”I don’t know...I came out of the egg and was in the pit...don’t send me back!”

But the dead leaf cloakworm just shook its head, as if it didn’t understand anything.

”Okay, you have something to eat and I will take you home later.”

Seeing that the dead leaf cloakworm was getting emotional when he recalled his past experience, Russell, who was afraid of irritating him, stopped asking any more questions.

As he spoke, Russell handed the fresh leaves he had just requested from the front desk of the animal pen to the edge of the cage.

The Dead Leaf Clothesworm’s body doesn’t have enough food to eat, so it can survive by just eating some leaves. If it weren’t for its status as a purely protective pet, I’m afraid it wouldn’t be able to walk out of the Fire Stealing Group’s camp alive...

Slowly he came over and chewed the leaves in Russell’s hand. The dead leaf cloakworm’s trust in him increased a little bit.

It gently poked Russell’s calf with the finished branch, and said in a flattering tone:

”My name is No. . As long as you don’t hit me, I will be obedient...”
