Beast Taming: Becoming a Bug-type Elite Four Member Starting with Silkworm Raising

Chapter 73 Ferocious Beast Management BureauChapter 73 Ferocious Beast Management Bureau
”Are you sure you found this body in the suburbs of the city?”

Seeing Russell frowning, probably realizing the seriousness of the matter, the middle-aged researcher confirmed to him again.

There were ferocious beasts roaming the outskirts of the city, but the sentry posts and camps of the garrison were completely unaware of it. This was already a major security incident.

What’s even worse is that what was discovered this time was not a living three-tailed nighteye fox, but a corpse.

The physical fitness of high-level pet beasts is very strong, and it is almost impossible to die of inexplicable illness. The skeleton test result of this three-tailed night-eyed fox is ”approaching adulthood”, and it is far from dying of old age.

Therefore, this corpse represents that there are not only three-tailed night-eye foxes in the suburbs of the city, but also other more powerful pet beasts.

It is so powerful that it can kill a purple-gold level ferocious beast that is about to reach adulthood and has a strength of at least level seven...

If a pet beast of this level rushed to the edge of the city such as Maplewood Road to launch an attack, the number of casualties would easily exceed four digits before the high-level beastmaster arrived.

”Yes, it is in the Baixi Orchard in the suburbs, but this three-tailed night-eyed fox should have been dead for a long time, at least more than a year.”

After reading the information about the three-tailed night-eyed fox and the location where its corpse appeared, Russell also understood that the matter was a bit complicated and quickly told all the information he knew.

”I have to ask you to wait here for a while. Dr. Natsuki and several other senior researchers are on their way back.”

After repeatedly confirming the origin of the bones, the researcher made a few phone calls and then continued to work hard.

Knowing that this matter was quite serious, Russell couldn’t say much and could only sit in the laboratory and wait for the arrival of the institute’s management.

…………

Fortunately, the institute notified Dr. Natsuki who was working outside as soon as it noticed something was wrong. Before it completely darkened, Russell finally saw him and another senior researcher in the internal conference room on the third floor of the institute.

”This is Professor Ding An, an honorary professor at Senluo Beast Control Research Institute and a member of the Beast Management Bureau. This is Russell, the young man with the talent of the insect whisperer that I told you before. ”

Dr. Natsuki was obviously also worried about the appearance of the corpse of the three-tailed nighteye fox in the city. When they first met, he introduced Russell and the gray-haired senior researcher to each other concisely and without any nonsense.

Hearing this, Professor Ding An, or Sheriff Ding An, nodded slightly to Russell, and then explained his purpose:

”Purple-gold-level pet beasts are fully capable of living in the Black Dew Forest. In Senluo City, there has been no news of any beastmaster contracting with a three-tailed night-eyed fox for decades. This three-tailed night-eyed fox entered the city and died here. We must investigate the reason in depth and ask for your cooperation and explain the situation in detail.”

Hearing what Sheriff Ding An said so seriously, Russell could only nod his head and say whatever he wanted.

All people should have heard of the Ferocious Beast Management Bureau, but very few have actually come into contact with it.

The world of beast control is extremely vast, with humans occupying less than one-tenth of the area. In addition, with the prosperity of beast control civilization, there are even more pet beasts than humans in the city, so there are no ecological problems in this world for the time being.

Therefore, most pet beasts will not stay in human settlements for a long time unless necessary, let alone attack human cities rashly.

Among the thousands of third-level and above cities in the four principalities, only a handful of them are actually attacked by pet beasts every year. Most people’s lives are quite safe.

But as the saying goes, if you are not afraid of ten thousand, be afraid of the worst. The data of each vicious beast attack is just a few insignificant numbers at the principality level, but if it falls on an individual, it is also a tragic story of family destruction and death.

Therefore, the Alliance officially established a Beast Management Bureau to investigate the dangers lurking around the city, especially to control the activities of those beasts that are hostile to humans and have cruel temperaments.

The strength of pet beasts that dare to attack urban areas is usually not bad. The average beast control level of the members of the Beast Management Bureau is much higher than that of ordinary official organizations. Even the civilian staff are basically above the sixth level.

When Russell finished recounting what he saw and heard in the Baixi orchard to Sheriff Ding’an, the middle-aged researcher with thinning hair walked into the conference room holding a report.

”Sorry, because the death time of this three-tailed night-eyed fox was too long, and the place of its death was not the place where it was attacked. It should have fled to the suburbs after being injured, so it is impossible to detect accurate information about the attacker.”

Since he could not detect any further valid information, he looked a little depressed.

Although the three-tailed night-eyed fox is not a serious agile pet beast, most fox-like pet beasts are slender and their speed is never slow. A seventh-level three-tailed night-eyed fox can cross the border by running casually for 10, , minutes. A range of dozens of kilometers.

In addition, the time span is one or two years. If some preliminary information cannot be obtained from the bones, then the work of investigating the cause of death will be like finding a needle in a haystack.

”Take Baixi Orchard as the center and search within ten kilometers nearby. At least ensure the safety of the suburbs first...” Without more detailed information, Ding An could only formulate a rough action plan for the time being.

Not only is this time-consuming and labor-intensive, it will probably have no effect. It is really a helpless move, but it is also the most effective method at present.

After all, why the three-tailed night-eyed fox died in Baixi Orchard can be investigated slowly, but it is urgent to confirm that there are no other ferocious beasts hiding within the city limits.

However, including Dr. Xiamu and Sheriff Ding’an, as well as several groups of people who came to the conference room to discuss, the management of the Senluo Beast Control Research Institute seemed to have no clue about the follow-up investigation.

Just when everyone was at a loss what to do, a weak voice suddenly came from the corner of the conference room:
”How about... I go ask the black cloud flies in the orchard?”

Looking at the sad faces of the bosses, Russell suddenly had an idea in his mind.

The difficulty with the whole thing now is that there are no witnesses.

But from Russell’s perspective, there were actually thousands of witnesses in the White Creek Orchard, namely the black cloud flies living in the orchard.

Although the lifespan of black cloud flies is short, they are certified pets after all, not ordinary creatures. They can live for about one or two years. Based on the time when the stench of Baixi Orchard is generated, the black cloud fly population here should be completely replaced. No more than two generations.

The bones of the three-tailed night-eyed fox grew into corpse-scented night orchids, which attracted black cloud flies to occupy the orchard. Even if they were not very intelligent, they should still remember a little bit about such a major event involving the migration of the entire group.

”Why did you forget about this just now! Then please leave as soon as possible.”

Upon hearing Russell’s suggestion, Dr. Natsuki slapped his head and pulled Russell towards the underground parking lot of the institute.

When it comes to the safety of suburban residents, the sooner the investigation is carried out, the better. There is no need to worry about working hours at the moment.

As the chief researcher of Senluo City, Dr. Natsuki’s car is a fifth-level wind-based mechanical beast ”Turbine Wing”. This beast uses almost all its potential to accelerate its movement speed, and it is extremely fast when activated at full power. Like a passing gust of wind.

The two of them quickly arrived at the quiet Baixi Orchard in the night.

Without the attraction of corpse-scented night orchids, a lot of the black cloud flies here dispersed in just one day. Russell put on a gas mask and walked deep into the orchard, only to encounter a small group of black cloud flies resting on the branches. fly.

”Sorry to bother you...”

Picking up a stick and tapping the tree trunk lightly, Russell waved a small bucket of high-quality nutrients brought from the research institute to the awakened black cloud flies.

Before setting off, he deliberately added a lot of fishy-smelling ingredients to the barrel of nutrients. Attracted by the delicious food, the black cloud flies flew down from the trees one after another.

”Have you eaten enough? Let me ask you something, how did the bones under the orchid get into the hole? Or, have your people seen a purple-black fox here?”

Not long after, all the nutrients in the bucket were eaten. Russell quickly stretched out the energy thread of the ”Cocoon of Evolution” talent and asked about the black cloud flies who were especially happy because of the midnight snack.

In view of the fact that the black cloud flies are not very good at understanding, merging and expressing, he also thoughtfully changed the questions in several ways, just to hope that the black cloud flies can recall some detailed information.

The simple black cloud flies were very well-behaved after eating the nutrients, and Russell quickly got a lot of useful information from them.

”There’s a fox, a lot of blood...!”

”My companions said, all of us, follow the blood and come here...”

As Dr. Natsuki and the others speculated, the three-tailed night-eye fox was seriously injured elsewhere and barely escaped here. Finally, it died in a pothole due to its injuries.

”Which direction did that fox come from?”

Striking while the iron is hot, Russell asked the last and most critical question.

Hearing this question, the black cloud flies buzzed and discussed for a while, and finally pointed to the hillside where the pothole was located.

”Behind the hillside, climb over...”
