Beast Taming: Becoming a Bug-type Elite Four Member Starting with Silkworm Raising

Chapter 71 Corpse Fragrance Night OrchidChapter 71 Corpse Fragrance Night Orchid
”What kind of pet beast is hiding in the dark and controlling phantoms to attack us?”

After realizing that the plague rats in the cave were all phantoms, Russell no longer retreated, but formed a stable defensive circle with the three beasts back to back.

After this period of observation, he found that these plague rat phantoms almost always came out of dark corners, as if they were generated directly from the shadows.

The tunnel was dimly lit. Under these circumstances, a hasty retreat would only lead to a steady stream of attacks, making the situation even more passive.

Rather than exposing flaws while moving, it is better to stay where you are, throw the light sticks around, and try to find the source of the illusion.

”I should be able to deal with the fourth-level phantom pet beast...”

Assessing the strength of his opponent, Russell considered the possibility of winning it on his own.

He was quite confident about the detection result that ”there are no pet beasts above level five here” before entering the cave.

Resonance detectors are one-time amplification props. These props exchange a short duration for powerful effects, so the improvement they bring is obvious. Coupled with the unique scanning capabilities of mechanical pets, the information obtained should not be Too big an error.

Moreover, if there is really a fifth-level pet beast entrenched in the pit, it spans the two-level strength gap, and still occupies the right time and place, and has the first-mover advantage. It can show up and crush Russell and his party head-on. There is no need to use a bunch of phantoms. engage in harassment.

Therefore, Russell deduced that the strength of the pet beast in the cave was most likely level four.

Pet beasts that control phantoms usually have weak physical strength. If they can see through the characteristics of their phantoms and find the location of their main bodies, it is possible for two well-trained third-level pet beasts to surpass one level and win.

”The multi-armed mechanical beast, hold up these light sticks and take a look around.”

Relying on the characteristics of the plague rat phantom appearing from the darkness, Russell gave the remaining light sticks to the multi-armed mechanical beast, allowing it to stretch out several long mechanical arms to illuminate the surrounding area.

However, after letting Ayou and Daodao Mantis cover the multi-armed mechanical beast and search around the cave, Russell didn’t find anything wrong.

The topography of the pit is very simple. Apart from the passage from where you came, there is only a slightly spacious area at the bottom of the hole. There is really no place to hide.

Continuing high-intensity fighting and having to concentrate on vigilance, after fighting off the phantoms of more than twenty plague rats, Ayou and Daodao Mantis were already a little tired.

”Where are you hiding...Is it possible that you can still escape?”

After searching the entire pothole to no avail, Russell couldn’t help but start,
In his impression, it seems that he has never heard of a pet beast that has both the ability to control physical phantoms and the ability to escape from elements.

These two abilities are combined together. When fighting, you can hide in the soil, rocks, or water, and then continuously summon phantom attacks. Unless the opponent can directly level an area, there is no way to fight, and sooner or later he will be defeated. Consumed alive.

If you have this ability, it will not be a problem to dominate one side in the Black Dew Forest. Why live in hiding in the suburbs of a city with few resources.

”There is something else in the cave that I overlooked...could it be this thing?”

After remaining in a stalemate for a while, Russell finally turned his attention to Corpse Fragrance Night Orchid.

Records say that Corpse Fragrance Night Orchid can indeed inherit the remaining abilities from the corpse of a pet beast. Could it be that it doesn’t want to be picked off by someone and uses the phantom ability it absorbs to do it?

Thinking this way, everything seems reasonable.

”Ayou and Daodao Mantis take cover, and the multi-armed mechanical beast goes directly to pick those flowers!”

The left and right were now helpless in the face of a steady stream of phantoms. With an idea in mind, Russell simply commanded a few pet beasts to rush directly towards the ultimate goal of this exploration.

After receiving the order, Ayou and Daodao Mantis launched another fierce attack and repelled the phantom plague rat that surrounded them. The multi-armed mechanical beast took out a special silver knife and a sealed bag from the storage compartment under its body, and then extended its long mechanical arm towards the flower plant of the Night Orchid.

jiji-!
Sure enough, seeing this scene, all the surrounding plague rat phantoms suddenly became anxious, and they all rushed towards Russell without paying attention to the rhythm of the waves of attacks.

In this way, he was basically sure that these phantoms were caused by Shixiang Yelan.

”I’m going, this is going to be a fight!”

Now, the main problem facing Russell has changed from how to find the source of the illusion to how to break through the phantom of the rats and pick off the mature corpse-scented night orchid.

As the rats approached, Ayou’s Nether Explosion, which had been charged in advance, exploded, blowing away nearly ten phantom plague rats at once.

But there were too many phantoms, and half of the squeaking plague rat phantoms broke through the aftermath of the netherworld explosion and rushed forward.

At close range, Nether Explosion can easily injure teammates by mistake. Ayou can only shoot shadow-stitching arrows to delay the movement of Plague Rat Phantom, and the pressure of defense turns to Da Dao Mantis.

Sa-!
Although the Dao Dao Mantis showed some signs of fatigue, its anti-spiritual energy was getting stronger and stronger. It danced its blade arm and rushed into the phantom rat group. Its body swayed from side to side, and its alloy claws hit the vital points with every move. In a moment, a large number of plagues The rat phantom was actually blocked by it alone.

However, the thing that phantom beasts fear the most is a war of attrition. Before Daodao Mantis and Ayou finished dealing with these phantoms, another group of plague rat phantoms came out of the darkness.

”Hurry and pick all the orchids!”

Without further ado, if he continued to use up his three pets, he might not be able to match the constant flow of phantoms. Russell urged the multi-armed mechanical beast to quickly pluck a few orchids from the corpse-scented night orchid.

The growth pattern of corpse night orchid is very special. It does not bear fruits. Instead, when the flowers wither, it releases ghost-like seeds that float around, looking for new corpses to live on.

Therefore, these blooming flowers are where its energy evolves, and they are also the most effective part as cultivation materials.

squeak...

As Russell expected, the creator of the illusion of plague rats was really the corpse-scented night orchid. After all the orchids were picked, the menacing rats disappeared, leaving only a few real plague rats. Hovering nearby.

Without the grand momentum of a large number of illusions, they huddled in the corner of the cave and shivered, not daring to attack Russell again.

After all the flowers were picked, the stems of the corpse-scented night orchid quickly withered and turned into traces of black gas and dissipated in the air.

Under it, the slightly damaged skeleton of the beast immediately appeared.

”Pack up the skeleton and let’s go.”

As the corpse-scented night orchid disappears, its effect in purifying rotten odors also ceases. The black cloud flies in the cave buzz and flap their wings, and the smell from above begins to appear again. Russell asks the multi-armed mechanical beast to pack up the loot and withdraw immediately. Out of the pothole.

”Huh... This orchard should be back to normal soon. Then we can plant a lot of mulberry trees and warm orange fruits. It’s really good...”

On the way out of the orchard, Russell saw that the black cloud flies that had been entrenched for a long time began to slowly disperse. It was obvious that the energy that attracted them had disappeared. It must not be long before the orchard can operate normally.

After an exploration trip, he not only harvested the precious corpse-scented night orchid, but also got such a large orchard that was almost free of charge. He felt particularly comfortable.

It’s so cool to have both wealth and strength improved!
The next thing to do is to gradually utilize the purchased real estate and make the corpse-scented night orchid into high-quality cultivation materials suitable for Ayou’s consumption.
