Beast Taming: Becoming a Bug-type Elite Four Member Starting with Silkworm Raising

Chapter 69 Exploration PreparationsChapter 69 Exploration Preparations
After returning to the Insect Controlling House, Russell searched for information about Corpse Fragrance Night Orchid on the internal information website of Senluo Beast Controlling Laboratory.

The records on the website are very similar to what Liang Kun said, but more detailed.

Corpse Fragrance Night Orchid is indeed a mid-level material, but because it can continue to absorb the energy of corpses, its actual effect is difficult to generalize. This is quite similar to the incubation material.

But in general, pet beasts that can grow corpse-scented night orchid will not be too bad when alive, and their attributes are basically biased towards evil, ghost and other types.

After all, pet beasts with attributes such as fire and light will automatically reject dark energy whether they are alive or dead, and the corpse-scented night orchid cannot take root at all.

At the same time, the record also mentions the growth cycle of several years. The faint fragrance after maturity attracts scavenging beasts but can purify nearby areas of rot and other corpse-scented night orchid’s basic attributes. It can be used in various situations in Baixi Orchard. Matches the number.

According to this speculation, the main reason why a large number of black cloud flies gathered in Baixi Orchard and could not be driven away was probably because of the corpse-scented night orchid growing here.

After reading these contents, Russell felt somewhat confident about exploring that pothole.

”Ayou, this rebellious son, has been very lucky recently. Opportunities come one after another.”

It is estimated that Ayou will get a lot of benefits after swallowing the Corpse Night Orchid, and her strength will improve again, Russell thought happily.

Logically speaking, when you encounter a very suitable mid-level cultivation material for a guardian beast, it is safest to invite a small team to explore together.

However, he ultimately planned to explore alone.

On the one hand, it’s because although Baixi Orchard is a bit remote, it still belongs to the suburbs of the city and is not a real wilderness. The garrison in charge of that area will patrol regularly to clean up pet beasts with excessive strength. The level of danger is not that high. go.

On the other hand, considering the cost issue...

Hiring a team with clear division of labor in investigation, treatment, and combat positions, and accompanying them with a mature exploration team, the price is too low, people are not interested in taking orders, the price is too high, and the price/performance ratio is too low.

If you hire some half-baked or newbies for cheap, their combat effectiveness may be about the same as that of Liang Kun, but not as good as Russell himself. If you can’t help them when the time comes, forget it, and you will have to devote yourself to protecting them.

”It’s really hard to live without money. I don’t know when the newly ordered stone cricket cubs will arrive.”

Looking at the few credits left in his account, Russell curled his lips.

After buying a batch of real estate, he is now back to poverty.

Although the insect silk business is booming, Yu Chongwu now owes 5000 million credit points to Senluo Clothing Company. Even if the scale of silkworm breeding is expanded to thousands, it will only be able to repay a few dozen per month. Thousands of debts.

If he wants to pay off the money as soon as possible, Russell not only has to optimize the worm silk business, but also expand other businesses.

For example, selling some stone crickets, this kind of income that does not belong to the production of worm silk, can be kept by yourself.

You have to make money and cultivate at the same time, so the pressure is quite high.

…………

Before setting off again to the White Creek Orchard, Russell used the last of his funds to buy the property rights of this land, and also purchased a large amount of deodorizing and anti-virus supplies from the previous orchard owner.

Things like deodorant and gas masks are rarely used in daily life. The middle-aged man holding the real estate certificate has obviously had a psychological shadow on Baixi Orchard, so he only took a token amount of money, which is almost like giving it away for free. Gave it to Russell.

The next day, Russell came to the White Creek Orchard again with a rented multi-armed mechanical beast and a bag full of exploration supplies.

”Huh...human beings do have a natural fear of dark caves.”

Following the black cloud fly to the cave, Russell felt a little scared and decisively threw a fluorescent stick inside.

Fortunately, under the light of the fluorescent stick, he saw that the cave was filled with dry rocks and soil, and there was nothing disgusting.

Then, Russell took out a fist-sized mechanical device from his bag and connected it to the core of the multi-armed mechanical beast. The most expensive disposable consumable in this exploration, the ”Resonance Detector”, has the effect of temporarily greatly improving the detection capabilities of mechanical pets.

I stood at the entrance of the cave and sent the scanning wave back and forth several times until the resonance detector was scrapped. The feedback from the multi-armed mechanical beast was always ”no obvious energy response.”

The meaning of this information is a bit vague, but it at least means that there are no fifth-level pet beasts in the cave.

Slightly relieved, Russell summoned Ayou and Daodao Mantis, gave the follow command to the multi-armed mechanical beast, and then slowly walked into the cave with a light.

Maybe it was because the corpse-scented night orchid was fully mature, and due to its purifying effect, there wasn’t much odor in the cave, but Russell still didn’t dare to take off the gas mask.

Not only was there a large group of black cloud flies that followed him into the hole, these pet flies were stink-making machines. Who knows if they would find some food and then fly over and spray digestive juices...

Secondly, this kind of cave environment is often haunted by pet beasts that are good at using toxins. As the most fragile target in the team, Russell must carefully protect himself.

There were only a few hillsides near the Baixi Orchard, and the cave was not very deep. After walking carefully and slowly for half an hour, Russell arrived at the bottom of the cave.

Through the light of the lamp, he saw a flowering plant that was half a man tall.

Although the name ”Corpse Fragrant Night Orchid” is somewhat evil, its appearance is particularly beautiful.

The jade-like white flowers emitted faint fluorescence, and light blue light spots like fireflies lingered among the branches and leaves. The fragrance slowly seeped into the tip of Russell’s nose through the gaps in the gas mask, quietly dispelling the nauseous feeling caused by the rancid smell he encountered while walking through the orchard.

If it weren’t for the skeleton of a pet animal connected to the bottom of the flower plant, it would be difficult for anyone to associate this fragrant plant with its habit of devouring flesh and blood to grow.

During the growth process, corpse-scented night orchid can keep the rooted corpse in a semi-rotted state, and completely turn the corpse into withered bones, which is proof of its complete maturity.

However, the shape of the withered bones was damaged, and the light in the cave was dim, so it was still unclear what abilities this corpse-scented night orchid had absorbed.

Huhu——

This is it, delicious!

Feeling the scent of corpse-scented night orchid so close at hand, Ayou was so excited that she flapped her wings and was about to fly towards the flower plant.

”and many more!”

However, Russell stopped it seriously at this time.

Because just now, the multi-armed mechanical beast’s scanning skills detected several groups of powerful life energy nearby.

The scanning ability of the low-level mechanical beast is limited. From a certain distance and the obstruction of the rock wall, it can only get some vague information.

But what is certain is that there are no less than ten pet beasts gathered around, and the weakest ones are above the third level.

”The situation is a bit beyond expectations, let’s retreat first.”

After sending the message of retreat to Ayou and Daodao Mantis, Russell quietly turned around.

Although detection was conducted before entering the cave, the life energy of the third-level beasts was not obvious. In addition, they were hidden deep in the cave. Even with the help of a resonance detector, it was indeed difficult to detect their existence.

If there are only one or two, it’s okay. If you encounter more than ten at a time, even if Ayou and Daodao Mantis can win, Russell’s own safety is hard to say...

But what he didn’t expect was that in the aisle behind him, two pairs of glaring eyes suddenly lit up.

squeak--!
A sharp roar was heard, and two blurry black figures rushed towards Russell, who was walking at the end of the team.
