The Daily Life Of A Cyberpunk Magician

Chapter 201 - 157: The Magician and the Hanged Man_2
Chapter 201: Chapter 157: The Magician and the Hanged Man_2With such complaints in mind, Jiang Shu stood in front of the Tarot Meeting’s door, raised his hand to knock, but the door had already opened automatically as if it anticipated his arrival.

”Huh?” Jiang Shu paused for a moment, then his gaze diffused, surveying his surroundings.

He looked at Xiao Jia, whose screen indicated that there was a private network camera nearby.

Interesting.

Jiang Shu smiled and walked into the Tarot Meeting.

The countertop in the room was adorned with crystals of various colors and some decorations related to Western mysticism, such as some impressive-looking copper masks and celestial models.

”You’ve arrived,” said a woman sitting in front of a desk, her back facing Jiang Shu, speaking indifferently.

”I have,” Jiang Shu nodded.

Party B: You shouldn’t have come.

Party C: But I came anyway.

”Take a seat,” the woman turned around and gestured to the seat opposite her desk.

Jiang Shu walked over, glanced at the chair, casually grabbed Xiao Yi, and dusted the chair before sitting down with confidence.

From her response, this woman hadn’t read Gu Long.

”Wolf...?” The woman read the name from the Simulated Light Screen order, her appearance concealed behind white, and then continued, ”My name is Du Yuyi, the Tarot Master here, you can just call me Du Niang.”

Hmm, she was applying a face mask, and as she spoke, she smoothed it against her skin for a better fit.

”Um, I’ve come for some consultation, and I hope you can help me,” Jiang Shu said politely.

”That’s fine, draw a card from this deck,” Du Niang took out a deck of tarot cards from under the table and tossed it casually in front of Jiang Shu.

”Huh?” Jiang Shu’s face was full of question marks, ”Is this how you play tarot cards?”

Because of his magic needs, he had previously studied a small amount of Western mysticism, and even though he didn’t understand it very well, he knew for sure that this wasn’t how tarot card divination was supposed to be.

In fact, he had been curious when he saw Su Xiaoou doing tarot divination before and wondered if she should at least make it look real and study beforehand.

Later when he heard she had studied it, he was somewhat puzzled, and now it seemed like a case of ’like master, like disciple.’ Was this how Du Yuyi did her divinations?

”It’s up to you. You can also shuffle, cut the deck, then choose a card or whatever, but it doesn’t really make a difference,” the woman pouted and then noticed a wrinkle in her face mask, smoothing it out quickly.

She seemed indifferent to everything except taking good care of herself.

”...” Jiang Shu didn’t say anything more, instead he casually drew a card from the deck and turned it over in front of Du Yuyi.

It was a portrait card, a figure with the ”∞” symbol atop their head.

On the tarot card, the figure was dressed in a white base robe and deep red cloak, with an Ouroboros girdled around their waist, their right hand holding a Scepter up to the sky, their left pointing to the ground.

Besides him on the table, there were items like the ”Star Coin,” ”Longsword,” and ”Holy Grail.”

Roses and lilies bloomed at his feet.

It was a ”Magician” card, and Jiang Shu easily recognized it.

”Hmm...” Du Yuyi glanced at the tarot card and said casually, ”You’re not Wolf; you’re Jiang Shu, right?”

Jiang Shu: ”???”

No way, just by drawing a card you could guess who I am? Just because I’m the only magician in Lonely City?

This totally isn’t the same kind of ”Magician,” right? If she hadn’t already figured out who he was, she wouldn’t believe it herself, would she?

”Did you investigate me?” Jiang Shu looked at her, into her eyes through the void of the mask.

Those eyes weren’t clear, as if veiled by a sheer layer, making it difficult to discern the emotional hues within.

These world-weary, witch-like big sisters are the toughest to deal with.

Xiao Jia, on the side, displayed the current emotional color of Du Yuyi’s heart: blue. Given the current context, this color likely represented calmness.

”No, in the whole Lonely City, only you could have drawn this ’Magician’ card. In every tarot deck, only special people can draw special cards,” Du Yuyi continued, a note of resignation in her voice, as she stood up and walked over to the coffee machine on the desk to pour herself a cup of coffee.

”Special people?” Jiang Shu echoed, flipping through the entire deck of tarot cards, discovering that except for the Magician card, all the others beneath it were blank.

He looked at Du Yuyi, who had finished getting her cup of coffee, preempting her by saying, ”I don’t like coffee.”

”I didn’t intend to offer you any, I just need it to wake up,” Du Yuyi’s voice floated back calmly, and soon she sat back down, ”Yet you still came.”

”Did you know I would come?” Jiang Shu asked tentatively.

”Lonely City is only so big; you were bound to come eventually. Let me guess why you started investigating this place,” Du Yuyi thought for a moment, and then said, ”It’s August 18th now, you must have met Clo already, right?”

”Um,” Jiang Shu didn’t say much. This woman was somewhat unfathomable, and he wasn’t clear on how much she actually knew.

”Don’t be nervous,” Du Yuyi seemed to discern his hidden unease, ”I don’t know much about you, it just told me that a ’Magician’ would come to Lonely City. The only one.”

”Hmm, the Magician in tarot cards, not your kind,” Du Yuyi pointed to the ”Magician” in front of her and casually explained, ”The Ouroboros, eternal spirit, thoughts transcending time; Scepter to the sky, finger to the ground, the blending of power and spirit; the rose is life, the lily is death, the life and death of a person, the will of a god; a white robe signifies a pure heart; the red cloak, that you are subjectively engaged in a significantly meaningful act.”
