Chapter 229 - 169: I’m Tired, Take Me Away
Chapter 229: Chapter 169: I’m Tired, Take Me Away”Hmm?” Liu Tingruo frowned immediately upon hearing these words, ”Independence? If we just become independent, how would Fifth District be any different from now?”

”You should be clear about this, there’s a big difference,” Councilman Dick snorted through his nostrils, ”Before, it was the people from the Three Major Groups who held power, after this it will be us in charge.”

Liu Tingruo looked at the councilman in front of her and then slowly lowered her gaze without saying a word.

Jiang Shu carefully watched his sister, and he could see the sadness filled in the depths of her eyes.

That sadness probably was...

Suddenly realizing this bunch of sanctimonious guys?

Cloaked in the guise of righteousness, but in the end, it’s still a struggle for power.

Toppling a dictatorship only so they can establish their own dictatorship.

Or perhaps...

She has found that what she has been persisting in is meaningless, even betraying her morals for it is futile.

She still can’t change anything.

”However, we are also aware that the artificial intelligence project is very forward-thinking,” Councilman Dick shifted the topic, ”For instance, applying it to war planning, using it in various types of weapons and vehicles, it can bring about epoch-making changes in warfare.”

”What exactly are you trying to say?” Ice and snow swirled in Liu Tingruo’s eyes.

”It’s simple, take sides,” Councilman Dick’s voice lowered suddenly as if he did not want too many people to hear, ”We need you to firmly stand with us. Those old men don’t understand, but I’m very clear about the usable results that have already come out of your project, and I need you to consider its war potential as a priority.”

He chuckled, revealing a set of pointed teeth, ”You will still have enough funding for artificial intelligence research, just like now.”

”Before, we provided the funding for research, but you weren’t researching what was useful to us,” Councilman Dick shook his head lightly, ”That’s not fair.”

”We give you the funds, you research what we need,” he continued, ”That’s a fair trade.”

”But this money and these resources are actually not yours. They originally belonged to Tang, and I am conducting research on behalf of Tang. By lineage, the Dick family only has Tang left a long time ago. You guys are just distant relatives helping to manage the inheritance,” Liu Tingruo appeared to know some secrets of the Dick family and unceremoniously exposed Councilman Dick’s statements, ”What, do you also want to usurp the nest?”

”Usurp the nest? What a joke!” Councilman Dick’s eyes narrowed into slits, and his tone lost its calmness, ”When the direct lineage died, we were the ones who saved the family from bankruptcy, it was we who restored the Radiance of Dick, we increased his assets tenfold!”

”And him!” He spat out these words between his teeth, ”He doesn’t even want to bear the Dick name like us!”

Jiang Shu silently moved a few steps forward, a Black Card already appearing in his hand, ready to protect his sister at any moment.

He could feel something was off about Councilman Dick.

He was on the verge of hysteria.

It was probably like...

That type of person who believes in their noble blood getting called ”mongrel,” and what’s key is, he really is a ”mongrel.”

It was as if Liu Tingruo’s words had completely broken his defense.

The room fell silent, neither Liu Tingruo nor Councilman Dick spoke again.

After a long time, Liu Tingruo resumed speaking, ”You can’t change the fact that Tang is the only heir of the Dick family; what do you plan to do with him?”

”No, no, no, we don’t mean to do anything to Chief Tang, he will still be the legitimate heir to the Dick Family. Yes, always has been. We just want to elevate him to a higher position, then it won’t matter what he wants to do,” Councilman Dick shook his hands repeatedly, ”We just need your technical support.”

Liu Tingruo made a judgment in her heart; none of the words spoken in front of her could be trusted.

Councilman Dick continued, ”We can promise you that, after independence, you will still receive funding for researching what you want. Once you successfully develop a truly controllable artificial intelligence, we will apply it in all aspects of society, such as crime monitoring, urban planning. We will use it to build a world you want to see.”

”The prerequisite is that you must first help us win the war,” he looked up at Liu Tingruo, ”Without clearing the Three Major Groups’ armed forces from Fifth District, without using the ’new Black Wall’ to block the Three Major Groups, all of this is just empty talk.”

”So you’re saying, you want me to keep Tang in the dark, slow down the progress of artificial intelligence, and prioritize helping you build strength,” Liu Tingruo summarized.

”Yes, but it’s not just that,” Councilman Dick looked at Liu Tingruo, his tongue flicking at the corner of his mouth, ”We also need to ensure you stand with us, so...”

”Hmm?”

”You must marry me, to become completely mine,” Councilman Dick stared straight at Liu Tingruo, ”Only in this way can I make sure our financial investment isn’t wasted.”

Jiang Shu: ”???”

His fists, clenched.

He looked at Liu Tingruo, who was dumbfounded, then at his own left shoulder and right shoulder, as Ding, in perfect unison, clenched their fists, their screens almost overflowing with righteous indignation.

”I would really like to know...” Liu Tingruo looked at him with a strange gleam in her eyes, and she uttered Councilman Dick’s full name, ”Diller Dick, why would you have such a thought?”
