The Daily Life Of A Cyberpunk Magician

Chapter 200 - 157: The Magician and the Hanged Man
Chapter 200: Chapter 157: The Magician and the Hanged ManHalf a year ago, Dick Tang acquired the White Eagle Company and restarted the artificial intelligence program.

Four months ago, Liu Tingruo appeared on the streets.

”Feeding, and then picking up a wandering magician.”

Three months of adaptation to life in another world, followed by the formal beginning of a busy existence.

It was hard to tell whether Sister Ruo really knew something, or if all of it was just a coincidence, but anyway, Sister Ruo indeed changed his original destiny.

An outsider without a Character Card, born in District F, his ending was predictable.

Forget it, no need to dwell on it, what can be certain now is that the information about his arrival must be related to the Tarot Master Du Yuyi; he would go directly to her the day after tomorrow.

In any case, next Monday’s magic show was set; it would be a solo scene drama centered on invisibility, aiming to acquire a derivative entry related to invisibility.

It wasn’t to find Sister Ruo, but rather Jiang Shu had found that he indeed seemed to need a stealth ability.

Uh, the last time he sneaked around in the mechanic disciple’s base... that innovative explosive soldier stealth...

If it hadn’t been for that, he might have been able to slip in unnoticed and catch Clo.

Ever since that day he returned, he had been contemplating such magic, but no matter how he thought about it, he found it hard to imagine a way to make himself completely ”disappear.”

Merely being invisible to the eye was clearly not enough, since the thermal imaging function of the prosthetic eye could easily reveal him.

No, that’s not right.

If it’s just body temperature...

”Xiao Ding, can you cover my body with a low-temperature flame to shield my body temperature?” Jiang Shu asked Tablet Spirit Xiao Ding.

Ding: The temperature of the blue flames can be lower than body temperature, so theoretically, it can be done.

He could also directly regain control of the derivative entry, Flame Spirit, which would grant him immunity to fire damage, but as before, the Flame Spirit’s consumption was too high, too much for him to use for extended periods by himself.

This was probably a restriction of the Deception entry, but once the derivative entry was transferred to the Tablet Spirit, that problem could be perfectly solved.

”Let’s try it,” Jiang Shu ordered, then pointed at Xiao Yi, ”Right, test it on that first.”

Yi: ???

Yi: Although not a person, still a true dog!

Without a second thought, Xiao Ding waved a hand, tossing a blue fireball towards Xiao Yi, sending it scurrying around the room in terror.

”It didn’t catch fire,” Jiang Shu observed as the fireball hit the office desk’s paper without damaging it.

The ignition point of ordinary white paper was over a hundred degrees Celsius, so the blue flame at a mere twenty-something degrees was far from enough to burn it.

”Try it on my hand,” Jiang Shu continued to instruct.

Following Jiang Shu’s command, a blue flame appeared in his palm, looking very mystical.

Well, since the temperature of the flame was lower than his body temperature, the flame actually felt cool to the touch.

Letting the flame burn on his hand for a while, Jiang Shu didn’t feel any discomfort and then ordered Xiao Ding to cover his entire body with the flame.

Except for his face.

Xiao Ding nodded, and flames quickly spread over Jiang Shu’s body at a visibly fast rate, engulfing him in a figure of fire.

Although he was called a fireman, he now only felt as though he were in an air-conditioned room and very comfortable.

”Xiao Jia, measure the temperature,” Jiang Shu called to Tablet Spirit Xiao Jia.

Jia: Areas enveloped by the flame are showing as room temperature; as long as he can achieve complete optical invisibility, he could fool the majority of monitoring systems and thermal imagers.

Jia: The imagery on the infrared receptors appears normal; it can deceive infrared sensors.

”Hmm,” Jiang Shu nodded to show his understanding. He used paper to build a small house’s framework on the office desk, then fitted a window on the frame using the mirror paper he had last picked up.

Standing in front of the ”window,” he looked in, imagining everything that could be seen inside the room.

”The data still isn’t sufficient; I need to visit the variety show’s live recording in the next two days,” Jiang Shu abandoned the idea of continuing to visualize in his head.

Hmm, should call Kirie, the station will be closed on the weekend, she should be free, right?

——

August 18th, Saturday.

Tired, watching videos.

——

Sunday.

Jiang Shu stood in front of the window, watching the gloomy sky outside.

The sound of rain started to rise.

Countless rain threads merged, falling like a volley of arrows, turning puddles into undulating, rash-like patterns.

”It suddenly started to rain,” Jiang Shu murmured.

If the rain continued with this intensity, it would probably be rainy all week.

And if the heat came with the rain...

Could the Seventh District of Lonely City have a monsoon climate?

Combining the recent temperatures, it could be subtropical or temperate.

Hua Country... or the east coast of Lighthouse Country?

A world climate geographical map appeared in Jiang Shu’s mind but was promptly erased completely.

The geography of this world might be entirely different from the original; so little evidence was not enough to make any conclusions.

Checking the time, it was almost the moment to meet with Tarot Master Du Yuyi, so Jiang Shu turned and went downstairs to catch an unmanned taxi to District F.

Du Yuyi’s Tarot Meeting was hidden deep in a street’s building, very secluded; through a small door, up a flight of stairs, and at the very end of the second-floor corridor was her Tarot Meeting office.

It was as if hiding her workplace like this was necessary to maintain a sense of prestige.
