The Daily Life Of A Cyberpunk Magician

Chapter 216 - 163 Magic: Spirit Monster_3
Chapter 216: Chapter 163 Magic: Spirit Monster_3The audience pointed to the rope hanging in the air and laughed, ”Of course not, I will tie it tight.”

He walked over, threaded one end of the rope through a metal ring on the box, and then clamped it in place. All this was pre-designed, so it fit perfectly.

”Very good, now pull the other end of the rope. Yes, you can lift the glass box now,” Jiang Shu continued.

The rope passed through a fixed pulley above, and the audience, following Jiang Shu’s instructions, hoisted the glass cabinet high into the air.

”Excellent, you can hook the other end here,” Jiang Shu walked to a corner of the stage where there was another circular hook.

The audience did as instructed.

”Excellent, thank you for your help, you can go down now,” Jiang Shu nodded to the audience.

”Next, I will throw out two frisbees. Please, the audience who catches the frisbees, stand up,” Jiang Shu threw the frisbees one after another, choosing two different directions, one left and one right.

Subsequently, the audience who caught the frisbees stood up, a man and a woman, and they both looked at Jiang Shu.

Jiang Shu looked at the woman who caught the frisbee first and asked seriously, ”First, we need to confirm one thing, that is, we absolutely haven’t colluded beforehand, right? You definitely can’t be my plant, right?”

”Right,” the woman nodded without hesitation.

”Very good,” Jiang Shu nodded as well, ”Now, name any playing card, choose any one from the 52, um, excluding the jokers.”

”Nine of Diamonds,” the woman answered.

”Very good,” Jiang Shu gestured for her to sit, ”Please sit.”

He then looked towards the other man, ”Likewise...”

Jiang Shu paused for a moment, then continued at a quicker pace than before, ”You’re also not my plant, right?”

”Mm,” the man nodded.

”Very good,” Jiang Shu said satisfied, ”Now pick a number, any number between one and fifty-two.”

”27,” the man stated his choice.

”A good choice,” Jiang Shu smiled. He also gestured for the man to sit down, then while speaking, he threw another frisbee, ”Now, the lucky one who catches this frisbee, please come on stage to help me complete this magic. We need this magic to verify whether the Spirit Monster really exists.”

Similarly, an audience member caught the frisbee and came on stage.

”Now...” Jiang Shu paused again, pointing to the glass box above, ”you can bring it down and then open the glass cabinet.”

The audience did as instructed.

”Very good, next I need you to count the cards, count out the 27th card of this deck,” Jiang Shu continued, ”Once that thing really happens, the audience below will definitely suspect you are my plant, like you now brought a...”

”Nine of Diamonds onto the stage, sneakily switching it in while counting the cards,” Jiang Shu shrugged, ”Believe me, what I can do, you can do too; after all, it’s all science.”

”So, I’ve prepared this for you,” he took out something resembling a claw machine grabber and a calculator-like button surface, ”Now what you need to do is quite simple, attach the mechanical hand at the top of the glass cabinet, and then enter 27 on this. Next, let’s wait together for it to count out the 27th card.”

”Mhm,” the male audience member took the device Jiang Shu handed over, knowing roughly what would happen next, but still couldn’t help trembling inside.

Really...

Would the 27th card really be the Nine of Diamonds?

The audience below also held their breath; from the beginning Jiang Shu had not touched the deck at all, every operation was completed by an audience member, every choice was made by an audience member.

So...

Could it really be so?

A nervous feeling sprouted in every audience member’s heart...

Attach the mechanical hand, press ”27”.

The mechanical hand activated, its structure was simple, and all the audience could see clearly, it was impossible for it to be rigged.

It slowly moved over the top of the deck, slowly counting the cards.

One, two, three...

Twenty-five, twenty-six...

Twenty-seven.

Twenty-seven!

Everyone tensed up.

But the mechanical hand obviously didn’t have such nervous thoughts, it just steadily pinched the card and removed it from the glass cabinet.

The card laid in its palm, back facing up.

”Now, turn it over,” Jiang Shu said, his voice as steady as the mechanical hand, ”Show it to everyone.”

But the male audience member wanted to step forward and take the card, but he was stopped by Jiang Shu.

”Not you, you also can’t touch the playing card,” Jiang Shu pulled him to his side.

Instead, the mechanical hand turned the playing card over, displaying its face to everyone.

Nine of Diamonds!

The face of the card was simple, only a single large diamond, with the number ”9” dazzlingly bright at its four corners.

”It actually worked!”

”If I’m not mistaken, he hadn’t touched the deck at all just now, right?”

”Absolutely not! Even the audience didn’t touch it.”

”Then he is...”

”This is prediction, definitely a prediction!”

”Some even unraveled his Past Life and Present Life on the internet, it sounded quite plausible, but what’s the use! Jiang Shu can just predict!”

”How is this even possible?”

And when the audience returned to their senses, Jiang Shu had already taken out the remaining playing cards, he made a card-fanning gesture, then displayed the faces to everyone.

”This deck is random, now I can hand it to this audience member for inspection, there is no Nine of Diamonds in it, right?” Jiang Shu then handed the playing cards to the male audience member next to him.

The man looked through them one by one, nodding confidently, ”There is no Nine of Diamonds here!”

Meanwhile, his gaze towards Jiang Shu was filled with disbelief.

This kind of magic performance without any physical contact...

How on earth did this Magician manage to do it?

Could he really...

”Mhm,” Jiang Shu nodded, appearing to perceive the doubts in the audience’s hearts, ”This is what it told me before the performance, and this...”

”This is just one of its many abilities.”

”Next...”

”Is the time to witness a miracle!”

—

At this time, Su Xiaoou in the audience was utterly dumbfounded.

What just happened?

Jiang Shu didn’t touch the cards, right?

With the glass cabinet, there’s no way to use threads, right?

He said there were no plants, so there must be no plants, right?

But how is this possible!

She isn’t like ordinary people, she learned magic for a while!

This...

Asking her to solve this?

Be real!

Her mood right now is pretty much like doing a math test, what should be a simple first question...

Is ridiculously hard!

Could what she learned be fake?!
