The Daily Life Of A Cyberpunk Magician

Chapter 213 - 162 Preparation Before the Magic Show_2
Chapter 213: Chapter 162 Preparation Before the Magic Show_2B: Although the likelihood is small, he’s still scared.

Jiang Shu’s gaze faltered, and just as he was about to reprimand Xiao Yi, he changed his mind and said sullenly, ”Say whatever you want.”

C: Let’s just go see for ourselves and find out.

D: Exactly, no matter what the truth is, we’ll stand by you because you share our surname after all.

Xiao Ding’s face was filled with a sense of entitlement, and the other three Tablet Spirits also nodded their heads in convincing agreement.

”Damn you,” laughed Jiang Shu, unable to help but smile at Xiao Ding’s words, before sending it flying with a slap.

He thought for a moment, then as if realization dawned on him, he said, ”Sister Ruo wouldn’t want to harm me. If she did, I should have seen her in that dream from my past life. In this life, she has had plenty of natural opportunities to use me without having to wait so long or put so much effort into deceiving me.”

Besides, even if Liu Tingruo knew everything, she would be after the Tablet Spirits with their Derivative Entries, which means nothing at all.

Right now, he could recall the Tablet Spirits’ Derivative Entries with a single thought. The relationship between a magician and his assistant had already been defined by the Main Brain.

He is the master, and the Tablet Spirits are subordinate—their entire existence is based on him.

”As Sister Ruo’s guardian, I feel it’s my responsibility to know the truth,” Jiang Shu naturally found himself a legitimate reason.

A, B, C, and D nodded their heads in agreement, then in unison they asked: When do we leave?

”Wednesday,” decided Jiang Shu, but this time not out of fear, but because he wanted to be as prepared as possible.

”Anyway, if you want to know, then go ask her directly,” Jiang Shu said to the four Tablet Spirits, as well as to himself.

He had always been indecisive about matters involving Sister Ruo, but after thinking it through, he felt much better.

At this point, Jiang Shu suddenly froze. He remembered that night at the Special Prison, on the not-so-high rooftop...

Sister Ruo must have been just as indecisive, right?

If at that time he had not chosen to trust her unconditionally, if he had not let her make her own choice but had been more forceful in deciding for her...

She would have agreed, right? After all, that timid, damsel-in-distress version of Sister Ruo never existed.

”Damn, what a loss!” Jiang Shu realized what the crux of that trolley problem really was—what troubled Liu Tingruo was never the choice itself, but the person who could influence the choice...

Himself.

He frowned in deep thought for a while, his face showing a pained expression of regret as he muttered, ”A huge loss.”

Jiang Shu felt ashamed of his suspicions.

A, B, C, D: So shall we leave now?

”No, still Wednesday,” Jiang Shu shook his head, ”Let’s go research Baglas; I’ll hand over the data to Kirie tomorrow.”

A, B, C, D continued to nod their heads.

——

On Tuesday, Magician Jiang Shu’s comeback performance tickets at Black Currant Theater finally went on sale.

After nearly a week of promotion, Jiang Shu’s comeback performance tickets finally went on sale at noon on Tuesday.

Black Currant Theater had prepared five thousand tickets this time, with four thousand for the main hall and one thousand for the side hall. All five thousand tickets were sold out within two minutes and five seconds.

Following Monday’s invisibility magic show, Jiang Shu’s image in the hearts of Lonely City’s inhabitants became even more mysterious. No one knew how he had done it.

Now they were even more inclined to believe that Magician Jiang Shu relied on magic, because that was easier to explain.

However, it was clear that Jiang Shu had previously demonstrated his Mysterious Coefficient—0.5; although not low, it was far from the level of possessing magic.

It’s worth mentioning that starting from this performance, Black Currant Theater had also implemented a rule banning the filming function of Prosthetic Eyes and had spent a significant amount of money on a signal jamming device that was set up around the theater.

The reason was not the Mysticism factor that Jiang Shu thought of; Mei had thought of it earlier, and it was excessively simple.

Cash.

While Mei banned the audience from filming, she also created an account on Thunder Platform where she would post videos after each performance—reaping a huge traffic dividend.

The advertising revenue from that account in the future would be no small amount, which would also become pocket money for Jiang Shu.

Furthermore, Jiang Shu’s performances were naturally in the main hall, and the side hall could only watch the broadcast on screen. The prohibition against recording also made it very easy to sell out tickets for the side hall.

And it wasn’t much cheaper than the main hall, after all, with four thousand seats in the main hall, there weren’t that many from which one could clearly see Jiang Shu performing on stage. Many audience members were essentially watching live broadcasts on screens in various areas.

At this moment, Sister Mei once again demonstrated her business acumen. After consulting Jiang Shu’s opinion, she was ready to sell telescopes to the audience after they entered...

Jiang Shu had already stopped bothering to calculate how much profit this performance would bring in. In any case, it would be a lot, a whole lot.

In the laboratory.

”Tomorrow’s magic show will make a lot of money.” Jiang Shu tapped on the table in front of Kirie, ”Is there something you want? Just name it.”

Then he added, ”This is just a little gift from me to you, as part of the magic troupe, you’re entitled to a share of the profits.”

”Really?” Kirie’s eyes sparkled, and she subconsciously began to calculate the profit from tomorrow’s magic performance in her head, as well as Jiang Shu’s share, and then her own share...

Just a rough calculation was enough to make her want to shout with excitement.

It was enough to fund several years’ worth of her research. If this money came in, she could start researching mecha under the police department’s name!

A proud holder of doctorates in mecha, blasting, and mechanical engineering, she had had more than enough of doing experiments every day in here!

Speaking of which, she owed Jiang Shu a lot of thanks for finding her something to do, otherwise, her daily life would still be as boring as ever.

Moreover, when she watched Jiang Shu’s performances and saw the rampant ”Immortal Technique” and ”Magic” rhetoric online, she felt a great sense of accomplishment.

Though she still wasn’t clear whether Jiang Shu used magic or the props she had created to perform the magic.

But!

During the rehearsals with Jiang Shu, she had learned a lot, and after repeated deliberations, she discovered that she could achieve the same magical effects with those props!

Well, sort of.

That meant, Kirie Tsukimiya, with her mortal flesh, had matched the gods.

But...

She sneakily glanced at Jiang Shu, who still had that harmless smile on his face.

As a henchperson, should she really be taking money?

Was this a test?

”I...I just helped you with some small favors.” Kirie quickly changed her tune, ”It’s all fine. I don’t need a gift or a share of the profits.”

”Hmm?” Jiang Shu glanced at the screen of the little armor, which was glaringly green.

What exactly was this woman afraid of?

Once he got reliable mind reading abilities, he definitely planned to peel back the layers of her heart and take a look.

Inside, Jiang Shu was filled with resignation, but he understood that Kirie definitely wanted a share of the profits. So he said, ”How about this, I will donate the money to the police department for a good cause. If you need it, you can take it yourself. I’m not negotiating with you; I’ve already decided.”

”Okay...” Kirie nodded, her face giving away no particular emotion.

But Jiang Shu glanced at the little armor again, where a large block of red suddenly appeared.

Heh, another case of saying no while meaning yes.

”Let’s take a break before continuing with the experiment.” Jiang Shu stretched, looked at the cards and glass cabinet in front of him, and said to Kirie, ”We still have a day and a half. No rush.”

”But don’t you need to rehearse?” Kirie asked quizzically, as Jiang Shu always set aside a whole day for continuous rehearsals.

”I can rehearse spirit magic in my mind,” Jiang Shu said with a confident smile. Spirit magic was something he had mastered quite flexibly.

What he was set to perform tomorrow was exactly a set of spirit magic.

Previously, due to the special nature of the Baglas Effect, he didn’t plan to perform much else, but now he had thought of a great solution.

At least...

It would lead residents of Lonely City to imagine him as Professor X.

Jiang Shu thought back on what Professor X had done, and then about what he was going to perform, and he could not help but shake his head in resignation.

Uh, that might be a bit exaggerated, influencing the whole of Lonely City with just a magic performance?

Only a god could do that, right?
