The Daily Life Of A Cyberpunk Magician

Chapter 233 - 169 Good Morning_2
Chapter 233: Chapter 169 Good Morning_2”Xiao Ba, Xiao Wu, destroy all his electronic devices and storage devices,” Liu Tingruo commanded coldly, pointing at Diller who lay on the ground.

Xiao Ba and Xiao Wu flew over and scanned Diller from head to toe with a scanner, then they came to a halt.

A moment later, although Jiang Shu didn’t understand what had happened, he felt Sister Ruo tug his hand forward.

It was time to leave.

——

Deep in the night, at the high-speed train station.

The waiting hall was not crowded at this hour, and though it wasn’t completely quiet, it certainly wasn’t noisy either.

Jiang Shu and Liu Tingruo sat in a corner, both wearing duckbill caps and bowing their heads slightly, their faces indiscernible.

”Hey, did you see everything I just said to Diller?” Liu Tingruo suddenly asked Jiang Shu out of nowhere, with a bit of a harsh tone.

”Yeah, what else?” Jiang Shu replied subconsciously.

”...” Liu Tingruo crossed her arms and moved a seat away, leaning against the railing on the far side from Jiang Shu, ”Including the part where I threatened Diller?”

”Yes.” Jiang Shu nodded, moving closer to look up at Sister Ruo’s face.

A faint blush tinged her pale, delicate face, the embarrassment nearly palpable.

This feeling...

It was a bit like having one’s diary read.

Liu Tingruo stretched out her hand and pushed Jiang Shu’s face away forcefully, wanting his irritating face far from her, ”Don’t come closer, let me cool down for a moment.”

She thought back to that moment, to the prospect of intimidatingly blowing smoke rings which now suddenly seemed somewhat ridiculous.

The thought of having done such a thing in front of Jiang Shu made her feel like an ostensibly ferocious kitten guarding its food.

Now, upon reflection, it was quite embarrassing.

”I haven’t even started with you,” Jiang Shu said, drawing back with a hint of annoyance in his voice, ”smoking again, and smoking just for show...”

”You’re really brave,” he knocked on Sister Ruo’s head, which made a clear, resonant sound.

”Tch.” Liu Tingruo snorted disdainfully, suddenly grabbing Jiang Shu’s hand with a swift counter-move, ”Straighten up your attitude. From now on, I’m going to be supporting you again. Is this how you treat your benefactor?”

Jiang Shu just kept his gaze on her, while gripping her hand in return.

Sister Ruo’s fingers were tender as young shoots, slender in appearance, but surprisingly fleshy to the grasp.

Soft to the touch, yet somewhat cold.

Eventually, Liu Tingruo conceded defeat. She turned her face away from Jiang Shu, pulling her hand back, and said in a huff, ”No more smoking after this.”

”Hmm.” Jiang Shu turned his head back, satisfied. Remembering their destination, he asked with curiosity, ”Why do you want to go to the First District?”

They had bought tickets for the First District, which was very far from here.

”To see Sky Tower,” Liu Tingruo answered without hesitation, ”I’ve wanted to go up there for a long time.”

”Sky Tower,” Jiang Shu repeated slowly. He had heard about the place from Su Xiaoou, ”The one where they store cremated remains?”

Uh...

On hearing that, he suddenly felt the trip was a bit ominous.

”Yes, the top of the tower does indeed hold beads made from cremated remains,” Liu Tingruo glanced at him, ”but that’s not the point.”

”What is the point then?”

”It’s very tall, very, very tall. From the top, you can see the scenery outside the city,” Liu Tingruo spoke with stars in her eyes, her longing clearly spilling out.

”What’s beyond the city?” Jiang Shu asked.

”There are mountains, seas, lots of things,” Liu Tingruo answered, ”You’ll understand once you’re at the top.”

”Yeah, we’ll do it together,” Jiang Shu nodded, and then continued, ”After that, do we just find a place to live in the First District on the fly?”

”Probably,” Liu Tingruo sounded uncertain, then after some thought added, ”My savings should be enough for us to buy a house there.”

But she quickly revised, ”No, that’s not right. I still want to see so many places. We can buy an RV, I’ll modify it, and then we can tour around Lonely City.”

”Okay, I’m in. Your call,” Jiang Shu smiled.

He could sense that Liu Tingruo herself didn’t really know what she wanted to do.

Like a whim of youthful enthusiasm, everything was impromptu with no plans for the future.

If there was one definite plan, it was probably just to take him along.

”Are you sure we’ll have enough money?” Liu Tingruo glanced at her account balance, suddenly becoming a bit annoyed, ”I spent too carelessly before, didn’t save much.”

”Then I’ll go perform on the streets to support you,” Jiang Shu joked, ”and besides, my savings...”

”No way,” Liu Tingruo hurriedly interrupted him, ”magic would expose us, plus you’ve already promised me you wouldn’t perform anymore.”

”And no variety shows either,” she added.

”The audience for a magic performance is selected randomly, and the routine is fixed, it’s just a show,” Jiang Shu suddenly spoke up, his words seeming out of the blue, ”As for variety shows, don’t worry, I won’t stoop to their level.”

”Uh-huh...” Liu Tingruo glanced at him, then hummed, ”Got it.”

Hearing Liu Tingruo bring up this matter again, especially mentioning variety shows, Jiang Shu naturally understood why he had been constantly scolded.

”Actually, we can be very frugal,” Jiang Shu suddenly said.

Liu Tingruo looked at him with some curiosity in her eyes.

”We could just have a little Jiang first,” Jiang Shu said seriously, ”then he can eat from one side, I’ll eat from the other. One person gets full, the whole family isn’t hungry.”

”Left side? Right side?” Liu Tingruo was taken aback, she pondered the deeper meaning of Jiang Shu’s words, then suddenly clenched her fist and waved it in front of Jiang Shu, ”Are you asking for a death wish?”

”I wouldn’t dare, I wouldn’t dare,” Jiang Shu sat up straight, placing his hands on his thighs, looking very obedient, daring not to spout any more nonsense.

”Let’s go, our train is arriving.” Jiang Shu pointed to the checking information on the screen, their train was set to depart in fifteen minutes.

He naturally took Liu Tingruo’s hand, leading her towards the designated check-in gate.

Lonely City’s high-speed train station was fully automated, all processes were handled by machines, and robots were used throughout the lobby and other areas to provide a variety of services.

Checking tickets, walking through the corridor, going up to the third-floor outdoor waiting area, locating the appropriate train and seats, stowing luggage, taking a seat.

Everything was orderly.

Silently boarding the flight bound for unknown destinations.

The train hadn’t started yet, the night deepening.

Jiang Shu gazed out the window, both of them in a rare moment of silence.

He saw her reflection on the glass window, the distant lights blending with her eyes and glowing brightly.

He saw her lips part slightly, but the roaring whistle of a passing train outside drowned out all the faint noises.

Logically, setting off into such an unknown journey together, they should get to know each other better. Jiang Shu had many questions about Sister Ruo, and he knew she felt the same about him, but neither of them asked, just held onto each other’s hands even tighter.

---

The bed creaked slightly.

Hearing this sound, Jiang Shu knew that Sister Ruo was waking up.

He looked over to the bed next to him where Tuantuan was blended into the covers, ”It’s time to get up.”

Tuantuan shook back and forth as a sign of refusal.

”It’s already past ten,” Jiang Shu continued.

Another shake.

”Weren’t we planning to go to the Sky Tower? We have tickets for noon.” Jiang Shu said helplessly, ”We’ll be late if we don’t head out now.”

Yet another shake.

”Are you hungry?” Jiang Shu decided to try a different approach.

Tuantuan paused, as if pondering the question.

”I made breakfast, if you don’t come out I’ll finish it all,” Jiang Shu then said.

The covers were thrown back, Sister Ruo sat up groggily, rubbed her eyes, and looked towards Jiang Shu.

Jiang Shu waved at her, ”Good morning.”

”Good morning,” she responded, then looked at his hands, ”Where’s my breakfast?”

”Just kidding, how can we cook here?” Jiang Shu spread his hands out.

They were in a regular double room of a hotel, naturally, there was no space for him to showcase his culinary skills.

”Tch,” Liu Tingruo snorted, then lay flat back down, merging with her covers again.

”But the breakfast service that comes with the hotel is not bad,” Jiang Shu assured, ”I think it’s quite decent.”

”Really?” Tuantuan’s eyes perked up.

”Really, really, get up now.”
