The Daily Life Of A Cyberpunk Magician

Chapter 228 - 168 Independent Plan_2
Chapter 228: Chapter 168 Independent Plan_2Is he sick?

Jiang Shu patted the small mecha on his shoulder and pointed to the mecha in the testing field for it to take a picture and record.

Then he quickly caught up with the gradually departing Liu Tingruo, but his mind didn’t stop there; instead, he continued to ponder the question he had just considered.

What exactly was the purpose of creating this mecha?

Energy Shield...

Fang Yue?

Jiang Shu suddenly froze.

Right, the biggest drawback of this kind of mecha was its defense, and previously, Fang Yue had demonstrated a similar ability to the energy shield.

That is to say, the Key Master indeed could create such an energy shield.

If he could find the internal logic, perhaps he could reproduce such a shield; with the shield in place, other issues like power transmission weren’t significant.

The kind of giant robots seen in movies might actually become a reality in Lonely City.

Looking at it this way, the benefits of developing this mecha must be sufficient for the Dick Family to overlook the risks involved.

That is to say, they must have already mastered defensive measures that could effectively resist firepower, and these defensive measures...

Considering the timing, were very likely related to the Key Master.

Was it led by Liu Tingruo?

No, from Liu Tingruo’s recent words and thoughts, it could be concluded that she was mainly responsible for artificial intelligence, with the mecha being just an auxiliary help.

Or perhaps...

The use of artificial intelligence to control the mecha?

A flurry of ideas suddenly emerged in Jiang Shu’s mind, but he also knew that he couldn’t get the answers now.

At the end of the corridor, Liu Tingruo stood in front of a door, and the android robot beside her opened it; light from inside the room spilled out, covering them both.

Jiang Shu quickly walked over, and while the door was still open, he carefully slipped inside.

Liu Tingruo’s room was not large, but her refrigerator was quite big; a double-door fridge, Jiang Shu estimated its volume, finding it capable of holding three to four people.

As soon as she entered the room, near the entrance, Liu Tingruo kicked off her slippers and walked barefoot towards the sofa, where she laid down immediately.

”Sort out the things and put what needs to be refrigerated in the fridge; the rest should be categorized and kept in the cabinet,” Liu Tingruo told the robot, ”and make me a glass of orange juice.”

”Okay, master.” The android robot nodded and started working following Liu Tingruo’s instructions. It had only three fingers on each hand but was highly flexible and could perform most tasks.

”Tablet Eight, Tablet Five,” Liu Tingruo continued to call out.

Tablet Eight and Tablet Five then flew out of the charging pad in the bedroom and headed straight towards her, connecting to her wristwatch and releasing a simulated light screen the size of a television.

The moment Tablet Eight and Tablet Five appeared, Jiang Shu held his breath involuntarily, staying motionless, afraid they might have some advanced technology that could detect him in this state.

Although Alpha, Beta, Gamma, and Delta had assured him with certainty before coming that he would not be detected in this state.

They had already used all common market detection devices to scan him and found no trace of his presence.

In other words, he was essentially in a nearly absolute state of invisibility, as long as he didn’t make a sound, he would likely be safe.

He looked at Liu Tingruo sitting in the living room, hesitated a bit, but decided to go over to check the situation.

To obtain more information, he had to take some risks.

However...

Jiang Shu looked at Alpha, Beta, Gamma, and Delta on his shoulder, then gestured towards the room with his mouth and gestured, asking: Should we go in and take a look?

The Tablet Spirits all nodded in unison.

Beta: Not venturing into the tiger’s den, how can one obtain the tiger’s cub!

Jiang Shu nodded too but then looked at Beta with a strange gaze again.

It was a perfectly normal idiom and applicable to the current situation, but somehow, hearing these words from this small rebel screen felt odd.

Placing the cards at his feet, Jiang Shu used the Paper Card Technique to lift himself up and then slowly moved towards the living room.

Previously, when rescuing Kirie, he had experimented with using both ”Shadow Cutting” and ”Paper Card Technique” at the same time and knew well how exaggerated the mana consumption was when using two Derivative Entries at once; that was why he did not float like this across the lawn.

The mana cost was really too high.

Although Invisibility itself did not consume mana, the consumption was significant when combined with the Paper Card Technique.

Moreover, the Invisibility Technique had an inherent limitation.

When the entry was on him, he could make himself and the Tablet Spirit invisible, but if it was placed on the Tablet Spirit, they could not make him invisible.

This was probably because the Tablet Spirit was considered his possession, and he was a person, not a thing.

Jiang Shu slowly moved to the back of Sister Liu’s sofa, following her gaze towards the Simulated Light Screen.

It was full of experimental data he did not understand.

He glanced at Mecha, and Mecha immediately grasped the idea and copied all the data.

Aside from the experimental data, as he scanned downwards, he could even see that the first button of Sister Liu’s white lab coat was undone; hence, he lost interest in the experimental data.

”Ding Ding—” Liu Tingruo’s wristwatch made a sound, and a message popped up.

Councilman Dick: Are you in the room?

Liu Tingruo hesitated for a moment, swiped away the message, and couldn’t be bothered to reply.

But the councilman kept sending messages.

Councilman Dick: Someone told me you’re back, I have something to ask you.

”Ah,” Liu Tingruo sighed and could only type in reply: I’ll come to you later.

Councilman Dick: No need, I’m already at the door, open up.

”Huh?” Liu Tingruo immediately stood up, hesitated for a moment, patted her white lab coat, and buttoned up the topmost button, covering her neckline securely.

She looked at her lower half, touched her chin, turned down the air conditioning, and ran into the bedroom to put on a pair of long pants.

After all that, Liu Tingruo confidently opened the door and took out an automatic shoe cover dispenser from the shoe cabinet and tossed it on the floor.

”Councilwoman Liu Tingruo.” The man at the door stepped in, stepped into the dispenser to wear shoe covers, and continued, ”Regarding the power issues of Mecha ’Dick Hawk’...”

”I will handle it,” Liu Tingruo spoke coldly; she hardly looked at the man in front of her and walked back to the living room, casually saying, ”If this is all you came for, Councilman Dick, please leave.”

”Of course, it’s not just that.” Councilman Dick walked into the living room.

Jiang Shu looked at his face, carefully trying to distinguish.

This was not Dick Tang; it must be someone else from their family.

He looked quite young, about twenty-three or twenty-four, but his curved hawk nose gave him a very sinister look.

And his gaze remained fixed on Sister Liu...

Jiang Shu mentally labeled him as ”no good.”

”Get to the point quickly, it’s already late, and I need to rest,” Liu Tingruo sat in the chair at the desk, looking at the man standing in the middle of the living room. She neither invited him to sit nor asked him to leave outright.

But the message in her words was quite clear to see off the guest.

However, the guy just conveniently sat down, looked deeply at Liu Tingruo’s face, and continued, ”Regarding the Android Robot experiment, I think we can increase the number of test subjects; the progress is too slow as it is. You know, both the Mecha and the ’Prophet’ APP are about to enter experimental stages, but there’s no movement from the Android side.”

”I know my project well,” Liu Tingruo just shook her head, ”That is not within your authority.”

”No, you misunderstand me.” Councilman Dick chuckled lightly as he extended a finger and shook it, ”It’s been nearly half a year, our family is no longer willing to invest money into this ’Android Robot’ project. They don’t believe something that the Three Major Groups couldn’t achieve can be done by Councilwoman Liu Tingruo alone.”

”Are you doubting my ability?” Liu Tingruo’s tone chilled.

”No, I’m well aware that you’ve achieved in the field of Android Robots something that the Three Major Groups have not.” Councilman Dick chuckled, ”But as you know, the real decision-makers in our family aren’t me, nor Chief Tang.”

”So what are you really saying?” Liu Tingruo was tired of going around in circles.

”Simply put, stop the ’Android Robot’ project and shift your focus to the research of new Mecha and Prosthetic Eyes,” Councilman Dick squinted his narrow eyes, ”We need to have enough power by the end of this year because next year...”

He paused, ”Next year, the Fifth District must become independent.”
