“these are all the treasures that japan looted from our country back then, and now they’ve returned to their rightful owners,” tang rui said as he looked at a box of gold.

“these are all gold? how much is there?” one of the frogman soldiers nearby asked in astonishment.

“who knows, but there are at least several tens of tons,” tang rui replied, then opened another large box.

inside, there was also something shiny, but they weren’t gold bars; they were buddha statues made of pure gold.

hmm.

there were also a bunch of inscriptions on them that he couldn’t understand.

“this was stolen from tibetan monasteries,” tang rui deducted upon looking at the thai inscriptions on them.

the others had no objections.

in the worst case, they could melt them down later.

next, everyone started moving the treasure. the primary means of transport were not the frogmen but several robots.

they just needed to carry the boxes to the water’s edge and toss them into the water.

thanks to japanese efforts to protect the treasure with proper sealing and handling, they didn’t have to do much.

all they had to do was to transport the boxes.

even so, it took them more than four hours to move all the items from the inner space.

once everything was moved out, it was all placed on tang rui’s yacht, and no one was guarding it.

when tang rui came back up from below, he found that he wasn’t in the mood to open the boxes. thus, he went to bed directly.

the next day, tang rui had the fleet move all the boxes onto the aircraft carrier, and then they started inventorying the items inside.

they spent an entire day working on it.

the items were categorized.

there were 68 tons of gold alone, and 115 pieces of antiques, including porcelain, bronze, calligraphy, and paintings, among other various types of antiques.

however, as for what the scrolls and paintings contained specifically, it was still a mystery—they didn’t want to risk damaging them by breaking the sealed packaging.

also present were precious items like jade, jadeite, and jewelry, which were all high-quality items, considering that they were picked by the navy from a pile of treasures.

among them was a piece of sheep fat white jade engraved by lutzigang, which tang rui liked very much.

he pocketed it directly, though no one made any comments about it.

tang rui also asked li shuyao if there was anything she liked, but she shook her head. she didn’t have as thick a skin as tang rui.

although she was quite interested in one of the crowns, it was a cultural relic, and she knew she couldn’t take it.

in the evening, the carrier fleet insisted on treating tang rui to dinner.

there was no way around it.

this naval mission was a big hit.

the gold, when converted to currency, would be used for military funding.

what?

you’re saying the cultural relics department disagrees?

were they looking down on our naval fleet?

how about putting on a military parade at sea? how does that sound?

the naval budget could have the lion’s share, and the carrier fleet could have the lion’s share of the naval budget.

this haul wasn’t that bad after all.

as for the remaining antiques, there wasn’t much to say. they would definitely be sent to a museum.

as the biggest contributor, tang rui received extremely warm hospitality. it was a completely different attitude from when he first arrived.

he was being taken very seriously.

but for a naval carrier fleet, as long as they fulfilled their assigned mission, they didn’t need to be too enthusiastic. the warm reception was mainly for tang rui’s sake.

after all, his status in the air force was the most significant. in the navy, it wasn’t so much about status.

now, things were different.

he had gone on vacation, managing to find a shipwreck, where he managed to dig up treasure that japan had buried back then. this money was real.

adding his status to the mix, if the navy didn’t host him properly, it wouldn’t sit well with him.

after a hearty dinner, when it was only half-eaten, he collapsed.

there was no choice. the navy was really huge.

the next day, when he woke up around noon, his head was still buzzing.

in the following days, he had more new projects to work on.

he was going to participate in the carrier fleet’s training, which involved bombing fish.

he flew fighter jets with deep-sea bombs attached, waiting for sonar buoys to lock onto schools of fish.

“fishermen to fish pond, fishpond target spotted, please proceed to coordinates xxx.xx immediately and drop a deep-sea bomb.”

“fish pond to fisherman. coordinates xxx.xx received, dropping a deep-sea bomb.”

tang rui controlled the fighter jet, quickly arrived at the coordinates, and released a deep-sea bomb towards the fish below.

boom!

as the sea erupted with splashes.

the surrounding waters began to fill with fish, either floating lifelessly or simply stunned.

but that didn’t matter.

what mattered was that a supply ship came over and pulled up the fishing net to start catching the fish.

“precise hit, fish pond. the target has been eliminated, you can return.”

“affirmative. fish pond returning immediately.”

tang rui pulled the control stick, nimbly changed direction, and flew towards the carrier.

when he arrived over the flight deck, he lowered the landing gear and gently landed.

around noon, tang rui enjoyed a seafood feast.

it wasn’t that bad, though the fish he caught himself tasted different.

while tang rui was having a blast on the carrier, he had no idea that there was a frenzy on chinese social media.

the top trending news was:

“during an exercise, the navy carrier fleet uncovers treasures looted by japanese invaders in wwii: 82 pieces of first-class national treasures, 27 pieces of second-class national treasures, 68 tons of gold, 7 boxes of jade and jewelry.”

it was safe to say that the entire nation was in celebration, and people were very excited.

this news had taken the top spot on trending social media.

the second trending topic went as follows:

“upcoming event: wang banbi…”

let’s skip that one.

the third trending topic:

“domestic sixth-generation fighter confirmed: white emperor suborbital fighter, science fiction becomes reality.”

the fourth trending topic:

“crackdown continues: no mercy, another high-ranking official arrested.”

it could be said that, except for the second topic, all the other trending topics had some connection to tang rui. however, the specific details were unknown to the outside world.

within a few days, five days had passed.

tang rui spent a full ten days having fun here.

he had enjoyed everything there was to enjoy.

what he shouldn’t have played, he had played too.

the fish in the south china sea had been depleted quite a bit these days.

on this day, lin chao called him. things had settled down at the company, and tang rui had pretty much had his fun, so he decided it was time to go home.

li shuyao wanted to go back as well.

tang rui only spent time with her for the first couple of days.

in the remaining days, he went back and forth to the fleet every day, either flying fighter jets off the aircraft carrier or playing pai gow on the destroyer.

tang rui was having the time of his life.

left alone, li shuyao got so bored that she ended up watching tv dramas in her room. it was easy to imagine how she felt.

now that tang rui said that he’d be going back, she naturally had no objections.

so, tang rui piloted a fighter jet and took li shuyao home.

upon returning home, tang rui went straight to the office to handle some matters that had been stranded for the past few days.

“brother lin, how did the other side respond? how many trainers do they need?” he asked.

“there are four countries in total, and they need a minimum of four trainers. what do you think?” lin chao replied.

four people, huh?

after hearing this, tang rui began to ponder. the company didn’t have idle staff to spare. this time, the team sent abroad was the group of rich members that the middle east had brought in before the chinese new year.

they had purchased various items, including mechanical dogs and fire-fighting drones, but these things required training, which was a bit daunting.

should he have old feng over to lead the team?

no, that would be truly scary..
