tang rui had a dream.

in the dream, he learned to fly.

normally, when people were lifted off the ground in their dreams, they would instinctively wake up. even in dreams of flying, most of the time, there’d be something under their feet, like a flying sword.

but this time, tang rui had nothing beneath his feet; he was freely soaring in the sky.

interestingly, this type of flying was similar to swimming, requiring full-body movements.

when this surreal dream ended, tang rui woke up from his slumber.

he gazed at the cold, brightly lit medical pod screen, and his consciousness began to return.

deep therapy completed!

was that it?

didn’t feel like much.

but the next moment, his face changed drastically.

his stomach hurt.

it was a specific type of pain, the kind that felt like it could erupt like a volcano if he relaxed even a bit.

wide-eyed, tang rui forced himself out of the medical pod, and rushed to the bathroom.

rumble…

as if artillery was firing.

tang rui let out a deep breath.

he relaxed entirely.

phew!

but the next second, his expression changed again.

it was absolutely stinky.

he quickly activated all the bathroom’s ventilation systems.

whoosh…

with a series of whooshing sounds, the toilet’s ventilation and the wall vents opened up. the foul air was expelled, replaced by fresh air.

at this point, tang rui finally released his nose and began to breathe.

“i didn’t eat anything weird; why am 1 having diarrhea?”

his stomach was usually fine, seldom causing any gastrointestinal problems just the occasional upset stomach. what was going on today?

not only did he have diarrhea, but it also smelled terrible.

but when tang rui left the bathroom, he suddenly noticed some changes in his body.

how could he put it… well, he felt very comfortable.

the exhaustion from the past few days of overtime had completely disappeared.

“could it be because of the medical pod? did 1 have a detox during that diarrhea?”

tang rui pondered.

it seemed quite possible.

to know for sure, he would have to undergo therapy again next time.

sitting on the sofa, tang rui took out his phone and realized that more than two hours had passed.

no wonder he was getting a bit hungry.

“yang, where are we now?”

“we’ve passed hf; we’re heading to aq,” yang replied.

“let’s find a service area to stop and grab some food for dinner.”

“sure, there’s a service area about 15 kilometers ahead.”

soon, they arrived at the service area, a large one with a restaurant inside.

tang rui wasn’t going to settle for instant noodles when there was a restaurant available. he took yang to the restaurant and had dinner there.

afterward, they hit the road again. tang rui returned to the car, sat on the sofa, and watched a movie on the holographic projection screen. the holographic projection was also enhanced by the system and could be disguised as a touchscreen desktop when no one was around.

after more than an hour, just as the movie was reaching its exciting climax, the car suddenly stopped.

tang rui saw flashing police lights outside the window.

were the police stopping them on the highway?

were they checking for drunk driving or something else?

“tang, the police need us to step out and cooperate,” yang’s voice came through the communicator.

“cooperate? what are they checking?” tang rui asked curiously.

normally, the police didn’t stop military vehicles for checks.

“i’m not sure; they didn’t say. but it seems important; even the special forces are here,” yang replied.

“alright.”

tang rui turned off the holographic projection, got up, and walked out of the car. yang had already stepped out and was waiting at the door.

“i’m sorry for the inconvenience, gentlemen,” a police officer said to tang rui and yang.

“no problem. what do you need to check, and how can we cooperate?” tang rui had no issue cooperating with the police; he had done so before.

“we don’t need you to do anything. just wait here,” the police officer replied.

“okay, no problem.”

tang rui and yang stood nearby, and the police officer, holding a police dog, circled the rv.

woof woof woof…

when the police dog reached the front wheel of the rv, it suddenly started barking loudly.

this sight left everyone stunned.

the police officers, as well as yang and tang rui, all exchanged puzzled glances.

“could you please show us your soldier’s id or identification card?”

“sure.”

tang rui handed over his id card, and yang showed his soldier’s id. both were cooperative.

after examining the documents, one police officer began checking the authenticity of their military badges with a device.

soon, the results were in. their identities were verified; the soldier’s id was genuine, and the military badge was authentic.

“could you please open this part of the vehicle for us to inspect?” the police officer asked, returning their documents.

yang looked baffled, and tang rui’s expression turned somewhat strange.

“do you suspect that we’re hiding drugs?” tang rui asked, feeling a bit exasperated. he was starting to understand what was happening.

“i’m sorry, but we need to check this area,” the police officer replied with a serious tone.

“alright, but don’t be alarmed when you see what’s inside.”

tang rui sighed and took out his phone, opening the control interface.

he selected the weapons compartment on the left side of the vehicle and clicked to open it.

vroom!

the external armor of the rv opened, revealing a rocket launcher filled with missiles inside.

at that moment, the atmosphere became extremely tense.

everyone, including the police officers, was taken aback. they couldn’t believe that a motorhome had a rocket launcher.

“is there anything else you’d like to open?” tang rui asked, but nobody answered him.

well, since you wanted to see, then we’d show you.

“activate armed mode,” tang rui spoke into his phone.

click click click…

at that moment, various compartments of the rv simultaneously popped opened their hidden weapon compartments.

a phased-array radar rose from the roof, a laser weapon emerged, and two electromagnetic gatling guns popped up.

in the rear wheel wells, the rocket launchers extended. on the rear sides, anti-aircraft missiles appeared, and on the front sides, cruise missile launchers emerged.

at that moment, even the police officers were at a loss for words. yang was looking at tang rui with eyes full of disbelief..
