Becoming Their Guiding Spirit

# Chapter 47: How could Magallan’s guess be wrong again... The wilderness cooled down rather quickly.

Just when they were having the barbecue, it had been over ten degrees, but in the less than forty minutes since meeting and chatting with Ceobe, the temperature had plummeted to minus five. What’s more, it was still dropping. It was estimated that by midnight, it would fall to the day’s coldest point of minus twenty or even thirty degrees.

The overall environment of Terra was far too harsh. In his past life on Earth, Lucas Reeve had never heard of a place with such an absurd temperature difference.

”Hiss~ It’s getting a little cold...”

Since the tent was still being set up.

Jessica blew warm air to warm her slightly cold hands while rapidly rubbing her exposed calves, as she was wearing shorts.

”Mr. Reeve, are you cold?”

”Er... I’m sorry... I’m a soul, so... I don’t think I can feel cold.”

Jessica realized she had asked an incredibly stupid question.

As the three veterans skillfully set up the tent, Jessica looked with some concern at Ceobe, who was squatting in a corner not far away, hugging her knees like a puppy and silently watching them.

”Mr. Reeve, in this cold weather, Miss Ceobe’s clothes are so thin, they barely cover her. What if....”

Lucas Reeve: ”If she could freeze that easily, I imagine we would have never met her in the first place.”

Ten minutes later.

A tent, not too large, was set up.

There was only one tent.

It was a temporary spare.

After all, no one expected the transport vehicle to be completely wrecked.

”Alright~ Now here’s the problem....”

”There’s only one sleeping bag...”

Magallan pointed to a thick sleeping bag on the ground, and the group fell into thought. Both the sleeping bag and the tent belonged to Magallan; after all, as an explorer, how could she not have these essential items?

Based on Magallan’s years of experience, she estimated that if this trend continued, the temperature would likely drop to a rare minus 40 degrees. Even someone with a physique as strong as Franka’s couldn’t withstand such temperatures without a thick sleeping bag, to say nothing of...

Both Franka and Liskarm were in short skirts and black stockings...

Jessica was also in shorts, her calves bare.

Only Magallan was wearing a thick, custom-made Rhine Lab work suit, which even had an automatic insulation function. Although it was a bit ugly, making her look like a penguin, its comprehensive features were proving their worth at this critical moment.

”Why don’t... you sleep in the sleeping bag?”

Franka said.

”The three of us are mercenaries, and you’re our employer. Naturally, you should get the sleeping bag. Don’t worry, the three of us are combat personnel, after all. Our bodies are tough. Minus 40 degrees is a bit cold, but it’s not a huge problem.”

”Achoo!!”

Just as Franka finished speaking, Jessica sneezed beside her.

The three of them looked a little awkward.

”How about... the three of you squeeze in together?”

Magallan pointed at the small sleeping bag, saying with a lack of confidence.

”What about you?”

”Me? No need to worry. Our Rhine Lab work suits are all-purpose.”

*Clang, clang...*

Magallan tapped the chest of her work suit again, producing a metallic sound. Then, she activated a mechanism, and instantly, the entire suit inflated like an airbag, enveloping Magallan and transforming directly into a sleeping bag.

”What the hell?!!”

The three people and one soul were frozen in place, utterly dumbfounded.

”Hmph, hmph, hmph~ Advanced, isn’t it.”

Once Magallan lay down, she couldn’t be bothered to get up. The weather outside was getting colder and colder. Through her watch, which had a thermometer, she could see that it was already below minus 30 degrees outside, approaching the extreme low temperature of the wilderness. In such cold, ordinary outsiders could easily freeze to death without any preparation.

”So, we squeeze in?”

Franka looked at Liskarm, then at Jessica. The three of them slowly nodded.

—Three minutes later—

”Fat Fox, you need to lose some weight!!!”

”Liskarm, be a little more ’polite’ with your tail, don’t let it wander...”

”Where’s our little cutie Jessica?”

”Senior Franka!! I’m about to suffocate!!”

Because it was so cramped, Jessica’s entire head was forced into Franka’s ample bosom.

Franka blushed slightly.

”Jessica, whatever you do, don’t let that Lucas Reeve out...”

”Oh~”

As for Ceobe outside, they weren’t worried at all.

This Miss Ceobe had clearly lived here for a very long time. If she didn’t have some tricks to withstand the cold, she would have frozen to death long ago. Just as they had guessed, when the temperature dropped, Ceobe had already used her axe to dig a small hole in the ground big enough to fit herself, then covered the opening with a large pile of weeds. She curled up inside like a puppy, perfectly comfortable.

Having wandered this land alone for so many years, Ceobe had ten thousand ways to get a warm night’s sleep in the bitter cold.

Of course...

The three inside the tent were another story.

”Achoo!!”

”Achoo!!”

Jessica and Franka sneezed at the same time, while Liskarm silently endured the shower of spit beside them.

”That Miss Darwin got her forecast wrong again! What minus forty degrees!!”

Franka glanced at the thermometer on her watch.

Minus fifty-five degrees...

”Mmm~~ Mr. Reeve, I’m so cold. Can we switch bodies? I want to be in soul form to warm up. My feet are already frozen stiff...”

”Don’t!!”

Franka cried out.

She was pressed very, very close to Jessica right now. If they switched souls, wouldn’t she, a pure maiden, be at a huge disadvantage? Letting a grown man press up so close against her... even though he was using Jessica’s body, it just felt like a loss no matter how she thought about it...

”I think that’s a good idea.”

Liskarm raised her hand.

And beside them.

Magallan, with her super-fast sleep skills, was already sound asleep. The insulation function of her Rhine Lab work suit kept her perfectly warm even in this environment.

”Fat Fox, you could use your Thermite Blade. It’s twenty-five hundred degrees, you know. You could just hold it up next to us and act as a heater.”

”Get lost... You just want to see me completely drained, don’t you.”

Outside, the north wind howled.

Ceobe slept comfortably alone in the ’den’ she had made, and Magallan slept soundly too.

Only the three from Blacksteel Worldwide and one soul huddled together, body to body, trying to stay warm. Unable to sleep, the girls’ conversation topics grew more and more absurd.

”Jessica, your assets are a bit lacking. After the mission, Senior will recommend you some papaya milk.”

”Speaking of which, Liskarmy, isn’t your ’auntie’ visiting soon?”

”I really need to use the bathroom. Oh~ there’s no toilet in the middle of nowhere, and it’s so cold...”

”How come Blacksteel Worldwide doesn’t have any amazing handsome guys? It’s a shame, all the Operators stronger than me are burly and look strange... Sigh... I really want to fall in love... By the way, I heard that Director Saria from Rhine Lab is incredibly strong. I’d love to go spar with her.”

”Sigh... have you guys seen the news? The financial report shows that Raythean Industries next door made a trillion Lungmen Dollars in profit last year. Their chairman is the richest man in Columbia. Why couldn’t I be the daughter of the Raythean Industries boss... sigh...”

As they chatted, the outside temperature gradually warmed up after passing through the coldest hour. Eventually, the three people and one soul began to drift off to sleep.

Three of them were too cold to sleep properly.

The fourth, Lucas Reeve, couldn’t sleep at all because of their incessant chatter.
