Becoming Their Guiding Spirit

# Chapter 37: I was killed by a dump truck ”Hiss!!!”

Although Franka was already mentally prepared, she was still slightly startled when Lucas Reeve floated out of the necklace on Jessica’s neck.

As for Liskarm, who was completely confused, her shock was even greater. Her right hand had already instinctively reached for the pistol on her outer thigh, only to find that she wasn’t carrying it!

Seeing the ’slight’ shock of her two seniors, Franka and Liskarm.

Jessica quickly stood up and hurriedly explained.

”Seniors, please don’t be nervous. This is Mr. Reeve. He has been helping me and even trying to help me overcome my shyness and cowardice. Mr. Reeve is definitely a good person!!”

Jessica was worried that her two seniors would think he was a monster and, without a second thought, one would start shooting randomly with a gun and the other would start slashing with a sword. Although Mr. Reeve was a ghost... and according to normal logic, he shouldn’t be afraid of physical attacks, what if he got angry because of it and left her side?

”What the hell is that thing!”

It was mainly Lucas Reeve’s state that was too strange, beyond people’s comprehension. Even someone as steady as Liskarm, who hadn’t uttered a curse in ten years, now reflexively blurted out a short expletive.

Fortunately.

Jessica’s worries were unnecessary.

Neither of these seniors was someone who hadn’t seen the world.

Although they were shocked, it was just an instinctive reaction to the unknown. The dining room fell into a dead silence with Lucas Reeve’s appearance, with only the gurgling sound of the boiling hot pot.

Finally.

As Jessica waited nervously.

Franka’s eyes lit up. She shot up from her seat, slammed her hands on the dining table, her chest heaving, and said excitedly.

”Oh my!! So there really are ghosts in this world!!”

With that, she walked around the table to Jessica’s side and tried to touch Lucas Reeve. However, just as she expected, Franka’s hand passed right through Lucas Reeve’s body. After all, one was a soul form and the other was a physical form; the two couldn’t touch at all.

Although Lucas Reeve could use his powerful Spiritual Power to materialize a part of himself, like his fingers...

That’s how Lucas Reeve had used his phone and computer to look up information before, but he couldn’t maintain it for too long. At full power, he could at most maintain a materialized finger for an hour. So, unless absolutely necessary, Lucas Reeve continued to exist in his soul form.

Franka’s thick-skinned nature once again refreshed Jessica’s understanding of her.

But.

On second thought, it didn’t seem that strange. She herself had also quickly accepted Mr. Reeve’s special existence.

Under Lucas Reeve’s ’what is this idiot doing’ gaze.

Franka trotted back to Liskarm’s side, patted her on the head, and said excitedly.

”Liskarmy, look! Ghosts really do exist!!”

”I told you before that ghosts definitely exist, but you insisted on throwing a bunch of scientific laws at me. Come on, now a real ghost is floating right in front of you. What else do you have to say?”

Liskarm’s mouth twitched uncontrollably.

Franka’s smug look annoyed Liskarm greatly.

”There are many things that science cannot prove. I was merely speculating based on existing scientific theories at the time.”

Franka loved to see her best friend flustered at her hands. She said with a wicked grin, ”So?”

”So....”

A cross-shaped vein popped on Liskarm’s forehead, and the dragon horns on the sides of her head seemed to crackle with a bit of electricity.

The two began their daily bickering (1/1).

Lucas Reeve, who should have been the main character, was suddenly sidelined. Looking at the two ’clowns’ and frenemies across from him, Lucas Reeve kind of wanted to go back into the necklace. Floating outside like this felt like being an animal on display.

Jessica also finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Apparently.

Although her two seniors were a little surprised at first, they didn’t treat Mr. Reeve like a monster.

Finally.

The daily war of words between Franka and Liskarm, which always ended in a draw, subsided.

Their attention once again fell on Lucas Reeve.

”So, Mr. Reeve, why are you attached to Jessica?”

Franka got straight to the point with Lucas Reeve.

”Could it be that ghosts also like rich girls?”

”.....”

Liskarm, beside her, retorted.

”Ghosts have no use for money.”

Franka: ”Maybe he has a collecting habit. I’ve read in novels that dragons have no use for money either, but they just love gold and silver. Maybe it’s a fetish. Maybe this Mr. Reeve was someone who really liked money when he was alive, so he retained this habit after becoming a ghost.”

Liskarm: ”You can’t say that. There’s no evidence to prove that ghosts are transformed from dead people. Maybe ghosts are a separate species from humans?”

Franka thought about it and felt that it made sense. She nodded, then leaned forward and asked in a low voice, ”So, if you don’t mind me asking, Mr. Reeve, how did you die?”

Hiss...

The corner of Lucas Reeve’s mouth twitched uncontrollably.

How was this fox lady’s way of speaking so similar to that angel lady from Lungmen?

”Senior Franka, that’s very rude, you know. Mr. Reeve is the great Genie, he can grant wishes!!”

”I was killed by a dump truck.”

Lucas Reeve answered with a straight face.

He had indeed been killed by a dump truck and transmigrated.

Franka shook her head sympathetically, ”That’s a little tragic.”

”Then how did you end up with our little cutie Jessica?”

”I don’t know. When I woke up, I was in the necklace around Jessica’s neck.”

”Wait a minute?!”

Franka was a bit confused.

”If you’re so powerful, how did you get killed by a dump truck?”

”I don’t remember. I only remember that I was killed by a truck. I don’t know the specific reason.”

Lucas Reeve told a lie.

Or rather, he was just too lazy to answer Franka’s questions, so he simply used the all-purpose excuse of amnesia to fill in the gap.

”That’s truly tragic. Mr. Reeve must have been a powerful expert when he was alive, to die so casually. It’s a pity.”

”Wait a minute? Why is it that so many people die on Terra every year, but I’ve only ever seen you, one soul? Could it be that dump trucks are the secret to reincarnation?”

Franka had too many questions, and Lucas Reeve was getting too lazy to answer.

So Jessica simply told Franka everything Lucas Reeve had told her.

”Genie? Wishes?”

”You can grant wishes?!!”

Franka was incredibly surprised. Her smile was brilliant; she felt as if she had stumbled upon a treasure.

Lucas Reeve didn’t deny it: ”Indeed, I can.”

”Then I want money! Can you grant this wish?”

”How much do you want?”

”Let’s start with a hundred million.”

Lucas Reeve and Jessica seemed to have a telepathic connection.

The moment Franka made her wish.

Jessica had already taken out a checkbook, written a one followed by several zeros, signed her name, and handed it over.

”Senior... here’s one hundred million...”

Franka: ”Huh?!!!”
