Becoming Their Guiding Spirit

# Chapter 43: Woohoo! Liftoff! Lucas Reeve took a deep breath.

Crimson patterns, strange and twisting like blood vessels, began to wrap around Jessica’s body. From Lucas Reeve’s palms, they spread along the steering wheel he was touching, like a ’symbiote,’ covering the entire vehicle at an incredible speed. In just a moment.

The entire vehicle turned pitch black, with crimson patterns crisscrossing its surface, even covering the cabin and the engine below. At that moment, the vehicle transformed into a beast from a primordial wilderness.

And Lucas Reeve could clearly feel his control over the entire vehicle. It was as if the vehicle was now in perfect sync with him, having become his possession, an extension of his own body. He could control it with a single thought, without even needing to turn the steering wheel.

The three people in the car were all startled by the vehicle’s transformation.

”What is this ability?!!”

In Franka’s eyes.

Lucas Reeve was becoming more and more mysterious.

He was definitely not some ordinary human who had turned into a soul. How could a human soul possess so many absurd abilities? Setting aside his fire and lightning sword skills, his nearly unbelievable reaction speed already surpassed that of many elite operators.

In Franka’s opinion.

That Lucas Reeve was definitely not at his full strength.

The fact that Jessica’s legs were injured when he used his sword skills showed that Jessica’s physical strength was limiting his full potential. If he were given a suitable body... how strong would this person be?

And now, he had unleashed this never-before-seen ability.

It was unimaginable.

Was this person even a Terran when he was alive? How could such an incredible person be killed by a truck? It just didn’t seem plausible. This guy was definitely lying through his teeth when he introduced himself!!

Knight of Owner: No matter the weapon, armament, or object, upon being touched by the user, it will transform into at least a D-rank Noble Phantasm. The basic attributes of ordinary objects will be greatly enhanced. Although a D-rank Noble Phantasm is the second-lowest rank, the word ’Noble Phantasm’ itself says it all. Even the lowest-ranked Noble Phantasm is far superior to ordinary items.

”Hold on tight! I’m accelerating!”

Lucas Reeve took a sharp breath.

He slammed his foot on the gas pedal.

In an instant, the vehicle, now a D-rank Noble Phantasm, roared to life as if its heart had been activated. The engine roared, the body shook violently, and from the exhaust pipe at the back, a deep blue flame shot out. The entire vehicle transformed into a nocturnal beast dragging a bewitching trail of light, leaving the Originium Slugs far behind.

”Ahhhhh!!!!”

Magallan was completely terrified by Lucas Reeve’s driving.

”Jessica! Slow down! Slow down!! I can’t see the road!!!”

”It doesn’t matter...”

Because the speed was too fast and the illuminated range was only three to four meters, just as Magallan finished speaking, a rock wall appeared in front of the vehicle.

”!!!!”

”We’re done for!!”

BOOM!!

However.

Just as the three of them thought they were about to crash and die, about to join Lucas Reeve for a five-stack.

The vehicle, now a black sword, effortlessly smashed through the rock wall in front of it and charged out. The incredible destructive power didn’t even crack the front windshield. Apart from some minor impact marks, the front of the car was unchanged.

”Hiss!!!”

Magallan gasped, looking at the petite yet cold Jessica in her arms with utter shock.

”There’s more?”

Perhaps the commotion Lucas Reeve had just caused was too great. Even though they had shaken off the previous batch of Originium Slugs, this was their territory. After shaking off one batch, a new one burrowed out of the ground and blocked the vehicle’s path.

”Excuse me... please move aside.”

Lucas Reeve had no intention of slowing down.

He floored the gas pedal.

The speedometer on the dashboard shot all the way around.

The vehicle roared.

The speed, combined with the already bumpy wilderness terrain, sent Liskarm and Franka in the back flying around, unable to even stand steady.

”Move!”

A brilliant crimson light shone from the front of the vehicle as it charged mercilessly into the swarm of Originium Slugs.

Bang! Bang! Bang!!

Countless Originium Slugs were sent flying into the air by Lucas Reeve’s car. Magallan, in the driver’s seat with a seatbelt, was better off, but Franka and Liskarm in the back were in for a world of hurt. Not only could they not stand steady, but they were also constantly being thrown into the air by the violent jolts.

”There’s a lot of them....”

The shells of these Originium Slugs were still very hard. Although a single one couldn’t do much damage to the vehicle, which had become a D-rank Noble Phantasm, there were too many of them. Even with his power protecting it, after the power faded, the car would probably be totaled.

”Hold on tight, we’re taking off.”

Lucas Reeve slammed on the gas pedal again. Under his mental control, the front of the car lifted high, and then....

To everyone’s astonishment.

The car used the Originium Slugs as a ramp and launched into the sky, soaring high enough to be shoulder-to-shoulder with the ever-brightening moon.

Franka and Liskarm were also flying in the air. Never in their lives did they think they would hate riding in a car so much, or rather, they never wanted to ride in Lucas Reeve’s car again...

Reaching the highest point.

The vehicle traced a beautiful parabola through the air, while below, the Originium Slugs were a dense, crawling mass.

”Whoa!!!”

Ascending to the highest point and then descending again, the contrast made even Magallan the explorer and Franka and Liskarm the elite mercenaries cry out.

Magallan had been exploring her whole life and thought she had seen it all. She never imagined that she would one day scream because of driving.

The vehicle soared over a large sea of Originium Slugs. After landing, it bounced several times with a series of thuds. If not for the enhancement from Lucas Reeve’s Noble Phantasm, no matter how superior the vehicle’s performance was, it would have been long gone.

Finally.

After about ten minutes of bumpy riding.

The group successfully left the uninhabited wilderness and officially entered Bolívar’s territory, escaping the horrid Originium Slugs. After the vehicle came to a steady stop, the three of them immediately rushed out and squatted on the ground. The joy of being back on solid ground brought them a sense of relief.

The enhancement of the Noble Phantasm faded.

Sure enough.

Just as Lucas Reeve had guessed.

As the color of the car’s body returned to normal, with a clatter, the car fell apart...

Magallan stared, petrified, as her custom-made, high-priced transport vehicle was wrecked.

Jessica, who had regained control of her body, felt a little embarrassed. She walked over to Magallan and said in a small voice.

”I’m very sorry... Miss Columbus, your car... I will compensate you for its original price...”
