Becoming Their Guiding Spirit

# Chapter 46: Just call me Ceobe!! As long as she got her head patted, she could have food.

For the first time, the girl felt that getting food was so simple.

In the past, she had to hunt strenuously in the jungle. Occasionally, if she was lucky, she would find a rabbit that had run into a tree and died, or a fruit tree that had just ripened and hadn’t been eaten by other creatures, or she would have to rush into a human settlement similar to her own and fight for some food. After so many risks, she was still likely to go hungry.

She never expected food to come so easily.

At this moment.

Although the girl was tied to a tree, she very consciously stretched out her head, letting them enjoy petting her to their hearts’ content. No Perro dislikes being petted, and the girl was no exception. She didn’t quite understand why these strange humans were massaging her while happily giving her food.

However, the girl, whose brain capacity was not large enough, was too lazy to think about it in detail.

As long as there was something to eat, it was fine.

Although petting a dog’s head was very comfortable, as professional mercenaries, Franka and Liskarm did not let their guard down in the slightest. After all, the other party had just attacked Jessica. Although Lucas Reeve’s presence made them view Jessica as an operator with strength comparable to their own and not in any danger, they couldn’t let their guard down.

However.

As they continued to feed her.

They noticed something was wrong.

This girl...

She couldn’t get full!!

It was one thing to finish the barbecue, as the portion wasn’t that large to begin with.

But this little girl had eaten five whole portions of Franka’s military self-heating instant rations. You have to know, this kind of military ration was not the kind you buy in the supermarket, which has a small portion and is expensive. This was the real military-grade stuff. Basically, one bag could satisfy the energy needs of a tall, strong soldier after half a day of training. But... this girl had eaten five portions in one go.

And...

Grumble~~

Her stomach rumbled again.

The girl looked pitifully and stretched out her head, as if to say, come and pet me, then give me something to eat.

Franka wouldn’t give her any more of the instant rations; she didn’t have much left herself. Instead, she took out the special compressed biscuits from Blacksteel Worldwide from her bag. Half a biscuit with water could make a strong man full.

One... two... three...

It wasn’t until the fourth biscuit and two full bottles of mineral water.

That the girl finally let out a small burp. Her little belly protruded slightly, and she had a look of utter enjoyment.

One person... ate thirteen portions of food?

What kind of big eater was she?

”So full~~”

The girl mumbled. If her hands weren’t tied, she would have wanted to pat her slightly bulging tummy. It was the first time in a long time that she had been truly full.

These people!

They are good people!!

Assessment complete!!

The girl’s fluffy tail behind her wagged nonstop.

Ancients inherited some animal characteristics.

For example...

A dog’s tail wagging like a propeller meant she was very happy, which was exactly what was happening now...

”Little girl, what’s your name?”

Franka coughed and asked. Now that the feeding was over, it was time to ask about the girl’s origins. How did a silly girl like her survive in such a dangerous place? And she had so many weapons on her back, of all different kinds, from knives and swords to spears, and even a crossbow. She looked like a ’weapons master,’ but her somewhat silly appearance and micro-expressions... seemed... probably... not very ’weapons master’-like.

”Huh?”

The girl tilted her head.

It took her a few seconds to understand what Franka meant, then she shook her head.

”I don’t have one~”

Although her speech was a bit slurred, everyone could still understand her.

”You don’t have one?”

They looked at each other, confused.

Lucas Reeve, on the other hand, continued to pet the girl’s head as if comforting a child and asked gently.

”Little one, have you been wandering outside since you were young?”

For some reason.

Lucas Reeve always felt that the girl in front of him could see him.

Her gaze didn’t seem to be directed at the Jessica he was controlling, but rather it passed through Jessica and met his soul’s gaze directly.

They say dogs can see things that people can’t. Could it be true?

Although the girl didn’t understand why there were two souls in this person’s body, the soul talking to her now seemed to be a good person. After all, he was the first one to give her food, and he even scratched her itches, even though he had punched her earlier.

”Mhm!!”

The girl nodded, and then, as if she remembered something, she pointed to one of the inconspicuous axes in the pile of weapons scattered on the ground.

”That~ there are words on that axe, but I can’t read. Can you help me look?”

”Words?”

Lucas Reeve went to pick it up. The axe had probably been used many, many times, and the girl didn’t seem to know how to sharpen it, so the blade was already a bit dull. On the handle, three words were carved.

”Ceobe?”

Lucas Reeve read it out loud, and the others gathered around.

Now, after a few words, Franka was also somewhat convinced that this girl might really be a little girl who had been wandering since she was young. After all, her clothes were in tatters, with only cloth covering her chest and waist. The fabric on her slender waist, collarbones, and even her thighs was severely torn from various unknown reasons.

A fox’s senses are very keen.

She was probably sure that the other party was not lying. After all...

A tail doesn’t lie.

”It says ’Ceobe’ on this axe. Is that your name?”

Lucas Reeve asked.

”Name...”

The girl was also unsure.

”I don’t know either. Since those three words are on the axe, and the axe has been with me since I can remember, then I guess my name is Ceobe. Ha! You guys can just call me Ceobe! My name is Ceobe!”

So casual...

Everyone complained in their hearts in unison.

”So, Ceobe, do you know where there are any human settlements or cities nearby?”

Franka asked tentatively.

Ceobe didn’t seem to understand what a city was, and looked clueless.

”A place with a lot of people.”

Lucas Reeve added.

Ceobe had a sudden realization.

”That way!!”

She looked to the northwest and said, ”If you go straight that way, there’s a place with a lot of people. I remember a lot of people chased after me and hit me when I was foraging for food there.”

”Thanks...”

Now that they had confirmed she wasn’t an enemy.

Franka untied her, and returned the pile of weapons of unknown origin to her, letting her leave. As for the earlier attack, they would just pretend it never happened.

However...

She didn’t seem to want to leave.

She squatted next to her pile of weapons, just quietly watching the group preparing their tents and sleeping bags around the fire.

As the night deepened.

The temperature in the area also began to drop.
