Becoming Their Guiding Spirit

# Chapter 45: Do you guys know what a Husky is? ”Awoo~~~”

The little head that poked out from the weeds, looking slightly ’simple-minded,’ seemed to be attracted by the aroma of the barbecue. Her eyes sparkled, and her vision was filled only with the meat skewers on the grill. The four people and one soul staring at her in confusion were completely ignored.

”Meat!!!”

A not-so-clear word escaped the girl’s mouth.

Then, as if she were a starving puppy, she dashed towards the barbecue grill. She ran very fast, but her coolness lasted less than three seconds. Due to extreme hunger and weakness, right before their eyes, she tripped and fell flat on her face, her sizable chest coming to an abrupt halt.

”Grrrrowl~~”

A puppy-like whimper came from her mouth, followed by a rumbling sound from her flat stomach, like the roar of a starving beast, echoing through the wilderness.

This whole sequence of events left everyone present dumbfounded.

”What’s... wrong with her....”

Jessica took a few steps back, hiding behind Franka.

Lucas Reeve: ”Obviously... she’s hungry.”

A group of people gathered around.

They formed a circle around the girl who was lying motionless on the ground.

Franka poked the girl’s head, but she didn’t move. Liskarm signaled to Franka that her actions were impolite. In contrast, Magallan was lost in deep self-doubt.

This shouldn’t be happening!!

Why is there someone here!!

”She must be hungry?”

Franka casually placed the half-eaten skewer in her hand in front of the ’unconscious’ girl’s nose.

However.

The moment the skewer touched the girl’s nose, her motionless little nose suddenly twitched.

The strong aroma of meat seemed to instantly activate the last bit of strength in the girl’s body. The girl, who had been lying on the ground ’half-dead,’ instantly opened her eyes, opened her mouth, and bit down hard on the skewer with her sharp teeth. All they heard was a ’snap’ as the stainless steel skewer was bitten in two by the girl.

Crunch, crunch.

After a simple chew, she spat out the broken pieces of the skewer.

The sudden turn of events startled everyone.

Not satisfied, the girl leaped up and pounced on the steak in Jessica’s... hands.

”Aaaah!!”

Jessica yelped and instinctively reached for the gun on her thigh. The moment she raised the gun, the girl seemed to sense the threat from this unfamiliar weapon. She drew an axe from the many weapons on her back and knocked the pistol out of Jessica’s hand.

[Breath of the Beast! Flash of Inspiration! Eat my fist!!]

Due to the urgency of the situation—after all, no one expected the seemingly starved girl to suddenly attack—the moment Lucas Reeve took over Jessica’s body, he used the enhancement of the breathing style to punch the pouncing girl.

Lucas Reeve’s punch packed a solid punch.

The girl flew backwards and landed on the ground. Already extremely hungry, she passed out completely.

Phew~~

Everyone breathed a sigh of relief.

Franka went up and prodded her with the tip of her foot, even waving another meat skewer in front of her nose to make sure there was no reaction before concluding that the crisis was over.

”This... McDon... Miss M, didn’t you say there were no wild animals around here?”

Franka turned to look at the penguin lady beside her.

Magallan awkwardly twirled her not-so-long hair with her fingers and laughed dryly.

”This... this isn’t a wild animal, is it? Little Franka, she’s clearly a person...”

”But... she doesn’t look very smart, does she?”

Lucas Reeve said, using Jessica’s body.

”Do you guys know what a Husky is?”

”No...”

Everyone shook their heads.

”It’s the kind of dog that looks really handsome, but even if it’s just standing there, you can’t hide the simple-mindedness in its eyes. It just gives off this goofy feeling. And in reality, it really is pretty dumb.”

Franka stroked her chin.

”Anyway, let’s tie her up first, just in case she attacks again. Since there’s someone around here, there might be a village nearby. If we can find a village, we can probably ask for our approximate location.”

It wasn’t that Franka didn’t trust Magallan.

But after two consecutive failures, Franka felt it was more reliable to find a local resident and ask.

--Ten minutes later--

The Perro girl slowly opened her eyes. It wasn’t so much that she regained consciousness naturally, but rather that she woke up from hunger again while she was unconscious.

As soon as she opened her eyes.

Four pairs of large eyes were surrounding her, looking at her with curiosity as if she were an animal in a zoo.

However.

As a Perro, her sense of smell told her that there were not just four gazes, but five. She just didn’t know where the last one was.

”Yaya-ya~~”

The girl struggled, but she found herself tied to a super thick tree trunk, mumbling something that the others couldn’t understand.

”Great explorer Miss McKaelen, you’ve traveled to countless places. You must know a lot of local dialects, right? What did she just say?”

Franka asked again.

Magallan froze, a little embarrassed.

Because...

She didn’t understand either.

Did Bolívar have this kind of dialect?

And this dialect seemed to be mixed with some common Terran dialects. It felt familiar, yet she couldn’t understand it. Could it be the language of some remote tribe in Bolívar?

While Magallan was thinking.

Lucas Reeve slowly commented.

”Do you think it’s possible...”

”That this person can’t really speak properly? Or she just has poor enunciation, like a human child who has just learned to talk.”

Lucas Reeve wasn’t just saying this casually.

As a spiritual body, he could naturally see a person’s essential spiritual state.

The spiritual state of the girl in front of him felt... almost transparently pure, like a newborn human child, with no concept of right or wrong, nor any other moral concepts, only the most basic biological instincts.

Eating!

Mating....

”You don’t believe me?”

Seeing that the others didn’t believe him, Lucas Reeve took a small piece of roasted meat from the grill and walked over.

Smelling the meat.

The girl tied to the tree’s eyes instantly lit up, and she struggled constantly.

Then, in a tone one would use to coax a child, Lucas Reeve said.

”Let me pat your head, and I’ll give you something to eat...”

After all, she was human. Even if her speech was unclear, she should be able to understand, especially since Lucas Reeve spoke very slowly.

Sure enough.

She understood.

Without even thinking.

She stretched her head out.

Lucas Reeve smiled slightly, reached out and pet the girl’s very cute doggy head, then fed her the meat in his hand.

Perhaps she hadn’t eaten a proper meal in a long time. This little bit was far from enough. She proactively rubbed her head against Lucas Reeve’s hand. This time, everyone heard her clearly.

”I want more~”

Oho~~

So cute!!!

Franka and Liskarm were instantly overwhelmed with girlish feelings. They both went to the barbecue grill to get meat skewers and other food, imitating what Lucas Reeve had just done.
