Becoming Their Guiding Spirit

I wonder if Jessica has *that kind* of thing~ ”Whoohoo~ A 100-square-meter bedroom!!”

Franka pushed open the door to Jessica’s bedroom. The room had a quaint, Victorian feel. Despite its large size, it wasn’t cluttered—just a large sofa, a large coffee table, a luxurious, fully hand-carved wooden vanity, and a massive bed, easily three by five meters. It was a hand-carved, solid wood bed, with the bedding neatly arranged on top.

The moment she entered.

Franka transformed into a nimble vulpo, leaping through the air and landing with a soft thud on Jessica’s large bed. She buried her head into the soft mattress, savoring the feeling.

”Sooo soft~~ Expensive things really are different. It’s so much softer than my mattress at home. Jessica, how much was this? I want to buy one....”

Originally, when Franka first arrived, she had the mindset of a ’detective,’ intending to investigate things thoroughly.

However.

As Jessica gave them a tour, room by room, that initial intention was thrown to the wind. Her lively personality had her dashing all over the villa, asking about everything.

Although Franka had seen her fair share of mansions, they had never been personally connected to her.

It was like seeing a Rolls-Royce on the street; you might glance at it, but you’d forget it just as quickly.

But if your good friend, who you always thought came from an ordinary family, suddenly had a Rolls-Royce, that was a completely different story.

”Stop embarrassing yourself~”

Liskarm frowned, reaching out to grab Franka’s fluffy tail as it swayed back and forth.

”Yaa!”

The tail was a sensitive spot. The sudden grab made Franka jump right up.

”It wasn’t that expensive, just a few hundred thousand... If you like it, senpai, I can give you one.”

Jessica scratched her head, speaking shyly.

”....”

”Never mind then.”

As soon as she heard the price, Franka gave up.

”Um, it’s getting late. I’ll call the community restaurant and order some food. You two can keep looking around.”

Just as Jessica was leaving.

Franka’s gaze grew suspicious. As if in retaliation, she gave Liskarm’s tail a firm tug and asked in a low voice.

”Find anything unusual?”

”No.”

Liskarm shook her head.

They might have seemed like they were enjoying the tour, but in reality, they were constantly observing their surroundings.

It was a bit strange.

There was a major conflict in Jessica’s reasoning.

At first, she said her home was messy... and inconvenient for guests.

But honestly.

After entering the house, Franka seriously suspected Jessica might have mysophobia. To think one person could keep such a large mansion so clean, while she herself lived in a 40-square-meter apartment with underwear strewn everywhere.

As for the theory of hiding a boyfriend.

Honestly.

Franka didn’t believe it for a second.

She couldn’t imagine Jessica dating anyone. Besides, a vulpo’s sense of smell is extremely keen. If someone had been there, even days later, she would be able to smell the lingering scent.

There wasn’t a single trace of a man living in Jessica’s house, not even a scent. The house only smelled of Jessica herself.

The boyfriend option... X.

As for the other possibility.

A wicked grin spread across Franka’s face. She whispered into Liskarm’s ear.

”Liskarm, my dear, you think it’s possible Jessica bought some ’little toys,’ so... she was afraid we’d see them, and that’s why... hehe~ Jessica’s not a little kid anymore, she’s a grown woman. It’s normal to have needs in that department...”

Liskarm turned her head and stared at Franka as if she were an idiot.

”How would you know? Don’t tell me you’ve bought some too?”

”???”

Franka’s pretty face flushed red, and she hurriedly tapped Liskarm on the shoulder, ”Don’t talk nonsense! I have not!”

The two sat on Jessica’s bed thinking for a long time but came to no clear conclusion. After a while, Jessica finished ordering takeout from the community restaurant and trotted back, continuing the tour of the third floor with her two senpais.

Before long.

The dinner delivery arrived.

How to put it...

This ’delivery’ somewhat subverted Franka’s understanding of the word.

It wasn’t a delivery guy in a yellow jacket.

It was a group of handsome men and beautiful women in suits, each pushing a cart you’d only see in a high-end restaurant. Each cart was covered with a special semi-circular lid. They approached the dining table in an orderly fashion, bowed respectfully to the three of them, and began to serve the dishes one by one, the sense of ceremony dialed up to the max.

Night fell.

Jessica lay comfortably in the bathtub, only the top half of her head above the water, bubbles gurgling at the surface near her mouth.

”Mr. Reeve...”

Jessica whispered softly to herself.

”Yes, what is it?”

Lucas Reeve’s voice echoed in her mind.

Although the necklace wasn’t on Jessica’s person, their two soul exchanges had caused a small part of their souls to connect. Even when the necklace was separated from Jessica, the two could still communicate without hindrance, and even share vision. However, there was a range limit, which Jessica had tested the previous night.

The connection between their souls would break at a distance of about twenty meters from the necklace.

”Heehee... I just wanted to say your name.”

”Mr. Reeve, do you think... I’m too timid...”

”You are.”

Lucas Reeve’s blunt reply made Jessica puff out her cheeks.

”Although I managed to pass the assessment with your help, Mr. Reeve... I know... it was all your doing, not mine...”

”.....”

Lucas Reeve remained silent. He knew Jessica had more to say.

”You know... I’ve been like this since I was little. Very timid, not good at talking to people, afraid of strangers... I’m actually much better now. In the past, I didn’t even have the courage to speak to a stranger. I hate being this way...”

”I want to laugh out loud like Franka-senpai, to make friends with people, to become a reliable senpai...”

”I can help you.”

Lucas Reeve said slowly.

”While I may not be as omnipotent as the genies you speak of, our meeting is a matter of fate. I will do everything in my power to help you. This wish... I accept it.”

”Fate~~”

”Mmm~~~”

Upon hearing those two words.

Jessica’s face instantly turned as red as a ripe apple.

Suddenly.

The sliding door to the bathroom was thrown open.

A pale, naked figure appeared abruptly.

”Heehee! Here I come, my cute little Jessica! Let’s bathe together!”

”Aah!! Senpai, don’t~~ Mr. Reeve, close your eyes!!”

Jessica scrambled to cover her eyes, but it was too late.

Through the shared vision.

Lucas Reeve saw everything crystal clear.

*Hiss...*

The consciousness of Lucas Reeve hidden in the necklace hurriedly cut the visual link with Jessica.

The final image lingered in his mind.

*Holy crap...*

*They’re huge!*
