Reborn in the Eighties as a Housewife with a Space

Chapter 972: Chapter 966 Family_1

“Hehe. Mom, don’t you worry. Didn’t you see Great Aunt Lin still bustle around with the cooking? The food won’t cool off that quickly.” Qin Xue, seeing Lin Cuiping busily cooking while her mother sets the table, smilingly assured her mother.

“Stop joking around. Hurry up and go wash your hands with Molin. Can’t you see even pregnant Fang Xiu is waiting to eat?” Nangong Shulan watched her distracted daughter, constantly worried about her. Fortunately, she didn’t have to live with her in-laws; otherwise, there would surely be endless criticism.

It’s not that Nangong Shulan had any particular issues with her in-laws. She was fortunate to have in-laws who treated her like their own daughter. Didn’t she see how other people’s in-laws treated them in the village? Not all in-laws are as good as hers, so it’s necessary for her to do more so as not to invite criticism. And this way, it wouldn’t be too hard on the husband. Everyone can get along well. However, in any situation, the one suffering the brunt usually tends to be the daughter-in-law.

But Nangong Shulan didn’t want her daughter to suffer, so she had to remind her repeatedly and hoped that she could keep that in mind, although it seemed like her words didn’t sink in at all.

“Yes, dear mother.” Qin Xue saluted Nangong Shulan, causing a ripple of laughter among those present.

“You get sillier by the day, go on.” Nangong Shulan couldn’t help but laughingly advised.

“Xue’er, you really have thick skin.” Chu Molin eyed his wife, now washing her hands.

“Just lightening up the mood, how did I do?” Qin Xue looked at Chu Molin, expecting praise.

“You did a great job, everyone is jovial.” Chu Molin didn’t disappoint her and lived up to her expectations.

“Glad to hear that, I’ll keep it up.” Qin Xue said, after washing her hands.

Chu Molin didn’t say anything. They were at her mother’s place; there was no need to be restrained. She should enjoy herself as she likes.

“Wow, Great Aunt, you are quite the chef.” Qin Xue looked at the dishes on the table. They look appealing, evidently made by a skilled cook.

“Of course. Your Great Aunt’s cooking skills are top-notch.” Nangong Shulan added. Just simple home cooking. At that time, they didn’t know they could use these skills to open a small diner. Now, their small business, taught by her, was doing quite well. The investment was little; the return, high. It was just a bit laborious.

“If you like it, eat more. Don’t listen to your mom’s boasting. I only know how to cook these dishes.” Lin Cuiping was somewhat embarrassed by her sisters-in-law’s praise.

“Great Aunt, you’re being too modest. Look at this red-braised pork- its color is bright, and it’s fatty but not greasy. Without culinary skills, this can’t be achieved. Isn’t that right, Uncle?” Qin Xue laughingly looked at her silent Uncle.

This Uncle looked quite similar to Qin Yun, appearing kind and honest. However, Qin Xue could see he had his own little schemes which were harmless, given the brothers had genuine brotherhood. As long as the family got along harmoniously and loved each other, they wouldn’t be bullied, and she believes Uncle understands this too.

Qin Xue served a piece of meat to her grandparents, then to all the elders, before starting her meal. All the Qins watched Qin Xue in surprise, except for Nangong Shulan and Qin Jiale, who had spent two months with her and were used to her. Qin Lei couldn’t help but happily devour the food served by his daughter, finding it unusually delicious.

Nangong Shulan gazed at her husband’s happy face, finding it amusing. The man was moved by their daughter’s actions.
