Chapter 9 The Sexy MermaidThe sound came from the master bedroom’s bathroom.

The master bedroom was huge, and the bathroom took up nearly half of its area.

”Ah!!!”

”Xiao Chen! Come in quickly!!!”

Uncle Wang let out a sound of extreme terror.

It was clear that he had seen something.

Chen Mo walked in within a few strides.

At his feet lay Uncle Wang, trembling all over on the floor.

Looking inside, his pupils couldn’t help but constrict.

In the blood-red bathtub soaked a pale woman; her exposed skin tissue had swollen, appearing unnaturally fat.

Her gaze was fixed on the two of them, and her right hand was posed in a V-sign, as if saying ’Help me take a picture’!

Chen Mo took a deep breath, signaled Uncle Wang not to move around to avoid disturbing the scene, and then stepped forward to examine it closely.

As he got closer, his nostrils were filled with the smell of rust, but the concentration wasn’t high; it was clearly half blood and half water.

Looking into the bathtub, the victim’s limbs had already been dismembered; the reason it could hold a V-sign was because the body had developed rigor mortis.

It looked more like a toy puzzle deliberately posed by the murderer before leaving.

Friends who kill often know that rigor mortis occurs within a few hours after death and generally lasts for forty-eight hours.

Based on this, the victim’s time of death was within 48 hours.

”Call the police.”

Chen Mo turned his head to look at Uncle Wang, who was shivering behind him.

At his age, being subjected to such a shock was truly tough.

”Aren’t you a police officer?”

Uncle Wang replied after crawling out of the bathroom on all fours.

”Yeah, aren’t I a police officer.”

After taking out his phone, he called Long Hao.

At the same time, a panel appeared before his eyes.

[Melon Name]: Dismemberment Case.

[Task Rating]: D Grade. (Case rating is based on the perpetrator’s modus operandi, social impact, and difficulty of investigation.)

[Task Reward]: 1-3000 melon points (No penalty for failure).

[Task Deadline]: 24 hours (timer started).

Looking at the betting agreement and the double melon-eating card.

He secretly thought to himself that work had arrived.

Ten minutes later...

Police sirens sounded downstairs.

Long Hao led his men rushing into the master bedroom bathroom on the third floor; when he saw the corpse lying in the bathtub, his temples throbbed.

What is going on? He had just finished handling Wang Guodong’s case, and another one had already arrived.

Muhe has not been peaceful lately.

”What’s the situation?”

”Weren’t you just at the station? How did you end up here?”

Facing Long Hao’s question, Chen Mo explained the sequence of events in a few words.

Long Hao’s mouth opened in surprise: ”Watching the commotion again?”

The scene from yesterday where he ordered people to take Chen Mo and Uncle Wang back was still fresh in his memory.

”You got a note and even came in alone, right?”

”Take them back for interrogation!”

Long Hao waved his hand to signal Xiao Liu to take Uncle Wang back first.

As for Chen Mo, he naturally wouldn’t be listed as a suspect; a police officer discovering and reporting a crime is different from an ordinary person doing so.

Yesterday was purely a formality.

”Xiao Chen, this... I’m innocent!”

Hearing that he was being treated as a suspect again, Uncle Wang grew anxious.

Yesterday was one thing, and he accepted his bad luck.

But for this to happen again today, why was his luck so bad?

He didn’t kill anyone, yet he was stuck in the detention cell every day, being interrogated every day.

”I know you’re innocent; once the case is solved, I’ll get you out.”

Chen Mo couldn’t just speak up and let Uncle Wang go directly.

When getting the stool, it was indeed him who came in alone, and the note was indeed put into his pocket by him.

Moreover, the most unexplainable thing right now is.

The victim encountered danger in the bathroom; how was the note placed on the door?

Since it could be placed at the door, why not just run away or call for help loudly?

Old Man Liu’s family was right next door.

Seeing hope dashed, Uncle Wang lowered his head and went back with Xiao Liu.

”A V-sign, is this waiting for our Trace Technician to take a picture of her?”

”And how did this note appear on the door?”

Long Hao lowered his head to examine the note carefully, while simultaneously finding the victim’s previous writing records from the study for comparison.

It could basically be confirmed that this was the victim’s handwriting.

”Actually, it’s very likely that the perpetrator placed this note on the door, right?”

”The perpetrator forced the victim to write it before killing her.”

After finishing, he looked at Chen Mo, waiting for a reply.

”The perpetrator is very arrogant...”

Chen Mo nodded; these were all clues laid out in the open.

Especially the fact that the perpetrator posed the victim in a photo-taking position, which further illustrated the perpetrator’s arrogance.

To be more precise, it’s a provocation!

He is provoking the police.

”Provocation? That makes sense.”

”If that’s the case, the action of leaving a note at the door is because he was afraid we wouldn’t see it, that’s the logic, right?”

Long Hao said through gritted teeth; he had never encountered such an arrogant murderer.

Once caught, I’ll beat the crap out of him!

”Captain Long, the Autopsy results are out...”

By now, the blood in the bathtub had been drained, and the situation inside was clearly visible.

The victim’s limbs had indeed been dismembered, just as Chen Mo had seen earlier.

”The victim’s limbs were likely hacked off directly by the perpetrator with a kitchen knife; there are many traces of kitchen knife hacking on the bones.”

”The fatal wound is on the victim’s neck; according to our judgment, the victim was strangled to death by the perpetrator.”

”In addition, there are multiple injuries on the victim’s body.”

Following where the forensic doctor pointed, there were bruises, knife wounds, totaling more than twenty in all.

This meant that the perpetrator first tortured the victim severely, strangled her to death, and then performed corpse abuse by hacking off the limbs.

”I have seen so many corpses, this one is the most cruel.”

The forensic doctor let out a heavy breath, unable to imagine how helpless the victim must have been at the time.

”Damn it!”

”Has the victim’s information not been retrieved yet?”

Long Hao roared at the police officer outside the bathroom.

”It’s been found.”

The police officer, holding the documents, ran into the bathroom in a hurry.

”The victim’s name is Yang Nuan, 27 years old this year, from Yangjiacun in Muhe, and worked as a bar hostess. The name registered for this villa is not hers. Having asked the neighbors, Yang Nuan only moved in recently.”

”We contacted the owner; he is abroad, unmarried, and has no record of returning to the country recently.”

In that case, the relationship between the victim and the landlord was very likely similar to being a kept woman.

”What about the rest? Emotional status, interpersonal relationships?”

”According to the bar manager and colleagues, she didn’t have a boyfriend, and given the nature of her work, her boyfriends were all the wealthy type; if one had to say, it would be the owner of this villa.”

”According to our investigation, the landlord is also not registered as married, and as for having grudges with others, that is still being investigated.”

Since he hasn’t returned to the country and there are no emotional issues, the landlord’s suspicion can basically be ruled out.

Long Hao waved his hand, signaling to continue the investigation.

Once the person left, his face sank.

What is this?

Not a vendetta!

Not a crime of passion!

And certainly not for money or lust!

What is the motive?

Why torture someone to this extent?

”My mind is a mess right now; the perpetrator’s behavior is too abnormal. Do you have any thoughts?”

He looked at Chen Mo, who was crouching on the floor not far away, rubbing his index finger and thumb back and forth, and asked.

Seeing no answer, he walked over on his own and crouched down to examine it together.

They saw that the thing Chen Mo was rubbing in his hands was pitch black, very much like the ashes after paper had been burned.

And these ashes, if one looked closely, were quite abundant in the bathroom.

It was as if the window had been opened and they had been scattered by the wind.

”This should be the waste paper left behind when the perpetrator made the victim write for help, burned when leaving.”

Long Hao easily associated it with the A4 paper at the door with ”Help” written on it.

Perhaps the victim was unwilling to cooperate and tried several times without success.

Chen Mo didn’t speak, because the material of this paper was different from that of the paper with ”Help” written on it.

It might not be waste paper.

Especially since the V-sign the victim posed in the bathtub, viewed from this angle, was in an excellent position!

But in the end, the information was too little.

”What did you just ask me?” Chen Mo stood up.

”I said, my mind is a bit messy, do you have any thoughts right now?”

”Yes.”

”The perpetrator is a psychopath!”
