Chapter 5: A mole between his eyebrows—is he the person he’s looking for?The situation was neither good nor bad.

According to the statements from the women, they had indeed discussed such matters while chatting with other customers.

Friends who frequently visit sex workers know that technicians will often chat during their service to build a rapport with the customer, hoping they will choose her again when they have needs in the future.

However, according to the list provided by the seven women, all of them were normal men.

This involves a matter of emotional intelligence; those working in service industries would not tell a customer with short duration that someone else has a longer duration—wouldn’t that just ruin the customer’s mood?

Therefore, the people on the list were all normal individuals; taking Yang Ming as a topic of conversation would only elicit envy, not jealousy.

”None of the people mentioned fit our profile of the murderer, which means there must be other channels of information.”

Captain Long rubbed his chin with a solemn expression. If they proceeded this way, the scope of the investigation would be far too large.

”Little Liu, come here.”

Chen Mo didn’t think this was a particularly difficult matter.

”How was business when you went to arrest them?”

”It was alright, quite good. There were many people lining up, and they all ran away when they saw me.”

Little Liu recalled the scene at the time, and the corner of his mouth twitched.

”Is it possible that those waiting in line knew the duration of the person before them, or perhaps Yang Ming had some fame within that circle?”

This is actually a very simple logic. When waiting in line, everyone should be very anxious.

Complaining about why that person hasn’t finished yet, when it will be their turn, and how slow they are, and so on.

The possibility of the duration being leaked from this place is very high, which also aligns with the previous speculation that the murderer is one of the patrons.

Captain Long nodded repeatedly at the side; indeed, that made perfect sense.

This brain of his, it really has been enlightened.

Where is the apple tree?

I want to be hit by it too!

”We need to change our perspective, otherwise the case will be stuck here.”

Chen Mo muttered to himself, his index finger tapping lightly on his thigh—this was a subconscious habit of his when thinking.

The current difficulty is that the seven women must have seen the murderer, but in this line of work, it is a transaction of money for goods, and no one pays special attention to the information of a specific customer.

Furthermore, the fact that the murderer has a short duration is not specific enough.

How short is considered short?

Some people think it’s three minutes, others think it’s ten minutes. We must obtain more information to give to the seven women so they can recall.

Unknowingly, he walked to the front of the alley and looked inside. At this moment, the body had already been carried out, and the interior was illuminated by lights.

He had missed a detail earlier: the murderer likely had some mental issues.

After killing someone, a normal person’s first reaction would either be to turn themselves in or to bury the body to destroy the evidence of the crime.

But the murderer simply dumped the body in the alley, neither turning himself in nor burying it. It was hard for Chen Mo not to suspect the other party had mental issues.

Insanity?

Mental illness?

Repression?

Regarding these three options, he was actually more inclined towards the last one.

A man who has been in a state of repression for years due to sexual performance issues, upon accidentally learning that the victim was very strong, developed a desire to possess that strength!

This also aligns with the previous observation: the murderer pulled directly after seeing the kidney because he had been repressed for many years, so he was naturally very excited upon seeing it!

But the motive is still a bit insufficient. Simply being impotent only means the duration is a bit short; one can still enjoy it. Repression is one thing, but developing a pathological psychology is very difficult.

It requires some factor to intensify it.

Looking at Captain Long walking toward him, Chen Mo thought for a moment and asked seriously:

”Captain Long, when you perform poorly, does your sister-in-law blame you?”

What does performing poorly mean?

Captain Long paused in his tracks and immediately realized what he meant. Although the people around didn’t look over, their ears were all perked up.

”You kid...”

Captain Long had a lot to say for a moment, but in the end, he sighed.

”Probably not. Your sister-in-law has a very good temper. I’ll introduce you when I have time.”

Chen Mo nodded to show his anticipation and continued to press:

”What if the performance is frequently poor? Will she get angry because of it? Will it affect the emotional life between husband and wife?”

”This... it probably would!”

Captain Long didn’t know what he thought of in his mind, but after a moment of hesitation, he gave an affirmative answer immediately.

In other words, the catalyst that caused the murderer to develop a pathological psychology is very likely his wife.

The murderer is married!

Chen Mo looked at Captain Long and spoke his thoughts.

”It makes sense. The behavior of dumping the body here is indeed very abnormal...”

”So the characteristics of the murderer are: repressed personality, married, and poor sexual ability.”

As soon as he finished speaking, he intended to go and interrogate the seven women himself. With these three points, he figured locking onto the murderer wouldn’t be too difficult.

But he was stopped by Chen Mo.

”Since the murderer’s ability in that regard is not strong and it affects the emotional life between husband and wife, could it be that he was once married and is now divorced?”

This question is quite important because a single piece of incorrect information could cause the seven women to overlook the real murderer.

”But, how do we determine if the murderer is divorced?”

Captain Long felt this was no different from searching for an enemy out of thin air.

Being able to determine that he was once married was already very impressive on Chen Mo’s part.

”Actually, to a certain extent, since the murderer being married was the catalyst for his pathology, did the fact that his poor sexual ability led to a divorce also exacerbate his pathological psychology?”

As soon as Chen Mo finished speaking, he saw Captain Long’s eyes light up again and again.

Put that way, there really wasn’t any flaw in it!

Since they accepted that being mocked by his wife for years was the catalyst, then the divorce causing the pathological psychology to fully form was not a problem at all.

I have been mocked for so many years, enduring it in silence, and I didn’t expect that in the end, she would still divorce me!

That is probably the murderer’s mental journey.

At this moment, compared to being married, both Chen Mo and Captain Long were more inclined toward him being divorced.

...

A residential courtyard not far from the crime scene was temporarily requisitioned by the police as an interrogation site.

At this moment, the seven independent women were worried about the future prospects of the company.

They were terrified that a single word from the police would cause the company to be shut down for rectification for fifteen days.

”I know what you are worried about. As I said before, if the information provided is what we want, your matters can be left unpursued.”

Chen Mo scanned the faces of the seven women and said coldly.

Seeing that they all nodded, he distributed a piece of paper to each of them.

”I will ask three questions. Answer them carefully and write down the answers at the end.”

Seeing that they all understood, he started directly.

”Recently, which customer have you chatted with about their marital status, who was once married and is currently living alone or is divorced?”

After waiting for a while, seeing that the seven women had stopped writing, he continued:

”This person’s emotions are very repressed—you can understand it as not smiling, always keeping a straight face, and even after the service was completed, the two characteristics just mentioned became even more severe.”

After waiting for a while again, he saw the seven women stop writing once more.

”This person’s duration is very short, and his sexual ability is very poor!”

Seeing that they had all finished writing, Little Liu trotted over to organize them and handed them to Chen Mo.

After three screenings, there were actually not many people who met the requirements.

Since the customer’s name was unknown and only their general appearance was known, they were all described in text.

At a single glance, the problem was obvious.

Of the seven papers, five of them had written the same person.

A mole between the eyebrows.

”Who is this person with a mole between the eyebrows?”

”Describe him.”
