I Created a Containment Object at the Start, and Became a God

14: God truly exists!Director Jiang slammed his hand onto the table, the dull thud causing the conference room to fall silent instantly.

He scanned the room, his gaze lingering for a moment on the face of each captain, before finally resting on the seven members of Team One—they sat in the back row, silent as statues, their silver-white masks glinting coldly under the lights.

”Everyone quiet down, let’s begin the meeting.” Director Jiang’s voice was hoarse and weary. He cleared his throat. ”You all know by now that the person brought back by Team Three has encountered an unexpected situation.”

The group nodded silently; the atmosphere in the conference room was so heavy it felt as if it could be wrung out like water.

Director Jiang took a deep breath, his gaze turning sharp. ”At this point, I will no longer hide it from you all. God… is real.”

This statement was like a bomb detonating in the conference room. Aside from the silent members of Team One, every captain’s expression shifted, and an uproar of discussion erupted instantly.

”What?!”

”So it’s true.”

”Otherwise, this whole thing wouldn’t make any sense.”

The captain of Team Four, Xu Ming, stood up abruptly, his eyes wide behind his glasses. ”Director, if you knew about the existence of deities all along, why did you never mention it before? Why make it public now?”

The other captains also turned their gazes toward him.

Director Jiang gave a bitter smile, the wrinkles on his face seeming to deepen. ”Because of the ’Observer Effect’.” He looked toward Team One. ”Lin Cang, you explain it.”

Lin Cang stood up slowly, and his silver-white mechanical right eye suddenly projected a beam of light, forming a hologram in the center of the conference room.

The image displayed a complex mathematical model with various parameters constantly changing.

”Simply put,” Lin Cang’s voice was terrifyingly calm, ”human cognition of Divine Entities directly affects their state of existence. The more we know, the easier it is for them to break through the dimensional barrier and descend into reality.”

Li Gang frowned at Lin Cang, his voice lowered. ”If knowing more makes it more dangerous, why are you telling us now? Isn’t this just accelerating the descent of those deities?”

His tone carried clear dissatisfaction—as fellow captains of the Investigation Bureau, Team One held such critical secrets while they had been kept in the dark all along.

A blue light flashed in Lin Cang’s eye, and the corner of his mouth curled into a meaningful smile. ”Because there is no longer any need for secrecy.”

He tapped his finger, and the hologram switched to a set of timeline data. ”As early as thirty years ago, divine wills began to break through the dimensional barrier one after another. Of course, these were just fragments of will; the main bodies could not fully descend yet—”

He paused suddenly, the stream of parameters in his mechanical eye speeding up. ”At least, not at this stage.”

The sound of ”crunch, crunch” chewing broke the brief silence. Wang Defa poured the last few potato chips into his mouth, casually crumpled the bag, and threw it into the trash can.

”Thirty years ago? Does that mean these deities are different from those UMAs? They didn’t exist during the ’March Incident’?”

He wiped his greasy fingers on his uniform, his eyes fixed intently on Lin Cang.

”They are fundamentally different.” Lin Cang’s mechanical eye projected a new comparison chart. ”UMAs are byproducts of dimensional fissure leakage, like water droplets seeping from a broken pipe. But deities—”

The image suddenly turned into a mass of twisted, nebula-like matter. ”—are existences that actively tear through dimensions. When ’divine resonance’ was first detected in the Arctic Circle thirty years ago, we knew something was attempting to anchor itself to this world.”

Iron Lady suddenly sneered. ”So you in Team One knew all along, yet you watched us run around like headless chickens dealing with UMAs that might have been contaminated by divinity?”

Lin Cang did not reply.

The hologram suddenly exploded into countless points of light, then reorganized in the air into a 3D map of the Dragon Kingdom.

Over a dozen red dots were flickering on the map, three of which had already turned a dangerous dark red. ”Do you see these red dots?”

Lin Cang’s voice suddenly turned cold. ”Each one is a coordinate for divine anchoring. Thirty years ago there was only one, ten years later it increased to two, and now…”

He snapped his fingers, and the number of red dots instantly doubled. ”They are growing exponentially. When the anchor points reach a critical number…”

Bai Ting raised her hand timidly. ”Is it… when these anchor points reach a critical number, will the ’gods’ people talk about truly descend into the human world?”

Although her voice was soft, it was exceptionally clear in the deathly silent conference room.

A flash of admiration crossed Lin Cang’s eyes. ”That’s correct.”

He snapped his fingers, and the hologram switched to a set of complex energy curves. ”Just as Investigator Bai said, each red dot is a ’divine descent channel’ currently in formation.”

The air in the conference room seemed to have frozen.

Every captain went pale—they were already struggling with all their might to fight those mysterious UMAs, and now they had to face even more terrifying ”deities”?

It was as absurd as ants trying to stop a tsunami.

Li Gang’s fists clenched, making a creaking sound. ”Then aren’t we…”

”There is no need to be so pessimistic.” Director Jiang spoke up suddenly, his voice steady and powerful. ”Headquarters established a special research group thirty years ago.” He scanned the group, his gaze like torches. ”We are not without a chance of winning.”

”What method?” Li Gang looked up abruptly.

”Those cultists can obtain power from the evil gods they worship…” Lin Cang’s voice was low and dangerous. ”Why can’t we follow suit?”

This statement exploded in the conference room like a thunderclap.

Iron Lady stood up abruptly, her chair clattering to the floor. ”Are you crazy?! Begging for power from monsters and evil gods just like those cultists?!”

Lin Cang’s mouth curled slightly, revealing a meaningful smile. ”Who says a god must be an evil god? Among the many Divine Entities, there also exist benevolent ones willing to coexist with humanity.”

In the corner of the conference room, the sixth captain, who had been silent the whole time, suddenly spoke up.

The one-eyed man stared fixedly at Lin Cang with his only remaining eye. ”Why would those gods help us for no reason?”

His voice was as hoarse as sandpaper rubbing together. ”In all the cult incidents we’ve handled, those believers used human sacrifices to exchange for power.”

Lin Cang walked slowly toward the holographic projector, his slender fingers tapping lightly on the control panel. ”You’ve fallen into a cognitive trap—not all Divine Entities crave flesh and souls.”

The projection switched to a set of complex energy spectral charts. ”Just as humans have different needs, Divine Entities also have their own preferences. Some require sacrifices, while others only need pure faith.”

In truth, there was one more thing Lin Cang didn’t say: in the eyes of those deities, we are no different from ants. The vast majority of deities that help us humans do so simply out of amusement, or because they are hostile forces to those evil gods—nothing more.
