I Created a Containment Object at the Start, and Became a God

8: UMA—1931, the Kobold!Lin Zhi’s heart stirred upon hearing their words.

It seemed this world was truly complex—it didn’t just contain unknown creatures, but also the ”Deities” these people spoke of.

Furthermore, he caught one crucial detail: They were still unable to descend directly.

While his thoughts churned, his steps did not halt.

The hem of his black trench coat fluttered slightly in the windless alley, and with every step, the gravel on the ground would mysteriously float for a moment before falling back down.

The two Monkey God Cultists desperately tried to curl backward, but they were unable to move as all four of their limbs were broken.

The Three Monkey Markings on their foreheads were now red and hot like branding irons, even emitting faint wisps of scorched odor.

”G-God... God Venerable, spare me!” The Thin Monkey suddenly cried out in collapse. ”This subordinate was blind and offended God Venerable!”

Although the Giant Man said nothing, his bloodshot eyes were filled with terror.

As core members of the Monkey God Sect, they knew better than ordinary people what ”Deity” meant—it was an existence that transcended physical laws, the supreme being that mortals could not look upon directly.

Lin Zhi crouched down in front of the two men.

This simple action caused the surrounding air to ripple like water, and the shadows in the alley converged beneath his feet as if they were alive.

The two men were half-lying down; logically, they should have been able to clearly see his face at this distance.

But the strange thing was that even though he was close enough to touch, Lin Zhi’s face remained shrouded in that layer of mist—it wasn’t due to any physical obstruction, but rather that their eyes and brains were fundamentally unable to process the image, like trying to clearly see a character’s face in a dream.

”The Monkey God will protect us...” The Giant Man suddenly muttered, seemingly trying to bolster his courage, but his trembling voice betrayed him.

Lin Zhi’s heart stirred.

It seemed this Monkey God Sect worshipped some kind of ape-like Deity?

”Oh? Your Monkey God...” Wen Wudao’s voice sounded as if it came from a great distance, yet also directly in their minds. ”Have you seen him?”

The two Monkey God Cultists were visibly stunned.

They had not expected this ”Deity” to ask such a question.

The Thin Monkey was the first to react: ”N-no! How could small fry like us be qualified to behold the Monkey God’s true face!”

He swallowed, ”Only the High Priest... can communicate with the God...”

The Giant Man quickly added, ”During every Divine Descent Ceremony, the High Priest enters the Shrine deep within the Holy Temple. We can only kneel and worship outside...”

Wen Wudao nodded thoughtfully.

He extended his index finger and lightly poked the Giant Man’s biceps, which were bulging like rock.

This casual action caused both cultists to stiffen—under the touch of that slender finger, the Giant Man’s seemingly indestructible muscles surprisingly rippled like water.

”These abilities...” Wen Wudao withdrew his finger, ”Were they bestowed by your Monkey God?”

”No! They weren’t!” The Thin Monkey quickly denied, terrified of being misunderstood as blaspheming their own deity. ”This... this is the ’Holy Blood Potion’ developed by the Sect’s laboratory... We only injected the improved J-7 Version...”

The moment the words left his mouth, he regretted it.

Leaking the Sect’s secrets was punishable by flaying! But facing the oppressive power of this mysterious existence, he couldn’t control his tongue at all.

The eyebrows beneath Wen Wudao’s mask slightly lifted.

Laboratory? Potion? It seemed the Monkey God Sect was more organized than he had imagined; not only did they have a belief system, but also supporting research capabilities... Seeing his silence, the two cultists thought they had found a chance to survive. The Thin Monkey, ignoring the severe pain of his broken limbs, frantically kowtowed:

”God Venerable, please see clearly! We truly had no intention of offending your territory!” His eyes darted around, and he suddenly pointed to the little girl trembling in the iron cage not far away.

”That... that 1931! We are willing to offer her to God Venerable as compensation! The Sect’s documents say she possesses the ’Transformation’ ability, which is very rare!”

The Giant Man quickly chimed in, ”Yes, yes! We don’t want her anymore! We offer her entirely to God Venerable!”

Lin Zhi’s gaze shifted toward the rusty iron cage.

The little girl in the cage was curled up in the corner, her bruised arms visible beneath her dirty dress, looking pitiful and harmless.

But he knew the truth beneath that fragile exterior—just ten minutes ago, she had been a two-meter-tall Kobold monster.

Bai Hu’s breathing suddenly became heavy.

Lin Zhi didn’t need to turn around to feel the almost materialized killing intent—this newly subdued subordinate’s muscles were taut like steel, his sharp claws unconsciously extended and retracted, and the human faces on his fleshy wings were all contorted into expressions of rage.

”Master...” Bai Hu’s voice was squeezed out through gritted teeth. ”She is... the mongrel that ate my younger brother...”

Lin Zhi glanced sideways.

He remembered Bai Hu mentioning this enmity.

”I remember.” Lin Zhi only said these three words, but it caused Bai Hu to immediately lower his head, forcefully suppressing his boiling killing intent.

Even though the fire of vengeance was almost burning through his rationality, he dared not act rashly in front of his Master.

Lin Zhi took a step forward. Without any process of acceleration, his figure abruptly appeared in front of the iron cage, as if space were merely paper that could be folded at will for him.

The little girl in the cage suddenly looked up, a flicker of wariness crossing her dirty small face.

Lin Zhi extended his index finger and gently flicked the iron bars.

”Clang—”

The crisp metallic vibration echoed through the alley.

Following this sound, the little girl’s body began to convulse violently as if she had been electrocuted!

Horrible lumps swelled beneath her skin, and her bones emitted a grating ”crack, crack” sound. In the blink of an eye, she transformed from a frail child into a ferocious Kobold—

Its body, over two meters tall, was covered in gray-black coarse fur. A massive mastiff head sat atop its humanoid torso, and drool dropped from its jagged fangs, corroding small pits into the concrete ground.

”Roar—!!” The Kobold frantically slammed against the iron cage, bending and deforming the thick iron bars.

But the next second, when its blood-red eyes met Lin Zhi’s dark-gold gaze in the mist, its violent movements suddenly froze.

Its thick dog legs began to tremble uncontrollably, and its massive body slowly curled backward, finally retreating into the corner like a frightened puppy, whimpering sadly.

”Interesting,” Lin Zhi commented softly.

Lin Zhi stood with his hands clasped behind his back, a playful curve forming at the corner of his mouth.

”You said she has the Transformation ability...” His voice carried a metallic texture, echoing through the narrow alley. ”Does that mean she can transform into more than just a Kobold?”

The monster trapped in the iron cage suddenly began to tremble violently.

Its massive mastiff head was bowed low, and its sharp claws dug deep grooves into the concrete, yet it still dared not look up and meet those dark-gold eyes.

”Whimper...”

Lin Zhi let out a soft laugh and suddenly raised his hand. A severed limb from a bandit, torn off by Bai Hu earlier, flew through the air and landed with a ”thud” in front of the cage.

The Kobold’s nostrils flared violently, and drool dripped from its fangs, but the moment it detected the blood, it recoiled as if shocked.

It curled up in the deepest part of the cage, whimpering like a puppy, all its gray-black coarse fur standing on end.

”No! No, that beast just looks like that.” The Thin Man stammered.

Lin Zhi’s fingertip paused slightly.

”Oh?” He slowly turned around, looking at the two trembling Monkey God Cultists, his voice low and dangerous. ”Are you saying... her current appearance is her true form?”

The Thin Man frantically nodded, his voice trembling: ”Y-yes! It doesn’t transform into a Kobold; it is that monster! After it devours a human, it can perfectly replicate the victim’s appearance, memories, and even imitate their Supernatural Abilities...”

”Oh? So it ate a little girl and took on her appearance.” His voice held a hint of amusement.

”It... it devoured a real child and transformed!” The Thin Monkey Cultist quickly explained. ”Its true form is that Kobold monster! The Sect’s files record that it has devoured at least seventeen people and can perfectly mimic the appearance of five of them!”

As if to verify these words, the Kobold in the cage suddenly began to tremble violently.

Its ferocious dog head shook painfully, the gray-black fur receded like a tide, and its bones emitted a sickening, twisting sound—in the blink of an eye, it reverted to the appearance of the frail little girl.

Only this time, her eyes had completely changed.

”Big Brother...” The little girl curled up in the corner of the cage, tears carving two clean streaks down her dirty face. ”Save me... they...”

Her voice was childish and helpless; anyone who heard it would feel pity.

Bai Hu’s sharp claws instantly stabbed into the iron cage: ”Shut up! You disgusting monster!” He turned to Lin Zhi. ”Master, don’t be fooled by her! This mongrel can even copy the victim’s memories!”

Lin Zhi suddenly laughed.

The laughter sounded as if it came from the deepest layer of the abyss, causing the ”little girl” in the cage to instantly freeze.

”Fascinating.” He slowly crouched down, his eyes in the mist looking directly at her. ”Let me see... exactly how many people have you eaten?”

Before his voice faded, the Nightmare’s auditory pollution emanated from Lin Zhi’s mouth.

”Aaaah—!!!”

A piercing scream instantly tore through the night sky.

The ”little girl’s” body twisted and deformed like dough kneaded by an unseen hand. Blurry human faces—of the elderly, women, and youths—constantly bulged beneath her skin, finally settling on the face of a boy wearing a school uniform.

Seeing this, Bai Hu trembled violently: ”Xiao... Xiao Yu?!” That was the exact appearance of his younger brother before he died!

The monster in the cage could no longer maintain its human form. In agonizing pain, it reverted to its Kobold body and rolled around frantically...
