I Created a Containment Object at the Start, and Became a God

12: God! Does He really exist? After handling everything at the scene, they rushed back to the Investigation Bureau.

As Li Gang and Bai Ting walked to the entrance of the Bureau of Anomalous Affairs Investigation’s Beihai Branch, a black special operations vehicle sped up and screeched to a halt beside them.

The car door opened, and a man about Li Gang’s age jumped out, his tactical vest stained with dark red blood.

He was Zhong Tao, the captain of the Third Squad, who joined the Investigation Bureau at the same time as Li Gang. They had been old friends and rivals for many years.

”Old Li!” Zhong Tao walked over quickly, patting Li Gang’s shoulder forcefully. ”I heard you guys were also on a mission? How were the gains? What kind of monster did you catch this time?”

Li Gang didn’t answer directly. Instead, he frowned and asked, ”How was your side?”

Zhong Tao’s expression immediately darkened. ”We arrived too late. By the time we got there, that guy was long gone, leaving behind...”

He made a disgusted face. ”A family of five. Three children under one year old were all skinned, the mistress was disemboweled, and only the master was still breathing. He’s currently being resuscitated in the Medical Department.”

He wiped the sweat from his forehead with lingering fear. ”That scene was too bizarre... It didn’t look like the work of an ordinary UMA at all.

The victims’ internal organs were hollowed out, and some kind of... symbol was drawn on the wall with blood.”

Bai Ting immediately became alert. ”A symbol? What kind of symbol?”

”It looked like a twisted branch with many eyes around it,” Zhong Tao gestured. ”The Technical Department is analyzing it, saying it might be related to a cult...”

Li Gang and the other two passed through the Investigation Bureau’s heavy blast-proof door, and the electronic lock emitted a soft ”ding” sound.

The pale light in the corridor stretched their shadows long.

”A new cult?” Li Gang’s brows were tightly furrowed, his tactical boots echoing dully on the floor.

Zhong Tao nodded, casually tossing his blood-stained tactical gloves into the disinfection channel. ”It should be. Anyway, this is the first time we’ve discovered a cult using this kind of symbol within our Dragon Country.”

He gestured to the eerie pattern. ”A twisted branch covered in eyes, it just looks unsettling.

The Technical Department said this symbol has mental contamination properties; two analysts started bleeding from their noses after half an hour of looking at it.”

Upon hearing this, Bai Ting immediately pulled up the scanner on her tablet. ”Captain! Let me scan it! My anti-contamination training score is A+!”

Li Gang stopped the eager Bai Ting with a hand and turned to Zhong Tao. ”Since the ’March Incident’ erupted a hundred years ago, these cults that worship evil gods have become more and more numerous, simply endless.”

His voice carried suppressed anger, and the scar on his forehead glowed a sinister red under the lights.

Bai Ting nodded while frantically recording the White Tiger’s data on her tablet, then suddenly interjected, ”Captain, do you think evil gods really exist? It seems like our training didn’t definitively state the existence of gods.”

”Whether evil gods exist or not has always been unknown,” Zhong Tao interrupted her dismissively, grabbing three cans of coffee from the vending machine. ”I think those cultists are just using evil gods as a front to control those ignorant followers.”

He pulled open a can, tilted his head back, and took a big gulp, his Adam’s apple bobbing. ”Even more ridiculous is that some cults actually worship UMAs, treating those man-eating monsters as deities. Don’t you think that’s laughable?”

Suddenly, hurried footsteps came from the end of the corridor. A technician in a white lab coat ran over in a panic, holding an evidence bag that was still dripping blood.

”Captain Zhong! Captain Li! The survivor from the Medical Department... he’s awake!” The technician’s voice was trembling. ”But... he’s talking nonsense!”

The three exchanged glances and immediately quickened their pace. After passing through three security doors, they arrived at the Medical Department’s isolation ward.

Through the bulletproof glass, they could see a man covered in bandages, restrained to the bed with straps.

His eyes were wide open, the whites bloodshot, and he was struggling hysterically.

”He’s here... He’s here!” The survivor twisted frantically, blood seeping through the bandages. ”I saw His eyes... on the moon! On every leaf! On...”

His voice suddenly choked, and his neck arched backward at an impossible angle, revealing a bizarre symbol on his throat—the very branch-like pattern Zhong Tao had described, now emitting a faint red glow.

”Damn it!” Li Gang slammed the emergency button. ”Medical team! Immediate sedative injection!”

But it was too late.

The survivor’s body suddenly convulsed violently, and all monitoring instruments simultaneously blared piercing alarms. Countless small lumps bulged under his skin, as if countless insects were wriggling beneath.

”Bang!”

With a muffled thud, the survivor’s head exploded like a ripe watermelon. Blood and brain matter splattered across the observation window, mixed with some black, wriggling substance.

Bai Ting’s tablet fell to the floor with a ”clatter.” She trembled, pointing at the black substance. ”This... this is...”

The black substance was forming a clear pattern on the observation window—a twisted branch, surrounded by eyes.

Even more terrifying, all the ”eyes” were rotating, turning in unison to look at the three people outside the glass.

Zhong Tao’s coffee can was crushed out of shape, brown liquid dripping through his fingers. The seasoned veteran’s face was pale as death. ”Damn it... this is serious...”

Li Gang stared intently at the rotating eyes.

”When Vilu-Tashi, the Pregnant One of Branch Eyes, opens His thousand eyes, the defiled old world shall be reborn beneath His tentacles!”

A bizarre and unknown voice suddenly appeared.

The isolation ward instantly fell into dead silence.

Two doctors were touched by the vile substance, and their pupils quickly contracted violently. One of them’s lips trembled, unconsciously repeating the forbidden name: ”Vilu-Tashi... Vilu...”

”Shut up!” Li Gang roared, but it was already too late.

The doctor’s expression suddenly froze, and his tongue twitched eerily. Under everyone’s horrified gaze, a small lump suddenly bulged on his tongue tip, stretching the skin until it shone.

With a soft ”plop,” a woody spore pierced his tongue tip.

Blood dripped down his chin, but the spore grew at a visible rate, instantly forming a small, tender green branch.

The doctor painfully clawed at his throat but couldn’t make any sound.

His vocal cords were entwined by hair-thin tree bark, which continued to grow, spreading deeper into his trachea like a living thing.

Bai Ting covered her mouth, her stomach churning. She saw faint green sap seeping from the corners of the doctor’s eyes, and fine woody textures began to appear on the surface of his eyeballs.

”Quick! Isolation procedure!” Li Gang slammed the red button on the wall, and the blast-proof glass was instantly sealed by a heavy metal plate.

But at the very last moment, everyone saw an even more terrifying scene—

The ”Pregnant One of Branch Eyes” pattern formed by the black substance on the observation window suddenly came alive. The twisted branches writhed like tentacles, and all the eyes simultaneously turned towards the mutating doctor.

With a crisp ”crack,” the doctor’s head suddenly split open, not exploding like before, but rather, like a seed sprouting, countless tiny branches drilled out from the skull’s cracks.

These branches were covered with tiny eyeballs, each one constantly rolling.

Zhong Tao abruptly pulled Bai Ting back. ”Everyone evacuate! Activate A-level contamination protocol!”

Alarms blared in the corridor, and red warning lights cast a demonic glow on everyone’s faces.

The hazmat team rushed in fully armed, but they didn’t even dare to approach the sealed ward.

”This... this is no longer conventional contamination...” Bai Ting’s voice trembled and was almost inaudible with excitement. ”This is... divine contamination... Do evil gods really exist?”

Li Gang’s tactical terminal suddenly flashed wildly. He looked down, and his face instantly turned ashen—

On the monitoring screen, the doctor, now completely tree-like, was slowly standing up.

His skin had completely lignified, and countless fissures had opened on his torso, with a rotating eye in each fissure.

Even more terrifying, he was using his branch-like fingers to carve that twisted symbol onto the ward wall.

And the black substance that had previously splattered the observation window was now spreading through the ventilation ducts as if alive... ”Contact headquarters immediately!” Li Gang’s voice was terribly hoarse. ”This isn’t an ordinary UMA contamination event... We might have truly... touched an evil god...”
