A Sorcerer’s Journey

Chapter 541: Life is About to End

Vivian had clearly felt that her life was coming to an end.

This was a sense of weakness coming from the soul. Accompanying the occurrence of this feeling was the obvious aging changes of the body day after day. Vivian could smell her own death approaching.

She would probably not live for another year, she was going to die…

With a squeak, the door was pushed open. It was the children of the orphanage who had returned from the Knights Teaching Academy. There were thirty seven children of all ages, with four of them being sixteen years old. After graduating as Knights today, this would be their last day staying in the orphanage.

Upon smelling the fragrance of rice, the children rushed forward as if they were starving.

“Grandma Vivian, what are we eating today? It smells so good!”

“Grandma Vivian, Brother Muyi got a separate interview with the town governor!”

The growing children surrounded Vivian, looking at this kind-hearted grandmother.

Every year, since Grimm had opened this orphanage, Vivian had been living here with these children, witnessing their growth day by day, seeing them get older every day.

Perhaps this was to make up for a trace of regret in her heart?

Before she was a Sorceress-Apprentice, Vivian did not experience too many ups and downs. After having safely arrived at the Black Isotta Tower Sorcerer Academy, she had completed the invention of the Eternally Projecting Crystal Ball with her outstanding intelligence, which allowed Peranos to see Grimm’s shadow in her, taking her in as his disciple.

With both persistence and dedication to the Sorcerer’s path within her heart, Vivian had never fallen in love nor experienced true love, because there was one thing in the teachings of thousands of Sorcerers, which was the mistake of falling in love among Sorcerer-Apprentices.

Especially what had been told by Master Peranos in secret, about Brother Grimm’s mistake of falling in love during his time as a Sorcerer-Apprentice…

When it came to love between Sorcerer-Apprentices, if one of them were to be promoted as an official Sorcerer, while the other was still a Sorcerer-Apprentice, the pain of life and death between lovers would enhance an official sorcerer’s psychological growth path by a factor of one hundred or one thousand times!

Between life as a Sorcerer and a Sorcerer-Apprentice, there was a qualitative change in life, just like summer insects fleeting before people’s eyes.

This was exactly what had happened to Vivian. She rejected all the good things that might have happened, and adhered to the solitary Sorcerer path step by step.

Now, Vivian’s eyes were unwittingly wet.

When there was no pain, it also meant that there was no joy. She refused all the good things because she was afraid of the pain of the quality of life that was brought by death. However, she found that she herself had not completed the so-called quality of life. At this time, she silently looked back and found that there were not much memories left in her life’s journey.

All her life, she had been following the footprints of her predecessors. She had never lived her own life, it was always filled with the memories of other people!

‘If I could have another chance to live… that would be wonderful!’

“Grandma Vivian, what happened to you?”

Muyi, who also felt a surge in his heart, found an anomaly in Vivenne’s hands while taking a plate of food from her, and asked in doubt.

After today’s Knight Assessment, Muyi had become an adult.

According to the rules of the orphanage, this meant that Muyi must leave the orphanage.

Waking up from her absent-mindedness, Vivian shook her head and smiled, “Nothing, it’s easy to get distracted when you are old. Heh heh, my little genius, how was today’s assessment, I heard that the town governor interviewed you alone?”

“Yes.”

After Muyi nodded, he wanted to say something, but he did not know how to open his mouth.

“What’s wrong, is it about leaving this place? Or is the town governor not paying enough attention to a Legendary Knight like you?”

Vivian placed a large spoonful of vegetable into Muyi’s rice bowl. Over the years, Vivian had watched this little kid grow from a lonely orphan after the death of his parents into a Legendary Knight that was receiving a lot of attention now.

Every child in the orphanage was like Vivian’s own child.

“Eat more, or it will be difficult for you to come here to eat my food in the future.”

Vivian said with a smile.

After eating a few mouthful of food from the rice bowl, Muyi glanced at the other three absent-minded Knight graduates with a sigh.

“It is true that he is reluctant to leave. Since Governor Grimm’s appearance, everyone has witnessed the changes in Moth Frog Town and he has gained all the respect from the people. The governor has even opened this orphanage, which has never been a great deal in other cities. For us, this is our home. ”

After much hesitation, Muyi continued, “The governor gave me two choices, Grandma Vivian, how do you think I should choose?”

Vivian looked at Muyi and said, “Oh? Which two choices?”

“The first is to give me the position of a Knight Commander and the identity of a noble, with no strings attached. The second is to allow me to serve as the governor’s attendant for forty years, and then gave me a powerful opportunity to truly understand the Sorcerers World.”

Muyi looked at Vivian with keen sparkling eyes, hoping to get some hints from the respected old lady as if she was a relative.

Vivian smiled and touched Muyi’s hair.

“My child, you know Governor Grimm’s identity as an official Sorcerer and my identity as a Sorcerer-Apprentice, but do you know my relationship with him? Do you know his achievements and status in the Sorcerers World?”

Muyi shook his head, looking confused.

Vivian said kindly and gently, “Governor Grimm is a really talented Sorcerer, my fellow senior apprentice. We have the same mentor, but his achievement is something I need to look up to my whole life! He is the great Demon-Hunter Sorcerer who has a Rank-1 Honor Badge. I don’t know about his specific achievements, but in figurative terms, I am afraid that many foreign creatures had been affected by him due to this and have died, numbering more than all the people in Moth Frog Town!

To come to think of it, Vivian shook her head again and said, “No, it’s a hundred times more than this!”

Muyi opened his mouth wide, becoming speechless.

Vivian, while passing plates of food to the other children, said, “Now you know how to choose, right? Just cherish this hard-won opportunity.”

“Ok!”

Muyi nodded.

Grimm was naturally very clear about Vivian’s life coming to an end.

Pacing in the room, Grimm seemed to be hesitating and worried about some matters.

About Vivian not being promoted as an official Sorceress, it might be due to Vivian’s own problems. Vivian also knew this clearly, but her “poison” against Vivian had made Grimm feel guilty and he blamed himself for that.

The truth of the matter was, Vivian might not have qualified as an official Sorceress because she was “poisoned”. No one would ever know what the actual cause was.

Suddenly, Grimm stopped and took a deep breath before gritting his teeth, saying, “Well, I’ll just give it a shot!”

On one hand, it was due to the guilt he felt for what he had done. On the other hand, because of his love for this junior sister-apprentice, Grimm did not want the tragedy of Lefay’s death happening to her as well…

Grimm decided to try it out in accordance with the plans he had conceived over the years.

Perhaps, there were really some opportunities to help Vivian become an official Sorceress?

Grimm was now different from what he used to be, because Grimm knew a Celestial Sorceress who could break the balanced law!
