A Sorcerer’s Journey

Chapter 241: The Shadow Calamity XVIIITranslator: EndlessFantasy Translation Editor: EndlessFantasy Translation

Charge!

Faced with the boundless enigmatic hurricane, although even the low-level sorcerers were able to tell that this was a sealed land of some sort, the Battle Command, under the purview of the Stigmata Sorcerers, still ordered the charge. The void fortress started propelling into the hurricane.

Rumble!

When the metal walls of the void fortress came in contact with the enigmatic hurricane, it produced an excruciatingly loud noise, as if metals were scraping against each other. After some vibrations, the void fortress went into the hurricane without any resistance. The endless flocks of Amonros around could only look on as they stopped in their path. There was a sense of regret in their frantic behavior.

“Hmm? The feeling of these enigmatic energies… why do they feel like a projection from the mysterious link within the body that usually happens after an Enigmatic Amonro casts an enigmatic spell?”

Grimm had some thoughts in his mind about his current situation.

The first thing that came into Grimm’s mind was his discovery in the use of a reversed enigmatic energy system during his research in the stone laboratory. This could potentially be one of the core knowledge in Grimm’s further studies on a Chimera’s self-evolution.

Secondly, the enigmatic energy’s characteristics that could bend space and meld within the shadows were of high research values to the common arcane sorcerers, though they were not within Grimm’s priorities.

The hurricane continued to blow fiercely.

Despite having the protection of the void fortress, the hurricane that was blowing with extreme force was still able to penetrate through the barriers of the void fortress. It tore across the groups of demon-hunting sorcerers, soul slaves, and mechanical marionettes. The demon-hunting sorcerers were forced to set up their barriers.

“Uwaaa….”

At the void fortress’s square, more than ten fire-element soul slaves suddenly let out an agonizing cry. Following an explosive sound, their bodies were torn apart by the enigmatic hurricane into tiny pieces of fragments. Almost instantly, their blood mists were dispersed into the wind by the enigmatic hurricane.

The demon-hunting sorcerers and the rest of the soul slaves who had their sorcerer’s barriers set up had it better than the others. The mechanical marionettes had no problem in the hurricane at all. They returned into the void fortress in an organized manner.

Roar!

A huge Fiery Rhino was painfully struggling to cover its skin with the energy from the fire element to withstand the onslaught of the enigmatic hurricane.

However, the fire elemental energy from the Level 2 fiery rhino was too little compared to the seemingly endless supply of enigmatic energy from the hurricane. It was barely struggling before wounds finally opened up on its thick, armory skin.

The sorcerers could not care any less about their soul slaves.

Millie was carefully sensing something. She exclaimed in a surprised manner,” The enigmatic hurricane seems to have a powerful dispersion effect against fire elements. Could it be that this piece of sealed land is the resting place of the world’s Lava Giants?”

“Possible.” Grimm was recovering his magical power as he casually replied.

The void fortress was completely engulfed in the hurricane. But they still couldn’t get hold of Victor. It was most likely that Machine Heart, who was one of the Desperators who went through the arduous training of the sorcerer’s apprenticeship together with Grimm had unfortunately fallen in his first demon-hunting expedition.

A sigh in silence.

Dangers and opportunities exist equally within the demon-hunters’ expedition mission. A weak demon hunter must, at all costs survive the most fragile period in the beginning before being able to execute his expedition missions better and safer in the future.

Hence, if they could get through this demon expedition, they should properly plan ahead on how to spend the sorcerer’s essence that they’ve gathered.

“Attention to all Bright and Dark Sorcerers— we have a total of seven hourglasses’ time. Recover your magical powers now, there will be a new battle waiting for you all after this!” The Battle Command gave out an order.

The Bright Sorcerers let out a helpless sigh. They took out their Magic Stones and seized the moment to recover their magical powers.

The Dark Sorcerers, on the other hand, didn’t need the Battle Command’s orders. Their strong situational awareness had led them to recover their magical powers as soon as they found a safe place.

…

A day later.

Grimm, who had fully recovered his magical power suddenly took out his crystal ball. After receiving magical communications, Second Master Deidarion’s image appeared on the crystal ball.

“Grimm, despite the misfortune that happened in the demon-hunting expedition, you still managed to stay safe. Master Peranos sure found himself a good disciple again!”

Beneath his wavy black hair, Deidarion’s face appeared like a leather ball that had been stitched together, revealing a hideous but consoling smile.

Again?

The second master was probably referring to the eldest apprentice, Sister Quiet Spring.

Grimm humbly gave his salutations. He asked in a soft manner,” Master, how long will this world’s Shadow Calamity last? Where is the void fortress headed? What’s the next battle that Battle Command talked about?”

A gentle smile followed.

Deidarion explained,” If nothing unforeseen happens, the Shadow Calamity that exhausts the principle of the world could go on for a few more months. This was said by the great Tomb Segja herself. As for where the void fortress is headed, it is a place known as the Perishing Volcanoes, the resting place of the Amonro’s rival clans—Lava Giants. Our mission is to assist one of the leaders of the Lava Giants to overturn the rule of the King of Lava Giants to gain their support.

A bright glimmer shined across Grimm’s eyes beneath the pale-grey spiral of the Mask of Truth.

The Lava Giant clan?

No wonder the void fortress Battle Command used the Amonros’ Tears of Sorrow. It seems that the Battle Command had decided on an alliance with the Lava Giants to depose the Amonro’s rule of this world.

The clan of the Lava Giants would then replace the positions of the Fallen Amonros of the Shadow Empire. After the demon-hunting expedition, they would become the new rulers of this world.

Sss…

By the looks of things, the Amonros were really on the brink of extinction.

Grimm let out a cruel smile. “Those foolish Amonros. If only they followed the Fallen Amonros of the Shadow Empire. Although they were enslaved, they could at the very least continue to procreate and keep their bloodlines. But now… they could only become one of the specimens of the Sorcerer World!”

After witnessing one of the hidden weapons of the void fortress, namely the mechanical marionettes, Grimm had no thought of failure during the demon-hunting expedition.

Conquering the lowly world was only a matter of how much the Stigmata sorcerers were willing to spend.

After a few hourglasses.

As the force of the enigmatic hurricane was slowing to a calm, a boiling heat wave covered the skies after a moment of silence. The Hearkening Whisperer, Tomb Segja, Tomb Averer, and the Jyoronshan flew out at the same time from within the void fortress!

The crushing aura of an advanced lifeform was wildly unleashed at this moment.

Grimm and Millie stood side by side at the edge of the void fortress, overlooking the mysterious, calm land that was sealed by the enigmatic hurricane.

Rivers of boiling lava flowed across the great land. There were rumbling chains of volcanoes laid across the land. Pure fire crystals were abundant, while tall, huge Lava Giants were going around their business.

Occasionally, on the land and in the skies, creatures that lived in the fiery continents, such as the bloodfalls lavawyverns, huge fire bats, and fire lizards were resting in the peaceful, secluded world.

However, as the huge void fortress that spanned tens of thousands of meters across pushed itself out from the enigmatic hurricane, it exuded a terrifying presence, as if evil itself had descended, like a source of corruption that had invaded every corner of the world. It was that eye-catching and terror-inducing.

Its presence made all the fire creatures in the peaceful space raise their heads up to look at the huge metal object that had suddenly appeared in the sky and made their very souls tremble.

Some of the laboring huge Lava Giants were momentarily stunned. They screamed out in endless terror, shouting at the others to disperse. Lava spilled from their feet as rumbling sounds accompanied each step.

At the lava lake, bloodfalls lavawyverns that were resting in a carefree manner frantically dove into the bottom of the lava lake. The other fire creatures fled in the opposing direction of the void fortress.

An emotion known as fear spread out in what was originally a peaceful, secluded space.

The source of the fear was the sorcerer’s dimensional void fortress that was hovering in the air.

At the same time, on top of the void fortress, tens of remaining Fallen Amonros let out an agonizing cry. Their life forces were being sucked out, as if they were cursed. They were aging in an accelerated manner; their wrinkled skins were letting out a dense air of death.

Even the Fallen Golden Amonros which survived the Tears of Sorrow were looking lifeless. They looked as if they had shriveled and had no life force left on their bodies.

Suddenly, the Tomb Averer let out hundreds of dark red energy beams and mercilessly killed all the remaining Amonros on the void fortress.

Most of the demon-hunting sorcerers had no idea what happened. But a few of them who knew their place had expected it. It was only natural.

“The Perishing Volcanoes, here we are.”

Following the voice that came from one of the Stigmata Sorcerers, the scorching hot sun shone on the void fortress. The groups of demon-hunting sorcerers that had experienced months of Shadow Calamity looked up to the skies of this world at the eternal sun that had never set.
