A Sorcerer’s Journey

Chapter 202: Underground Nesting Technique?

The remaining Golden Amonros howled while disappearing into the various holes in the ground of the square. Meanwhile, Grimm flashed his eyes and dismissed the two Fire Bats that were lingering around him.

Poof!

Grimm’s scorching hot body temperature had yet to lower. It continued to grill the surface of the flesh barrier that created a huge amount of smoke and putrid burning smell. He bent down to pick up a few Enigmatic Stones.

On the other side, the half-eagle sorcerer folded his wings and landed next to Grimm. The smoke and burning odor cleared along with the wind created by the flaps of his wings.

“This is such a surprise! I didn’t expect you to crack the Enigmatic Seal. If… If you agree, I’m willing to exchange your relevant Sorcery knowledge with a hundred Sorcerer Essences.” The sorcerer said with anticipation.

Normally, the basic gain of a Demon-Hunter from an expedition was thirty Sorcerer Essences. However, in real life, they always had to fulfill countless additional responsibilities and would receive additional rewards in return. Together with the personally plundered items on the side, these additional benefits far exceeded their basic gains.

As for the Dark Sorcerers who were known for their lethal, independent, destructive and will in plundering, their minimum gain from each Demon-Hunter Expedition could be more than hundreds of Sorcerer Essences.

Additional benefits on the side?

Unlimited!

If they were lucky to discover and own rare treasures during an expedition, their rewards would simply be countless. For example, it was just like barging into the space of the Sorcerer World to embezzle the Destiny Lever.

It all depended on the Demon-Hunter’s encounter and the level of their exploration.

Poof!

Another sorcerer landed. He was covered in neon dark blue energy and had purple colored eyes. His body was showing the signs of energy transformation and an unstable condition. That was a common sign for a sorcerer advancing to Level 2.

When a Level 1 Sorcerer advanced to the next level, the initial physical element change often lasted for decades. This allowed each body cell to adapt to the process of energization.

“I’ll give… two hundred Sorcerer Essences!” said the sorcerer in a deep voice.

“You!” The half-eagle sorcerer turned away with a snort.

Grimm shook his head and declined both offers from the two sorcerers who were fighting to acquire his sorcerer knowledge. “I will not trade; I was born with the talent.”

After learning that Grimm had no wish to trade his knowledge, both the sorcerers suppressed their intentions. They nodded politely and said no more to this mysterious, physically well-built, long golden hair sorcerer, who was wearing a gray-and-white spiral mask that only showed his eyes.

The other two sorcerers with unidentified elements slowly flew over to join them. From the scents of their hormones, Grimm realised that both of them were sorceresses, carrying the fragrance of Venus, the Goddess of Love.

Naturally, the four sorcerers looked at Grimm, because when Grimm arrived in this cave, he seemed to know more than the others. Previously when they received information regarding the “Great Bloodfalls Lavawyvern”, there was no mention of the Demonic Blood Moss.

The four arrogant Dark Demon-Hunters followed him with great interest while Grimm said nothing. He slowly raised his arm and extended his index finger. A sparkling tiny light fluttered from his ear and landed on his fingertip.

Grimm worked his sorcery and the tiny light expanded to three centimeters with the replenishment of the water element. It emitted a dim light like a semi-translucent crystal. It looked wonderful.

The other sorcerers looked at the low-level creature and asked, “Is this the spirit of natural elements?”

Grimm whispered to the crystal turtle, “Which of these passages lead to the Lava Lake?”

The crystal turtle silently observed and selected three passages and muttered, “These three passages should all lead to the Lava Lake, and I can feel them from the distant memory of the Lava Giant.

The Lava Giant?

These Dark Sorcerers did not seem to know the history of the ancient world. Lava Giants aroused their interest and they instinctively sensed that it might be an important clue and secretly noted it down mentally.

“Mmm”

Grimm nodded and let the crystal turtle hook onto his earring before he mobilized his Magic Power and sprinted into one of the tunnels.

The others mobilized their magic too and followed closely behind. They imprinted their own markings at the entrance before entering to indicate that there were five of them who had entered the cave.

The diameter of this passage was only about twenty meters, but the wall was constantly wiggling and winding, hence there were many blind spots. The sorcerers slowed down to avoid accidents that might occur.

They did not encounter any attacks along the way. After half an hourglass, their view suddenly broadened and a stretch of spherical plant ‘plantation’ emerged.

‘Hmm?’

‘This is such a large-scale plantation, could it be the food source of the Amonros?’

The other sorcerers had the same speculation. They could not help but to stop and quietly observe this dense palm-size spherical creature. They looked juicy and soft.

They began to collect some samples for their research later.

Creek…!

Grimm’s loud chewing sound caught the other sorcerers’ attention.

Grimm carefully chewed and tasted the plant with his eyes shut. He started analyzing once he opened his eyes, ‘There are some intensifying agents. Long-term consumption can enhance the fire-resistance ability of low level creatures. It might also be effective on knights. However, it does not work on Legendary Knights or sorcerers. This is worthless.’

The sorcerers enviously stared at Grimm. The fact that he dared to try and analyze bizarre specimens from a different world showed that Grimm’s body was extremely resistant to toxicity and parasitism.

“The Shadow Enigmatic world of Amonro seems to belong to the family of underground cavern creatures. These plants can be categorized under the mushroom family and their survival pattern is somewhat similar to the ant colony,” one of the sorceresses then said softly.

The half-eagle sorcerer scanned the land carefully and said, “According to the growth cycle of the mushroom, these multiple-strip mushrooms take about seven days to mature. With such an amount of production, it should be able to support five thousand to six thousand Amonros. If there are two plantations like this and there are about seventy of us on this trip…”

The half-energetic sorcerer leaned over and gently stroked the endless wiggling wall. He seemed to also be analyzing the situation with his knowledge.

A moment later, he who was in the midst of advancing, stood up and shook his head. He assured the rest saying, “From the flowing movement of the flesh barrier, they gathered here from all directions. Logically speaking, there won’t be another plantation like this around here; at least it won’t be nearby.”

Everyone agreed and went deep in thought.

Beneath the facade of the Mask of Truth, Grimm suddenly questioned, “Is the Camphoragate, that we are currently in, considered as a giant lifeform in nature?”

Some sorcerers were astonished but not this advancing sorcerer. “I don’t think so. It doesn’t seem to be equipped with the unique essence that the giant lifeform needs to grow. In fact, I think it looks more like a nesting technique. It appears that there might be data errors on the Camphoragate in our crystal ball,” he remarked.

Indeed, if the Camphoragate was an independent lifeform, its size would at least be similar to the Tree of Life. A lifeform with such a size, even if the status was low, should at least be a Level 4 lifeform.

In the crystal ball, the Camphoragate was listed as a precious resource by the sorcerers. That was because it was formerly known for its power in strategic underground defense.

If one could locate and provide correct information of a strategic level resource, it would be a piece of honorable information.

Although everyone had come to the same conclusion, none of them voiced out and pretended to continue thinking hard.

For such an important strategic information, only the first sorcerer who proposed it would obtain benefits. Hence, everyone had to grasp their chance to decipher the secrets before someone else was rewarded.

Who would it be…

After collecting enough samples, they destroyed all the Amonros’ food resources with their combined magical force. With the guidance from the crystal turtle, they continued advancing into the deeper underground.
