A Sorcerer’s Journey

Chapter 220: ‘Blurred’ Memories

If that was the case, there was no more reason to wait within the Camphroagate Tree’s underground passageway.

With this in mind, Grimm channeled his magic to cast a long-distance teleportation spell. The view in front of him became blurred. In an instant, he appeared on the surface, right next to the Myna.

Hmm?

Grimm noticed a Dark Sorceress hovering above him. Three energy balls in colors of red, violet, and black, the size of a head, were orbiting around her. She was standing on a teapot about two meters in size.

A cloud of mystical white mist elemental energy covered the teapot. Figures of Amonros struggling and lamenting appeared among the white mists. They looked very animated.

The sorceress was barefoot. Underneath her black robe, a pair of red irises were glaring at Grimm through the covers of elemental mists.

‘A Level 2 sorceress?’

Grimm, who was still in his Amonro disguise felt a slight tremble. He quietly manipulated his frame and tried to make his Amonro body stand up to present the manner of a sorcerer. He spoke in his human language, “This is Grimm.”

“Huh? You sure have an interesting morphing spell. Rather clumsy, but not the usual elemental spectral morphing spell.”

The sorceress projected two dark red beams of light and scanned across Grimm’s body incessantly. They appeared to be some kind of sensing methods.

“Hmph!”

Even though the sorceress was an intimidating Level 2 sorceress, her rude behavior annoyed Grimm.

After a cold snub, a large patch of elemental energy spread out around Grimm. He conjured a black robe that covered his Amonro body. He coldly expressed, “If the great sorceress has no other matters, then let us part ways.”

A moment of silence later, the sorceress drank from a pot of wine and nodded. Her body turned into a cloud of green smoke, returning back to the teapot. The teapot flew away at high speed and disappeared in the distance.

The encounter ended in an unhappy note.

“Master, that little b*tch just had to say that you haven’t come out for so many days and that a mere Level 1 sorcerer like you must’ve perished! That was when she proceeded to ignite the chains of magical arrays.”

Grimm looked back at the long, baguette-like Camphroagate Tree. It had been completely leveled. The tree collapsed into the ground.

The Camphoragate Tree’s labyrinth did not reach the underground lava space below and could not have reared ‘precious’ Great Bloodfall Lavawyverns. Although the Amonros within the collapsed cavern did not die instantly, they could only dig themselves out little by little.

This method of destruction…

Grimm pondered for a moment. This kind of destruction only damaged the surface. But it was enough for the dark sorcerer’s sabotage mission.

Still, Grimm couldn’t do as she did.

It was because that Grimm had not mastered the limited flawed spell that took a long time to channel and that he had no large amounts of energy crystals to blow up with.

“Aarrgghhh…”

Horrifying tentacles that had ears, nose, and mouth would occasionally appear for a brief moment from beneath the black, loose, sorcerer robe. They would make a creaking sound as their bones brushed against each other. Grimm was groaning in extreme pain. Moments later, the quivering robe gradually calmed down.

Sky blue, ruby red—a pair of different colored iris slowly opened up.

At the stroke of a single hand, a dark dimensional gap tore open. After quickly taking out the Mask of Truth and his magic staff, the dimensional gap closed to a seal. Grimm quietly put on the Ashen Mask. He shook his body to put on a loose, overall coat that covered his now bald head. The coat only revealed his different-colored pair of eyes beneath his brows.

“Caw! Caw! Master Grimm, if you are concerned about your hair, there are some low-level regenerative spells that could accelerate their growth. I remembered that you took down some notes…”

Grimm shook his head and interrupted the Myna’s suggestions.

“It’s just for a few ten years. Looks are not that important to a sorcerer anyway… hmm? No, perhaps… Lefay [1] might still be alive.” Grimm mumbled.

As Myna heard the name “Lefay”, its tail raised up. As if its plump body was injected with ecstatic juices, the Myna excitedly asked,” Lefay? Who’s Lefay?”

Hmm?

Grimm turned his head and glared at the Myna.

Myna opened its beak and stuck out its tongue like a human. It became child-like as it tore apart a dimensional gap to take out a flesh fruit and started to feed on it.

However, Grimm, whom Myna thought would remain silent, softly said,” Lefay? She was… the girl known as the Vine Caster. A proud, capricious sorcerer apprentice. In those raw, naive, wild days of my teenage years, she became a part of my life that thirsted for an innocent, brilliant, beautiful love.”

“Oh! So you had a mate, Master Grimm!”

Myna was overly excited after hearing this breaking news. Its feathers were almost blowing up. It continued to ask,” Did you guys have a child? A male or a female?”

Myna’s watery eyes were fixated at Grimm.

Flying into the Crimson Sun World, the scorching sun’s rays fell upon Grimm’s body. At the high-speed flight, Grimm flicked the Myna’s head with his finger. Caw! Myna let out a cry.

“What mate? What female or male? Hmph!” Grimm coldly snubbed. He continued, “Lefay and I did not go through any wedding. Though we are not a couple, only she could be my soulmate in my life.”

“Then Master Grimm, after the demon hunter expedition, would you be having a wedding with Lefay?” Myna asked excitedly.

Wedding?

“Maybe…” Grimm’s tone was a little disappointed, or perhaps, perturbed.

It was a sign of immaturity for a sorcerer, what Master Peranos would call ‘an apprentice with the power of a sorcerer’.

Because Grimm didn’t know whether Lefay had graduated to become a proper sorceress or not. He even thought that the chances were slim. Grimm, who couldn’t face such a tragedy, could only escape by becoming a hermit under the Divine Tower of the Seven Rings for two hundred years.

Other than Lefay, what happened to Nina, Johnson, Robin, and the rest of them?

Hmm?

“Little Myna, why do I remember talking about Lefay with you before?” Grimm suddenly asked.

“Impossible! Never, absolutely never…Master, you must have thought wrong…” Myna was shocked. Its head swayed around like the wave, from left to right.

“Really? I don’t remember myself.” Grimm and the Myna became black dots in the fiery Crimson Sun World before vanishing across the horizon.

……

Ten years later.

Still at the Crimson Sun World, Grimm stood unwaveringly in the sky. His once destroyed long, blonde hair had since regrown, blowing in the wind. His calm eyes beneath the Mask of Truth quietly looked afar.

Little Myna stood on his shoulder. Its claw pointed at the Enigmatic Amonro in front, taunting loudly,” Caw! Caw! You bastard grandsons, your daddy Myna is standing here! Come if you want revenge! Come quick! Your daddy’s itching! Caw! Caw!”

As it finished, the Myna raised his big fat butt toward the front. Its wings were flapping endlessly. “Come! Come kill daddy Myna! I’m asking to be harassed, I’m asking to be abused! Caw! Caw!”

A few hundred meters away, in the boundary of the shadow clouds, twelve Enigmatic Amonros were hovering around but dared not step within the Crimson Sun World. The crowd of Amonros was looking at the Myna on top of Grimm’s shoulders that was throwing out provocations. Their eyes were so red that blood almost dripped out from them.

Grimm shook his head in disappointment. After smiling coldly, he turned around and flew to the inner desert of the Crimson Sun World.

The Camphroagate Tree’s underground passageway within the micro shadow region too had been inhumanely infiltrated by Grimm.

Although the Enigmatic Amonros that were immune to vampiric spores had discovered the culprit, they were helpless.

It didn’t matter if there were twelve of them. The Amonros couldn’t unleash their enigmatic powers after leaving the shadow world. Grimm could wipe all of them out.

Grimm had been ‘committing crimes’ in the boundless Crimson Sun World for ten years, destroying underground passageways of Camphroagate Trees around. Now, it was time to check out the latest mission info back at the Shadow Empire.
