A Sorcerer’s Journey

Chapter 218: Dissimilating Non-Human

A month later.

This was a tiny piece of micro-region within the shadow land. A sorcerer would take about half an hourglass’s time to fly through it normally, just a drop in the ocean compared to the endless Crimson Sun World.

Not all micro-regions in the shadow land were conducive for Amonros to live. However, without a question, a long baguette-like Camphoragate Tree a few kilometers away was sufficient to let Grimm know that this micro-region was where a small group of Amonros had gathered.

There was no landmark on the map and the crystal ball’s information had not indicated that this place was subject to the Shadow Empire.

Naturally, Grimm treated it as enemy ground.

Infiltration and sabotage. The Dark Sorcerers’ survival skills and independent battle-readiness were put to the test. Grimm, during his apprenticeship had joined the regional wars before and had an “extensive field experience”. He already had a plan cooked up.

Without a sound, Grimm slowly laid down to prone and hid behind a huge flesh plant. With a sleight of hand, seven to eight tubes of potions appeared.

When it comes to poison, should it be the Crackham’s Tear? Or the Ancient Dead Spirit?

No…

In such an enclosed environment, with high numbers, large area, low-level, low-civilization flocks of creatures, and with Grimm’s experimental materials so far, it was better to use Vampiric Spores.

This biological potion was similar to Demonic Blood Moss. It was more suited to large-area infection in an enclosed space. It required some humidity in the environment. The poison must be ingested to infect the population.

The average human from the sorcerer world would eat cooked food. The sorcerers were a high form of life that had super strong immunity and took raw food most of the time. The Vampiric Spores would only infect low-level creatures and hadn’t had much effect on the human world.

However, if he could sneak inside the Camphoragate Tree and poison the Amonro’s staple of ‘Flesh Mushroom’, the communal raw-food eating low-level Amonros in the Camphoragate Tree would collapse by itself.

It would, however, be quite a test for Grimm to turn into an Amonro using his dissimilation sorcery.

Since the Amonros were non-humans, Grimm would have no way of communicating with them. His disguise could probably be seen through easily.

Seven days later.

At the long baguette-like entrance of the Camphoragate Tree, three Amonros flew away from the shadow land after circling around the sky, as if to conduct some missions.

In the shadows of the flesh plant, Grimm silently watched the three Amonros from his pale-gray Mask of Truth. His legs got off the ground quietly as he followed them slowly.

“Master, among the three, the one with the biggest butt would be perfect. Why don’t you turn into it? Caw! Caw!” Myna tried to lower its voice as it frantically suggested to Grimm.

Grimm paid no heed to the Myna. He silently tailed behind the three Amonros, like a grim reaper waiting to harvest their souls.

Grimm had been lying in wait these few days for a chance like this—a small number of Amonros coming outside. At the same time, their levels should not be too low.

As for the other supplementary supplies such as the minor Disguise Potion, Vampiric Spore Test Potion, and the Camphoragate Traveling Potion—Grimm had already prepared them in advance.

After a few moments, the three Amonros had flown to the boundary of the shadow land into the red sun realm.

What surprised Grimm was that the three Amonros split up in three different directions.

Amonros flying through the Crimson Sun World was similar to sorcerers flying across the endless oceans of the sorcerer world. One must have a clear target or a vector before venturing ahead.

For low-level Amonros which had no flying abilities, going past the Crimson Sun World would be certain death. Therefore if a low-level Amonro could not develop into a shadow legion Amonro that is capable of flying, it could never leave the land it was born in for the rest of its life.

This was akin to the average human in the sorcerer world.

At this time, there was no hesitation in Grimm. He showed himself and suddenly accelerated toward a lone, flying Amonro.

From a distance, the Amonro saw Grimm coming in like a hill crumbling down. It was terrified out of its souls and turned its head to run away. In a matter of breaths, Grimm’s repulsive forces and dimensional manipulation had catapulted him above the Amonro. His palm pressed downward with immense strength.

Huff!

The golden spine tail was like a slithering snake and pierced toward Grimm. Clink! The sorcerer’s semi-translucent barrier flashed across and parried the attack perfectly.

Grimm let out a cold grunt. His cold eyes flashed beneath the Mask of Truth. He caught the neck of the Amonro with a single hand.

Crack! A crisp sound and the Amonro drew its last breath as Grimm broke its neck after a few rounds of struggling.

The hunt was complete. Grimm carried the Amonro corpse back to the micro-region that he had discovered by himself earlier. At the same time, the crystal ball glowed to imprison the Amonro’s soul.

Since Grimm did not conduct any deeper studies into soul sorceries, other than the foreign souls’ language of the ‘devil’s pact’, he was unable to interrogate the imprisoned soul nor steal its memories with advanced spells. However, he could still extract some general information.

Such as… to confirm if the underground Camphroagate Cave was a resistance base against the will of the sorcerers.

An hourglass later.

By discerning the spiritual communications, Grimm determined the underground passageway of the Camphoragate Tree to be an actual Amonro base controlled by the Enigmatic Prophet.

With this information, Grimm no longer hesitated and started to execute his plans.

Turning into an Amonro from human form using dissimilation sorcery was an immense challenge to Grimm’s control of magic. It would be impossible during his apprenticeship days. But now that he was a real sorcerer, and with the aid of the supporting potions, he had the confidence to see it through.

Grimm took off his Mask of Truth, undressed himself, and kept all his clothes along with his magic staff into the dimensional gap. Tsk tsk tsk… under the judgmental eyes of Myna, Grimm’s healthy, strong, stout body was exposed without a cover in this foreign world.

He glared at the Myna. Myna pretended to turn its head and its plump body clumsily.

Grimm held his breath and channeled some magic energy.

By moving the ‘pouch’ of his internal organs, Grimm controlled the rate of his body cells’ mutations.

Right at this moment, his body suddenly became ‘rotten’; a layer of tightly-packed fine scales were like playful creatures under his skin. They intertwined continuously to seal any gaps.

With the help of the supporting potions, the dark-colored scales turned into the Amonro’s golden color.

Huff!

An elemental fire energy rippled across. Grimm took down all his magical barriers. In an instant, his wavy blonde hair turned to ashes.

As this happened, Grimm maintained the calmness and silence of a Dark Sorcerer without emotions.

His eyes were stern. As if tortured by an agonizing pain, Grimm’s body shriveled up. He let out a painful moan while his fingernails were clawing against the rocks on the ground. At the same time, the golden scales were squirming endlessly. He was trying to shrink through dissimilation sorcery.

Crack! Crack! The compression of his skeleton continuously produced a noise.

To put it beautifully, the whole process of dissimilation was like a caterpillar turning into a butterfly. But the actual process was much shorter and without the encompassing cocoon, it was a gory scene.

Bsh…

At the tail section, a bloodied, soft tentacle extruded outward. Grimm, shriveled into a fetal position took a glance behind. He clenched his teeth. Tiny little scales gradually covered the tentacle.

Finally, Grimm’s four limbs shriveled into his body. His skull and skin were moving about endlessly. Strains of muscle tissues were intertwining as if they had a will of their own. His nose and ears were being pulled longer. His eyes moved toward each side of his head.

Roar!

At his roar, suddenly, the strings of the Green Python appeared. Grimm was actually putting a seal on himself. He put a seal on his abdomen, which was trying to return back to his usual tissue composition.

At this moment, Grimm thought about the Eldest Apprentice— Sister Quiet Spring.

The Eldest Apprentice had a white sash around her, could it be that she too put a seal on herself?

Three days later.

In three days’ time, after practicing through the night, Grimm had barely familiarized himself with the dissimilated body. At the same time, he concocted a scent for his body and put a thin layer of Disguise Potion as well as some Camphoragate Traveling Potion over his body.

After taking a deep breath, Grimm disguised himself as a ‘little boar’ Amonro and flew toward the Camphoragate entryway.
