Soul Emperor Martial God

Chapter 97: Chapter 96: Five Elements Pill

Under the swift arrangements of the Bai Family Master, Xiao Yi, Ye Ming, Fang Hee, and Murong Yin were assigned to quiet rooms.

When Alchemists studied pill recipes, it was very exhausting and could not be disturbed.

Xiao Yi sat quietly on a dark-colored meditation cushion, holding a pill recipe in his hands.

This was a cushion specially prepared by the Bai Family Master, which had the effect of calming the mind and focusing thoughts.

The pill recipe naturally belonged to the Peak Fourth-grade Elixir, the Snow Soul Pill.

Xiao Yi glanced at it a few times but felt his mind was muddled, and he couldn’t understand it at all.

”The art of refining in this world is indeed obscure and complex, extremely profound,” Xiao Yi helplessly shook his head.

It wasn’t that he was dull, but the fourth-grade pill recipe was already beyond his current understanding of alchemy.

Now he was merely a Second-grade Alchemist and naturally couldn’t comprehend the fourth-grade pill recipe.

If it had been a second-grade recipe, he could understand it thoroughly by glancing over it casually.

Of course, he had anticipated this situation and didn’t plan to comprehend the Snow Soul Pill recipe himself.

With a sudden smile, his eyes abruptly turned one black and one red.

The Taiyin and Taiyang Eyes appeared suddenly; as long as he teamed up with the Ice Phoenix Sword, the mystical symbols on the sword body would automatically unlock the understanding of the pill recipe.

However, this time he didn’t manifest the Ice Phoenix Sword.

After all, this was the Bai family’s territory, teeming with powerful individuals; it would be troublesome if someone was spying secretly.

Fortunately, the Ice Phoenix Sword was now his Martial Soul, and by introspecting within his body, he could still clearly see the sword body.

Though this required even more mental effort and he had to observe more seriously.

He memorized the text from the Snow Soul Pill recipe in his mind and then observed the Ice Phoenix Sword within his body.

In an instant, the content of the originally profound recipe became simple knowledge in his mind.

After a while, when his eyes returned to normal, he had fully mastered the steps and precautions for refining the Snow Soul Pill.

Now he just needed the materials, and he could refine the Snow Soul Pill.

”It’s only been a short while, no rush,” thought Xiao Yi secretly.

At that moment, he took out the Innate Pill recipe from his Qiankun Bag.

The Great Elder had given him several Third-grade pill recipes and extensive knowledge of Third-grade Alchemists in his alchemy experience notes.

He had rarely looked at them because firstly, he had no time, spending these three months either on the road or eradicating mountain bandits.

Secondly, he felt it was needless; the Innate Pill contained impurities, was unsuitable for frequent consumption, and wasn’t worth his time to refine.

Taking advantage of some free time now, and having nothing else to do, he decided to study it.

Similarly, his eyes changed, and he introspected the Ice Phoenix Sword within his body.

The Innate Pill recipe turned into simple content, which he mastered easily.

Now, whenever he wished, he could refine the Innate Pill.

At the same time, a new pill recipe suddenly appeared in his mind, one created by the Ice Phoenix Sword.

”Five Elements Pill,” said Xiao Yi quietly, and he dismissed the Taiyin and Taiyang Eyes, his eyes returning to normal.

According to the pill recipe in his mind, the Five Elements Pill was an elixir that could enhance the overall quality of a Martial Artist. Its effectiveness was yet to be determined.

However, since it was derived from the Ice Phoenix Sword, it must be remarkable.

The Nine Revolutions Body Refining Pill, Golden Vein Pill, he had created earlier, had given him sufficient surprises.

The materials for refining the Five Elements Pill were all precious Heavenly Materials and Earthly Treasures, with the weakest being Third-grade medicinal materials, and Fourth-grade materials were in abundance too.

Luckily, he had obtained many Heavenly Materials and Earthly Treasures in the Bloodthirsty Profound Monarch’s Cave Mansion.

These past months in exterminating mountain bandits, he had also seized many treasures.

Nearly all the materials he needed except for one named Six Treasure Exquisite Ginseng.

”Six Treasure Exquisite Ginseng?” Xiao Yi frowned secretly. He had heard of this excessively precious Heavenly Material and Earthly Treasure.

”Probably regular trading companies don’t sell this; I’ll have to visit the Demon Hunting Hall later,” Xiao Yi thought to himself before diverting his thoughts.

Currently missing one material, there was no use worrying further.

However, he recalled that when he had previously looked at the Snow Soul Pill recipe, the Ice Phoenix Sword had not derived any new recipe.

Perhaps, new recipes were only created when he explored pills that could enhance a Martial Artist’s cultivation like the Body Tempering Pill, Postnatal Pill, and Innate Pill, etc.

If he were to study the Mysterious Profundity Pill recipe later, it would likely create new pill recipes too.

Body Tempering Pill, Postnatal Pill, Innate Pill, Mysterious Profundity Pill, Mystic Breakthrough Pill... were all basic elixirs in their respective grades that could slightly increase a Martial Artist’s cultivation, but they contained impurities.

He put the Innate Pill back into the Qiankun Bag, then, after casually looking over the Snow Soul Pill recipe a few times, Xiao Yi began to take a short rest.

About two hours later, he slowly exited the room and returned to the courtyard.

In the courtyard, the Bai Family Master, Housekeeper Bai, and a number of Martial Artists were waiting.

”Look, Xiao Yi is the first to come out.”

The Martial Artists at the scene murmured.

”It’s only been two hours. Can he really have thoroughly studied the Snow Soul Pill recipe? That’s a Peak Fourth-grade Elixir.”

”If this is true, Xiao Yi’s alchemy skills must be quite formidable.”

The Martial Artists present discussed eagerly.

Housekeeper Bai also asked in a serious tone, ”Yi Xiao, are you really confident in having thoroughly researched, do you have confidence?”

Xiao Yi rolled his eyes and ignored him.

An hour later, Ye Ming also returned.

”Oh?” When Ye Ming approached Yi Xiao, he exclaimed in surprise, ”Little brother Yi Xiao, have you grasped the pill recipe so quickly?”

Another half an hour went by, and Fang Hee came back.

He had just arrived when, a few minutes later, Murong Yin followed.

Seeing himself as the last to arrive, Murong Yin’s face turned cold, and he thought, ”Dammit, these three have grasped it faster than I have. Doesn’t that mean their alchemy skills surpass mine?”

”Hmph,” Murong Yin snorted softly, ”Fang Hee and Ye Ming might be excused, but that Yi Xiao, I suspect he’s just pretending to be more than he is.”

At that moment, seeing that the four of them had returned, the Bai Family Master asked, ”Do all of you feel confident?”

Murong Yin promptly responded, ”Bai Family Master, please be assured. I understand the pill recipe for the Snow Soul Pill thoroughly, and unexpectedly, I have more than a fifty percent chance.”

”Fifty percent?” The Bai Family Master was delighted. For a fourth-grade alchemist who had never refined a Snow Soul Pill, a fifty percent chance was already very high.

”Murong Yin Deacon,” the Bai Family Master greeted him with a fist, ”If the Snow Soul Pill is successfully refined, the matter you asked of me earlier, I will agree to it.”

”That would be most excellent.” Murong Yin’s face immediately lit up with a smile, and he bowed deeply to the Bai Family Master. Whatever the matter was, it made him this happy.

Seeing this, Fang Hee sneered and coldly said, ”I have a sixty percent chance.”

Then, ignoring Murong Yin’s darkening face, he turned to Ye Ming and asked, ”And you, young brother Ye Ming?”

”Me?” Ye Ming said softly, ”Around seventy percent.”

”Seventy percent?” Fang Hee was shocked and smiled, ”Truly worthy of being the chief disciple of the Alchemy Hall in the Sky-splitting Sword Sect. Impressive.”

The next second, the three of them looked towards Yi Xiao.

The Bai Family Master too asked, ”Yi Xiao, how about you?”

Xiao Yi shrugged and said indifferently, ”Still the same line, not worse than Murong Yin.”

”Boy, you...” Murong Yin, already with a dark face, now turned even darker.

The Bai Family Master waved his hand and said, ”Since all four of you are confident, let’s start the alchemy. The refinement of the Snow Soul Pill is entrusted to you four.”

The four of them quickly replied, ”You are too kind, Bai Family Master.”

Just as the Bai Family Master was about to have the four go to a quiet alchemy room, Murong Yin stood out.

”Bai Family Master, there’s no need for an alchemy room,” Murong Yin stated confidently. ”We can refine right here.”

”Right here?” The Bai Family Master frowned, ”Aren’t you afraid of being disturbed?”

Murong Yin shook his head, ”The process and steps of refining the Snow Soul Pill, I have thoroughly understood, and I am not afraid of disturbances.”

”Bai Family Master, then I shall also refine right here,” Fang Hee immediately said.

”Alright,” the Bai Family Master nodded. Since the alchemists said there was no problem, he, an amateur, had no say.

”And you, young brother Ye Ming?” the Bai Family Master asked.

”Since Murong Yin Deacon and Master Fang Hee took the liberty to refine on the spot, it would be rude of me not to join in,” Ye Ming still spoke softly.

”And what about you, little brother Yi Xiao?” the Bai Family Master turned to Xiao Yi.

Xiao Yi rolled his eyes, thinking, with the other three opting to refine on the spot, did I even have a choice?

Though inwardly sarcastic, he still said, ”I shall also refine on the spot.”

Murong Yin sneered inwardly, thinking, ”Hmph, I knew you three would do the same. When I publicly refine the Snow Soul Pill later and prove my alchemy skills are superior to yours, let’s see what face you have left to mock me.”

Frankly, his choice to refine on the spot was only to show off and enjoy the admiration from the Martial Artists present.

The others had different reasons.

Fang Hee just wanted to outshine Murong Yin.

Ye Ming, for a reason unknown, always appeared calm and composed.

Xiao Yi was purely resigned, though he also didn’t really care.

In the courtyard, a circle of Martial Artists spread out, leaving a large central area for the four.

Separated by several meters from one another, as soon as the Bai Family Master brought out eight sets of materials, the four took out their alchemy furnaces, ready to begin refining.

Murong Yin’s movements were practiced and swift as he quickly added the ingredients.

At the same time, a fiery red vine materialized, making crackling sounds along with blazing flames.

This was the Thunder Fire Vine, a magical vine that would burn rapidly and extensively upon contact with fire, serving as an excellent catalyst in alchemy.

The vine’s martial soul was of the green tier.

Beside him, Fang Hee also appeared effortless. In front of him, an ethereal Spiritual Crane constantly spewed fire at the alchemy furnace, nearly perfectly controlling the fire.

This was the Fire Crane Martial Soul, also of the green tier, allowing him ease in controlling the entire refining process with its spiritually enhanced fire.

Meanwhile, Ye Ming seemed rather unremarkable, employing an unknown martial soul, yet clearly with full confidence.

However, Xiao Yi released a burst of Purple Flame, which was terrifyingly powerful.

”Truly a Purple Flame Yi Xiao... His flames are strong, and it’s unknown which powerful martial soul is behind such force.”

The Martial Artists present could not identify it and could only marvel inwardly.

In truth, Xiao Yi had to use the Purple Flame.

The materials for the Snow Soul Pill were not of low grade. With his current cultivation, if he were to use ordinary flames, it was uncertain how long he would have to burn the ingredients before fully extracting their medicinal properties.

He had no choice but to rely on the Purple Flame.
